In this paper, we propose an algorithm to track multi-small targets in infrared image sequences in case of dissipation or creation of targets by using the background estimation filter, Kahnan filter and mean shift algorithm. We detect target candidates in a still image by subtracting an original image from an background estimation image, and we track multi-targets by using Kahnan filter and target selection. At last, we adjust specific position of targets by using mean shift algorithm In the experiments, we compare the performance of each background estimation filters, and verified that proposed algorithm exhibits better performance compared to classic methods.
In previous work Kwon and Yoo [5] have shown that the FIR tracking algorithm using the input estimation technique. However, it has not solved the problem of systems with parameter uncertainties. Therefore, in this paper we propose a new robust $H_{\infty}$ FIR tracking filter to solve the target tracking problems under systems with parameter uncertainties. Also, we use here the input estimation approach to account for the possibility of maneuver. Simulation results show that the robust $H_{\infty}$ FIR tracking filter proposed here still has good tracking performance for a maneuvering target tracking problem even under all system parameter uncertainties.
This paper addresses the development of the estimation algorithm to acquire target position, velocity and course using bearing-only measurements in two dimensional environment. System state equations are derived from modified polar coordinates instead of existing Cartesian coordinates system. The Extended Kalman Filter is used to constitute the estimation algorithm because of state equation's nonlinearity. The computer simulation is done to verify the performance of derived algorithm. Simulation result showed that estimated state value of filter was converged to the true value in 10 minutes.
The probability hypothesis density (PHD) filter is an effective means to track multiple targets in that it avoids explicit data associations between the measurements and targets. However, the target birth intensity as a prior is assumed to be known before tracking in a traditional target-tracking algorithm; otherwise, the performance of a conventional PHD filter will decline sharply. Aiming at this problem, a novel target birth intensity scheme and an improved measurement-driven scheme are incorporated into the PHD filter. The target birth intensity estimation scheme, composed of both PHD pre-filter technology and a target velocity extent method, is introduced to recursively estimate the target birth intensity by using the latest measurements at each time step. Second, based on the improved measurement-driven scheme, the measurement set at each time step is divided into the survival target measurement set, birth target measurement set, and clutter set, and meanwhile, the survival and birth target measurement sets are used to update the survival and birth targets, respectively. Lastly, a Gaussian mixture implementation of the PHD filter is presented under a linear Gaussian model assumption. The results of numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed approach can achieve a better performance in tracking systems with an unknown newborn target intensity.
A new approach to the maneuvering target tracking problem is proposed. Its basic concept is to take the maneuver variable from the measurements. Tracking scheme based on the Kalman filter estimates the maneuver varieble from the residual and uses the estimates to update the Kalman filter. The estimation process is independent of target types and a model of the maneuver characteristics. All the filtering algorithms are processed in polor coordinate. Simulation results are presented and compared to that of the extended Kalman filter.
This paper describes the development of a target vehicle state estimation algorithm using vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. Perceiving the state of the target vehicle has great importance for successful autonomous driving and has been studied using various sensors and methods for many years. V2V communication has advantage of not being constrained by surrounding circumstances relative to other sensors. In this paper, we adopt the V2V signal for estimating the target vehicle state. Since applying only the V2V signal is improper by its low frequency and latency, the signal is used as additional measured data to improve the estimation accuracy. We estimate the target vehicle state using Extended Kalman filter (EKF); a point mass model was utilized in process update to predict the state of next step. The process update is followed by measurement update when ego vehicle receives V2V information. The proposed study evaluated state estimation by comparing input V2V information in an experiment where the ego vehicle follows the target vehicle behind it.

Correlation Filter-based Trackers (CFTs) gained popularity recently for their effectiveness and efficiency. To deal with the size changes of the target which may degenerate the tracking performance, scale estimation has been introduced in existing CFTs. However, the variations of the aspect ratio were usually neglected, which also influence the size of the target. In this paper, Size Aware Correlation Filter Trackers (SACFTs) are proposed to deal with this problem. The SACFTs not only determine the translation and scale variations, but also take the aspect ratio changes into consideration, thus a better estimation of the size of the target can be realized, which improves the overall tracking performance. And competing results can be achieved compared with state-of-the-art methods according to the experiments conducted on two large scale datasets.

This paper describes methods to estimate 3-D position of target with respect to reference frame through monocular image from unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). 3-D position of target is used as information for surveillance, recognition and attack. In this paper. 3-D position of target is estimated to make guidance and control law, which can follow target, user interested. It is necessary that position of target is measured in image to solve 3-D position of target. In this paper, kalman filter is used to track and output position of target in image. Estimation of target's 3-D position is possible using result of image tracking and information of UAV and camera. To estimate this, two algorithms are used. One is methode from arithmetic derivation of dynamics between UAV, carmer, and target. The other is LPV (Linear Parametric Varying). These methods have been run on simulation, and compared in this paper.
This paper studies the problem of tracking a re-entry vehicle (RV) in order to predict its impact point on the ground. Re-entry target dynamics combined with super-high speed has a complex non-linearity due to ballistic coefficient variations. However, it is difficult to construct a database for the ballistic coefficient of a unknown vehicle for a wide range of variations, thus the reliability of target tracking performance cannot be guaranteed if accurate ballistic coefficient estimation is not achieved. Various techniques for ballistic coefficient estimation have been previously proposed, but limitations exist for the estimation of non-linear parts accurately without obtaining prior information. In this paper we propose the ballistic coefficient ${\beta}$ model-based interacting multiple model-extended Kalman filter (${\beta}$-IMM-EKF) for precise tracking of an RV. To evaluate the performance, other ballistic coefficient model based filters, which are gamma augmented filter, gamma bootstrapped filter were compared and assessed with the proposed ${\beta}$-IMM-EKF for precise tracking of an RV.

In this paper, a tracking algorithm for a maneuvering single target in the presence of multiple data from multiple sensors is investigated. Allowing individual sensors to function by themselves, the estimates from individual sensors on the same target are fused for the purpose of improving the state estimate. The filtering method adopted in the local sensors is the variable dimensional filter with input estimatio technique, which consists of a constant velocity model and a constant acceleration model. A posteriori probability for the maneuvering hypothesis is newly derived. It is shown that the relation function of the a posteriori probability is a function of only the covariance of the fused estimates. Simulation results are provided.
