  • This paper describes a visual programming tool which provides novice programmer as well expert with the abilites to capture real physical world of problem domain and to manipulate it user-friendly using icons and symbols. Therefore, novice can understand object-oriented features of C++ incrementally and construct classes easily. For this, we introduce some visual metaphors which are displayed as tables. The tables can not only represent objects and classes, but also be considered themselves as icons. We have named these tables as table-icons. Three levels of table-icons(i.e., Super Table-Icons, Intermediate Table-Icons and Detailed Table-Icons) are proposed to follow up appropriate evolution of object-oriented concepts. Table-icons are not simple pictographs but are activated and expanded to table forms. And then, developer can inset necessary entities into table body and delete useless entities from it. These table-icons are applied to a diagramming technique, C++gram[18], which is suggested for designing and implementing C++ programs.

  • The purpose of this study is to search the effective teaching-learning program by considering how affect on formation of linear function using Excel. This study was based on qualitative case study. The teaching experiment using Excel executed with five 8th graders' students for second research content. Teaching experiment was performed for two classes. Collecting the data was conducted via observations and interviews with students. The data include audio and video recording of the students' work, students' worksheets and detailed field notes. The conclusions drawn from teaching experiment are as follows: First, when students explored relevancy content of function in Excel environment, formation of concept of function was facilitated by experiencing operation of algebraic formulas, tables and graphs. We could infer that formation of concept was effected by conjecture activity and iterative process of feedback through Excel environment. Second, the students explored the changes very interestingly making algebraic formulas and presenting tables and graphs. The students were familiarized with observation on algebraic formulas, graphs and tables concurrently. Also, they tried to look for general rules through inductive observation. According to this study, we noticed that exploration teaming environment using Excel could supplement paper-and-pencil environment.

  • There are many syntactic similarities between Japanese and Korean language. These similarities enable us to build Japanese-Korean translation systems without depending cm sophisticated syntactic analysis and semantic analysis. To further improve translation accuracy, we have been developing a Japanese-Korean translation system using these similarities for several years. However, there still remain some problems with regard to translation of inflected words, processing of multi-translatable words and so on. In this paper, we propose a new method for Japanese-Koran machine translation by using the relationships of two neighboring words. To solve the problems, we investigate the connection rules of auxiliary verb priority. And we design the translation table, which consists of entry tables and connection form tables. for unambiguous words, we can translate a Japanese word to the corresponding Korean word in terms of direct-matching method by consulting the only entry table. Otherwise we have to evaluate the connection value computed from connection form tables and then we can select the most appropriate target word.

  • Several empty-space leaping methods have been proposed for CPU-based volume ray casting. When sample points are located in semi-transparent cells, however, previous leaping methods perform unnecessary resamplings even if the scalar values on those points are confined within transparent range. A semi-transparent cells leaping method for volume ray casting using the Marching Cubes algorithm is proposed to solve this problem in our previous work. When a ray reaches a semi-transparent cell, our method performs in-out test between current sample point and the bounding box enclosing the triangles generated by the Marching Cubes. If the sample point lies on outside of the bounding box, we estimate the point is regarded as transparent. In this case, the ray advances to the next sample point without performing a resampling operation. We can frequently refer the tables for neighboring voxels, however, when we exploit conventional data structures of the Marching Cubes. We propose modified Marching Cubes tables for solving this problem.

  • This study aims to suggest methods to estimate the agriculture related added value created in the agricultural production sector and the up/downstream agribusiness of Chungcheongnam-do by using the transaction table at producer's price, the domestic transaction table, the wholesale-retail profit table and the freight charge table in the input-output tables, and further aims to estimate regional and industrial agriculture related added values created in the agricultural production sector and the agribusiness of Chungcheongnam-do by using the input-output tables of the year 2005. This thesis suggests the consideration of overall and holistic policy regarding public welfare facilities in healthcare, commission sale market places for fishery products, fishery processing factories, processing factories for medicines, cosmetics, feedstuff, and tobacco leaves and the innovative distribution system with regard to wholesale/retail that Chungnam lacks in. It is also proposed to make comprehensive and cohesive policy to enhance growth and competitiveness of agricultural, forestry and fishery industry.

  • While local autonomy is settled, each local government plans and fulfills policy to foster local industry for local development so it is important to establish industry location and economic foundation which is fitting to local conditions. Local development requires the development of local industry and it is necessary that this industry fits to the local conditions in order to be focused and developed. The regional input-output tables contain very useful data to understand the structure of local industry and interregional industry and also the analysis of linkage by industrial ripple effect among regions is needed. The study divided the country into 7 units and conducted factor analysis by using sum data of inducement coefficients in 78 parts of 2005's regional input-output tables, and as conclusion extracted 8 factors.

  • We propose hardware architecture of floating-point square root and inverse square root arithmetic units using lookup tables. They are used for lighting engines and shader processor for 3D graphic processing. The architecture is based on Taylor series expansion and consists of lookup tables and correction units so that the size of look-up tables are reduced. It can be applied to 32 bit floating point formats of IEEE-754 and reduced 24 bit floating point formats. The square root and inverse square root arithmetic units for 32 bit and 24 bit floating format number are designed as the proposed architecture. They can operation in a single cycle, and satisfy the precision of $10^{-5}$ required by OpenGL 1.x ES. They are designed using Verilog-HDL and the RTL codes are verified using an FPGA.

  • XML is emerging as a standard data format to exchange and to present data on the Web. There are increasing needs to efficiently store and to query XML data. In this paper. we propose a new schema transformation algorithm based on a common structure extracting technique from XML documents. The common structure is shared by all XML documents referenced by DTD and the uncommon structure is ununiformly appeared on all XML documents referenced by DTD. Based on the extracted common and uncommon structures, we transform XML DTD into relational database schema. We conduct a performance evaluation based on the number of the generated tables, the size of the record, query processing time and the number of joins on the query. The performance of our algorithm is compared with the existing algorithms, then in most cates, our algorithm is better than the existing ones with respect to the number of the generated tables and appearance of NULL values in the tables.

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to develop a dietary fiber composition table (DFCT) and to assess dietary fiber intakes in Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Methods: The DFCT was developed by compiling the food composition tables published by the agencies of Korea, United States, or Japan. When there was no available data from the same species or status (dried, boiled, etc.) of food, the values were imputed by estimating from the same species with different status or substituting familiar species in biosystematic grouping. Using KNHANES VI-2 (2014) microdata and DFCT, intake of dietary fiber of Koreans was estimated. Results: Among the 5,126 food items of DFCT, the proportion of items of which dietary fiber contents were taken from the analytical values of the same foods was 40.9%. The data from the domestic food composition tables was 37.5%, and the data from the foreign tables was 49.6%. The rest was assumed as zero, or estimated with recipe database and nutrition labeling. Mean daily intake of dietary fiber was 23.2 g, and mean intake per 1,000 kcal was 10.7 g in men and 12.6 g in women. The mean percentage of dietary fiber intake compared to adequate intake was higher than 100%. The major food groups contributing to dietary fiber intakes were vegetables and cereals, and the percent contribution were 32.9% and 23.0% of total dietary fiber intakes, respectively. Conclusions: This DFCT could serve as a useful database for assessing dietary fiber intakes and for investigating the association between dietary fiber intakes and noncommunicable diseases.
