  • The relationship between parent's attitude toward children's emotional expressiveness and children's emotional intelligence(EI) was investigated with the Parent Attitude toward Children's Expressiveness Scale(Saarni, 1990), and children's EI was assessed by a teacher rating scale developed by Kim(1999). The subjects were 121 triads of 3- to 6-year-old children and their mothers and fathers. Data were analyzed by frequencies, percentiles, means, standard deviations, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, two-way ANOVAs, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regression. Results indicated differences in level of EI as a function of gender and age; differences in both mother's and father's attitudes toward children's expressiveness as a function of children's gender and age; and positive correlation between mother's and father's attitudes toward emotional expressiveness and children's EI. Children's age and parental attitude toward children's emotional expressiveness explained 46.7% of children's EI.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of a teacher's leadership (initiating and consideration), class climate, and friendship on academic attitudes. In order to accomplish this, 1,533 elementary school students were recruited. Descriptive statistics and path analysis were employed to examine relationships. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, there were positive correlations between academic attitudes and the teacher's leadership, class climate, and friendship. Second, results of path analysis illustrated that a teacher's leadership consideration indicator had a direct impact on class climate, friendship, and academic attitudes. Furthermore, the teacher's leadership consideration indirectly affected academic attitudes through mediation of class climate and friendship. However, the teacher's leadership initiating indicator did not have a direct impact on class climate, friendship, and academic attitude. The indices of the best fit model for these variables were adequate (GFI, NFI, CFI > 0.90). This study shows that the teacher's leadership consideration is the significant predictor for elementary school students' class climate, friendship, and academic attitudes. Finally, the meaning and limitations of this research, and its implications on academic assistance and intervention, are discussed in detail.

  • The purpose of this study was to make clear the differences of middle and high school students‘ clothing attitude, clothing regulation attitude and influential groups in putting on clothing according to their demographic variables and scholar score. For clothing attitude and clothing regulation attitude, I examined 5 variables of conformity, individuality, modesty, fashion, clothing importance and 2 variables of refusal against regulation from school and parent, The influential groups were divided into ‘significant others’ of teacher, father, mother, other sex friend, same sex friend, and senior and ‘model group’ of teacher, parent, friend and mass media star. My subject was 1050 middle and high school students who are resident in Seoul; sample groups were selected, considered their resident area, gender and the kind of school. As for the analysing method, I adopted SPSS/PC+Program to practice t-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan’s Multi-Range Test. The results are as follows: There was difference in clothing attitude according to the sex and school except nonconformity. Conformity and clothing importance were higher for than boys in both middle and high schools, In particular, middle school boys' clothing importance were lowest. Compared with middle and high school boys, middle school girls considered fashion most seriously and modesty least, For both sexes, the lower the scholar score, the worst the modesty, While the lower the scholar score, the higher the fashion, the refusals against clothing regulation from school and parent for boys, but the fashion and the refusals against regulation from school for girls, As for boy, the lower his father’s educational career was, the higher the clothing importance was, and the lower his mother‘s educational career, the fiercer he refused against clothing regulation from school. As for the influence on significant other/model groups when wearing clothing, girls were more influenced than boys.

  • The school library plays very important and central role for the fullfillment of educational objective in the process of implementing the school curriculum. And the media specialist known as teacher-librarian is. primarily responsible for the successful operation and effective management of the media center. It is true that effectiveness of the school library depends greatly on the cooperative coordination among teacher-librarian, teacher and principal in addition to the strong support and effective supervision of school district authority, specifically, supervisor of school library program. The successful program therefore is influenced by their perception of the teacher-librarian's role. The purpose of this study was to investigate the teacher-librarian's. educational role perceived by teacher-librarian, teacher, principal and school district supervisor. A standard task model describing both the management and educational functions and expectations of teacher-librarian was proposed after studying the relevant current standards of four countries. Serveral hypotheses were made regarding role perception and a survey instrument was designed based on this proposed task model and the results of the literature review to validate the hypotheses. The questionnaires were mailed out and the returned questionaires were analyzed by SPSS computer routine. The major findings are summarized as follows: 1) There was difference of the role perception among teacher-librarian, teacher, principal and district supervisor at the significance level of p<0.001 for both management and educational functions of teacherlibrarian. The mean score of the teacher-librarian was highest among four groups and the score for the educational function tasks were lower than that of management function tasks. 2) The positive correlation exists at the significance level of p<0.001 between the role perception and the attitude toward changing social trends such as acceptance of new technology, need for better communication and information. 3) The positive correlation exists at the significance level of p<0.001 between the role perception and the view on the curriculum and teaching method.
