Impedance control is recognised as one of the most proper control scheme to carry out the assembly tasks, since it can control the dynamic relationship between the manipulator and environment directly. However, it is well known that the contact force cannot be controlled directly using the impedance control. Also impedance parameters should be properly defined depending on the task to be performed. We propose a new position based impedance control, which has self-adjusted impedance parameters and can control the contact force explicitly, Impedance parameters, as time-varying parameters, are adjusted automatically based on the measured contact force and the position error during the task. A proposed algorithm was implemented on the peg-in-hole task with the industrial manipulator. We shows the effectiveness of proposed control method experimentally.

In this paper we describe Task-Based Problem Solving Adapters (TPSAs) for modeling a humam solution (through activity-centered analysis) to a software solution (in form of computer-based artifact). TPSAs are derived from the problem solving pattern or consistent problem solving structures/strategies employed by practitioners while designing solutions to complex problems. The adapters developed by us lead toward human-centeredness in their design and underpinning that help us to address the pragmatic task constraints through a range of technologies like neural networks, fuzzy logic, and genetic algorithms. We also outline an example of applying the TPSAs to develop a working system for assisting sales engineers of an electrical manufacturing firm in preparing indent and monitoring the status of orders in the company.
This user-centered research aims to empirically evaluate color temperature (K) and illuminance (lx) of residential bathroom lightings to determine the most optimal lighting conditions for productive task performance as well as for satisfying users' emotional needs. Using 3 LED lighting fixtures, 4 types of lighting contexts were investigated; main lighting, task lighting, shower lighting, and bath lighting. Two lightings were installed parallel to the vertical edges of the main bathroom mirror to be used as main and task lighting, while another fixture was installed above the bathtub to be used for shower and bathing. For each lighting context, subjects (N=54) were instructed to perform a few tasks during which time the users were exposed to different lighting conditions with color temperature ranging from 2700 K ~ 6500 K and illuminance ranging from 100 lx ~ 700 lx. Upon completing the given tasks, subjects were asked to evaluate the lighting conditions and their applicability for performing the given tasks. Based on the user evaluations, the most optimal lighting conditions for the different lighting scenarios are as follow: 1) 3500 K ~ 4300 K and 150 lx for main lighting, 2) 3500 K ~ 4300 K and 500 lx ~ 700 lx for task lighting, and 3) 2700 K ~ 3500 K and 100 lx ~ 150 lx for shower/bath lighting. These results can be used to adjust the lighting standards suggested by KS, as well as be utilized by both engineers and designers in designing new types of user-centered bathroom lightings.
When we design real-time software target system is analyzed and then we structure sequential executive modules into concurrent tasks. As a result of the analysis, control flow and dataflow diagram based on the RTSA notation is produced. This diagram is structured into concurrenttasks under the condition that performance problem is not serious. The criteria structuring concurrenttasks are introduced as Concurrent Design Approach for Real-Time System(CODARTS) by Gomaa. But structuring concurrent tasks using the criteria of CODARTS is somewhat difficult because thecriteria are dependent on designer's experience. CODARTS is an wide-range and abstractmethodology. As a result, the design can be inconsistent and peoples can understand it differently Inthis paper, we restructure the CODARTS methodology, propose a revised CODARTS structure andrepresent the task structuring steps for this new framework to overcome the understanding andinconsistency problems. The revised CODARTS framework and task structuring steps can be used toautomate the design of real time concurrent software systems. Finally, we show an example of taskstructuring in revised CODARTS framework.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of task oriented ADL exercise in different environments in patients with chronic stroke. METHODS: A total of 28 patients with hemiplegia resulting from stroke were included in this study. The patients were randomized into two groups. The control group(n=14) was received neurodevelopment therapy + task oriented ADL exercise and experimental group(n=14) was received neurodevelopment therapy + home based task oriented ADL exercise for 30 minutes twice per week during 6weeks. A task oriented ADL exercise pretest and postest design was used examine the change of FIM(Functional Independent Measure) and K-MBI(Korea-Modified Bathel Index) at the completion of 6 weeks task oriented ADL exercise. RESULTS: After 6 weeks, the experimental group compared with control group showed a significant improvement (p<.05) in FIM and K-MBI scores. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that the home based task oriented ADL exercise improves functions in the persons with chronic stroke.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of two-way communication and knowledge sharing on the task performance of employees in the interdependent task structure in organizations. Based on the theories of social interdependence and organizational commitment, this study hypothesized the effects of task interdependency and emotional commitment on two-way communication and knowledge sharing, followed by the effects of these variables on the task performance of employees. Design/methodology/approach Survey results show that task interdependence and emotional commitment have positive effects on the degree of two-way communication and knowledge sharing. Two-way communication also has a positive impact on knowledge sharing, and knowledge sharing also improved the task performance of members. However, the relationship between two-way communication and task performance shows no significant impact. Findings Theoretically, this study is meaningful in that the process of task interdependence in relation to emotional commitment leading to task performance is theorized. In practice, this research suggests it is important to improve employees' two-way communication and knowledge sharing in order to lead to increase task performance in the interdependent task environment.
In this paper, DSPOCS(Digital Switchgear-Panel Operation and Control Solution) is designed, which is the intelligent inference based operation and control solution to obtain the safety and reliability of electric power supply in substation based on IED. DSPOCS is designed as a scheduled monitoring and control task and a real-time alarm inference task, and is interlinked with BRES(Bus Reconfiguration Expert System) in the required case. The intelligent alarm inference task consists of the alarm knowledge generation part and the real-time pattern matching part. The alarm knowledge generation part generates automatically alarm knowledge from DB saves it in alarm knowledge base. On the other hand, the pattern matching part inferences the real-time event by comparing the real-time event information furnished from IEDs of substation with the patterns of the saved alarm knowledge base.; Especially, alarm knowledge base includes the knowledge patterns related with fault alarm, the overload alarm and the diagnosis alarm. In order to design the database independently in substation structure, busbar is represented as a connectivity node which makes the more generalized graph theory possible. Finally, DSPOCS is implemented in MS Visual $C^{++}$, MFC, the effectiveness and accuracy of the design is verified by simulation study to the typical distribution substation.
