PRACTICAL WAYS TO CALCULATE CAMERA LENS DISTORTION FOR REAL-TIME CAMERA CALIBRATION

  • In this paper, we address practical methods for calculating camera lens distortion for real time applications. Although the lens distortion problem can be easily ignored for constant-parameter lenses, in the field of real-time camera calibrations, for zoom lenses a large number of calculations are needed to calculate the distortion. However, if the distortion can be calculated independently of the other camera parameter, we can easily calibrate a camera without the need for a large number of calculations. Based on Tsai's camera model, we propose two different methods for calculating lens distortion. These methods are so simple and require so few calculations that the lens distortion can be rapidly calculated even in real-time applications. The first method is to refer to the focal length - lens distortion Look Up Table(LUT), which is constructed in the initialization process. The second method is to use the relationship between the feature points found in the image. Experiments were carried out for both methods, results of which show that the proposed methods are favorably comparable in performance with non-real full optimization method.

  • This paper presents a implementation of digital sensorless position control system of surface permanent-magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) drive with a direct torque control (DTC). The system are stator flux and torque observer of stator flux feedback control model that inputs are current and voltage sensing of motor terminal with estimated rotor angle for a low speed operating area, two hysteresis band controllers, an optimal switching look-up table, rotor speed estimator, and IGBT voltage source inverter by using fully integrated control software. The developed sensorless control system are shown a good motion control response characteristic results and high performance features using 1.0 (kW) purposed servo drive SPMSM.

  • In this paper, th technique of particular harmonics elimination in three-phase PWM Inverter is discussed. And voltage control technique is derived whereby harmonics elimination is possible in variable voltage variable frequency three-phase I.M.. The required switching patterns are determined on Personal Computer and the results are stored in look-up table in EPROM for controlling the switching of the PWM Inverter. The results show that experiments are in good agreement with simulation based on the theory.

  • This paper presents the practical pressure control of hydraulic oil-pump system using SR drive for industrial application. In order to get a high performance of pressure dynamics in actual application, a data based PID control scheme is proposed in this paper. The look-up table from pre-measured data produces an approximately proper current reference according to motor speed and oil-pressure. And, PID controller can compensate the pressure error. With the combination of two references, the proposed control scheme can get a fast dynamics and stable operation. Furthermore, the suitable current controller considering the nonlinear characteristics of SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) and practical test method for data measuring are introduced. The proposed control scheme is verified by the experimental test.

  • This paper proposes a novel control strategy of SVC(Static var compensator) using cascade multilevel inverter. To control the reactive power instantaneously, the dq-dynamic system model is described and analyzed. A single pulse pattern based on the SHE(Selective Harmonic Elimination) technique is determined from the look-up table to reduce the line current harmonics and a rotating fundamental frequency switching scheme is applied to adjust the DC capacitor voltage at the scheme level. From the simulation, it is verified that this proposed control scheme make the dynamic control response of SVC fast, the current harmonics low, and the DC capacitor voltage balanced.

  • 본 논문에서는 변형된 Newton-Raphson 알고리즘과 LUT(Look Up Table)를 사용하는 역제곱근 연산기를 제안한다. Newton-Raphson 부동소수점 역수 알고리즘은 일정한 횟수의 곱셈을 반복하여 역수 제곱근을 계산하는 방식이다. 변형된 Newton-Raphson 알고리즘은 하드웨어 구현에 적합하도록 변환되었으며, LUT는 오차를 줄이기 위해 개선되었다. 제안된 연산기는 LUT의 크기를 최소화하고, 순환적인 구조가 아닌 2-stage pipeline 구조를 가진다. 또한 IEEE-754 부동소수점 표준을 기초로 하는 24-bit 데이터 형식을 사용해 면적과 속도 향상에 유리하여 휴대용 기기의 멀티미디어 분야의 응용에 적합하다. 본 역제곱근 연산기는 소수점 이하 8-bit의 정확도를 가지며 VHDL을 이용하여 설계되었다. 그 크기는 $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정에서 약 4,000 gate의 크기를 보였으며 150MHz에서 동작이 가능하다.

  • A method to adaptively control leg-ends trajectories of a five-legged walking robot, Cepheus-2, has been developed in terms of a kind of a table look-up method. Cepheus-2 is a five-legged robot with a pentagonal body with two joints of each leg. The robot control system has a hierarchical autonomic-integrated architecture with a main computer (PC), a manager and servo modules. Being given the goals of walking by the main computer, the manager module assigns a type of leg-end trajectories of which data are described with the work space coordinates for the legs. A Comparative Study of List Sphere Decoders for MIMO Systems

  • In this paper, we investigated the list sphere decoders (LSD) for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. We showed that the ordering procedures play an important role in LSD in order to achieve the low complexity without degrading the bit-error-rate (BER) performance. Then, we proposed a novel ordering algorithm for the LSD which uses a look-up table and simply comparative operations. Comparative results in terms of BER performance and computational complexity are provided through computer simulations.

  • With the aim to maximize the use of a given voltage source in the field of railway and electric vehicles, this study applies a technique for controlling the overmodulation region between the linear and the six-step regions. High linearity overmodulation techniques that do not use look-up table (LUT) to digital signal processor (DSP) using carrier based pulse width modulation (PWM) are proposed. Such technique requires the phase of the voltage vector at the point where the circular trajectory of the voltage command vector and hexagonal cross each other. Therefore, a method is proposed to obtain a phase of a voltage vector that is derived through an equation and applied to a carrier-based PWM. Validity of the proposed implementation method is confirmed through simulation and experiment.

  • 영상 확대 기술을 담당하는 업스케일러를 설계 할 때 보간 기법의 선택은 매우 중요하다. 적용하는 보간 기법에 따라 출력되는 영상의 화질과 스케일러 내부의 연산량 및 하드웨어 복잡도가 결정되기 때문이다. 디지털 영상 처리 기술의 발달과 함께 성능이 좋은 여러 가지 보간 기법들이 개발되어 오고 있지만 알고리즘의 복잡도를 고려하지 않은 기법들은 실시간 처리와 하드웨어 적용에 부적합한 경우가 많다. 비교적 좋은 성능을 보여주는 Cubic interpolation 역시 인접 화소 보간 기법이나 선형 보간 기법과 비교하면 훨씬 더 많은 연산량을 요구한다. 이런 높은 연산량의 대부분은 픽셀의 밝기값에 곱해지는 계수를 구하기 위한 복잡한 계산에서 기인한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 cubic interpolation 의 복잡도를 낮춰 하드웨어 적용에 적합하도록 하기 위하여 LUT(Look-up Table)을 이용하는 방법을 제안하고 실험을 통해 그 결과를 보인다.
