In this exploration, the nuclear magnetic resonance of the $^{207}Pb$ nucleus in $PbWO_4:Mn^{2+}$ and $PbWO_4:Dy^{3+}$ Single Crystals using FT-NMR spectrometer is investigated. The line width of the resonance line for the $^{207}Pb$ nucleus decreases as temperature increases due to motional narrowing. The chemical shift of $^{207}Pb$ NMR spectra also increases as temperature decreases for both crystals. The spinlattice relaxation times $T_1$ of $^{39}K$ nucleus were calculated as a function of temperature (180 K~400 K). The $T_1$ of $^{207}Pb$ nucleus decreases as temperature increases. The dominant relaxation mechanism at the studied temperature range can be deduced as the Raman process, which is the coupling between lattice vibrations and the nuclear spins. This deduction is substantiated by the fact that the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate $1/T_1$ of the $^{207}Pb$ nucleus in $PbWO_4:Mn^{2+}$ and $PbWO_4:Dy^{3+}$ single crystal is proportional to $T^2$, or temperature squared. The activation energies for the $^{207}Pb$ nucleus in $PbWO_4:Mn^{2+}$ and $PbWO_4:Dy^{3+}$ single crystals are $E_a=49{\pm}1meV$ and $E_a=47{\pm}2meV$, respectively.

The phase transition temperatures of CsCoCl3·2H2O crystals are investigated via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Three endothermic peaks at temperatures of 370 K (=TC1), 390 K (=TC2), and 416 K (=TC3) were observed for phase transitions from CsCoCl3·2H2O to CsCoCl3·1.5H2O, to CsCoCl3·H2O, and then to CsCoCl3·0.5H2O, respectively. In addition, the spin-lattice relaxation time T1ρ in the rotating frame and T1 in the laboratory frame as well as changes in chemical shifts for 1H and 133Cs near TC1 were found to be temperature dependent. Our analyses results indicated that the changes of chemical shifts, T1ρ, and T1 are associated with structural phase transitions near temperature TC1. The changes of chemical shifts, T1ρ, and T1 near TC1 were associated with structural phase transitions, owing to the changes in the symmetry of the structure formed of H2O and Cs+ ions. Consequently, the structural symmetry in CsCoCl3·2H2O crystals based on temperature is discussed by the environments of their H and Cs nuclei.
T1, T2 relaxation time and relaxation rates were measured and analyzed according to the change of RF coil channel number of MAGiC sequence. T1, T2, R1 and R2 maps were obtained by using MAGiC sequence with phantom (1.0, 0.6, 0.2, 0 mM) on the RF coil with channel number of 1, 8, 16 and 32 respectively. T1, T2, R1, R2 values and relaxation rates were measured for each channel number and concentration, and Relaxivity was calculated according to each concentration. T1, T2, R1, and R2 values were measured in each coil. There was no significant difference between T1 and R1 values (p> 0.05). However, T2 and R2 values were significantly different (p <0.05). In the post-analysis results, T2 value was significantly different from that measured on 1, 8, 16, and 32 channel coils (p <0.05) and There was no difference between 8, 16, and 32 channel coils (p> 0.05). The R2 value was significantly different from that measured on the 8, 16, and 32 channel coils in the 1 channel coil, and the results on the 8 channel coils and the 16 channel coils showed a significant difference (P <0.05). In conclusion, T1 and R1 values were not significantly different according to the number of channels in the coil, but T2 and R2 values were significantly different. Therefore, when quantitative measurement of T2 and R2 values using the MAGiC sequence, the same number of coils should be used for reproducibility.
The multistage deformation and stress relaxation were carried out to investigate the strain induced precipitation by torsion tests in the range of 1000~80$0^{\circ}C$, 0.05~5/sec for V-microalloyed steel. The starting temperature and time for the initiation of precipitation were determined by stress relaxation tests. The distribution of precipitates increased, as the strain rate increased and the mean size of precipitates was found to be about 10~30nm. The precipitation starting time$(P_s)$ decreased with increasing strain rate and the amount of pre-strain. The effect of deformation conditions on the no-recrystallization temperature$(T_nr)$ was also determined in the multistage deformation. $T_nr$ Tnr decreased with increasing the strain and strain rate. In the controlled rolling simulation, grain refinement and precipitation hardening effects could be achieved by the alternative large pass strain at the latter half pass stage under the condition of low temperature and high strain rate.
The effect of the addition of 2 kinds of chemically modified starches (the anti-caking agents; tapioca starch and com starch) on caking of ramen soup was observed using a low-resolution proton-pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique. After storing ramen soup samples with diverse compositions of modified starch at 20-40% relative humidity for 4 weeks, changes in the spin-spin relaxation time constant ($T_2$) were measured as a function of temperature. $T_2-Temperature$ curves for ramen soup containing modified starches showed that the caking initiation temperature (glass transition temperature) was increased by $5^{\circ}C$ following the addition of only 0.5% modified cornstarch. The results indicate that the modified com starch used in this study would be an effective anti-caking agent for ramen soup, thus prolonging the shelf life of the product.

Femtosecond vibrational spectroscopy was used to measure the vibrational population relaxation time ($T_1$) of different anions bound to ferric myoglobin ($Mb^{III}$) and hemoglobin ($Hb_{III}$) in $D_2O$ at 293 K. The $T_1$ values of the anti-symmetric stretching (${\nu}_1$) mode of NCS in the $NCS^-$ bound to $Mb^{III}$ ($Mb^{III}$NCS) and $Hb_{III}$ ($Hb_{III}$NCS) in $D_2O$ are $7.2{\pm}0.2$ and $6.6{\pm}0.2$ ps, respectively, which are smaller than that of free NCS. in $D_2O$ (18.3 ps). The $T_1$ values of the ${\nu}_1$ mode of NCO in the $NCO^-$ bound to $Mb^{III}$ ($Mb^{III}$NCO) and $Hb_{III}$ ($Hb_{III}$NCO) in $D_2O$ are $2.4{\pm}0.2$ and $2.6{\pm}0.2$ ps, respectively, which are larger than that of free $NCO^-$ in $D_2O$ ($1.9{\pm}0.2$ ps). The smaller $T_1$ values of the ${\nu}_1$ mode of the heme-bound NCS suggest that intramolecular vibrational relaxation (VR) is the dominant relaxation pathway for the excess vibrational energy. On the other hand, the longer $T_1$ values of the ${\nu}_1$ mode of the heme-bound NCO suggest that intermolecular VR is the dominant relaxation pathway for the excess vibrational energy in the ${\nu}_1$ mode of $NCO^-$ in $D_2O$, and that intramolecular VR becomes more important in the vibrational energy dissipation of the ${\nu}_1$ mode of NCO in $Mb^{III}$NCO and $Hb_{III}$NCO.
Purpose: Rapid detection of bacteria is very important in agricultural and food industries to prevent many foodborne illnesses. The objective of this study was to develop a portable nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)-based system to detect foodborne pathogens (E. coli). This study was focused on developing a method to detect low concentrations of magnetic nanoparticles using NMR techniques. Methods: NMR relaxometry was performed to examine the NMR properties of iron nanoparticle mixtures with different concentrations by using a 1 T permanent magnet magnetic resonance imaging system. Exponential curve fitting (ECF) and inverse Laplace transform (ILT) methods were used to estimate the NMR relaxation time constants, $T_1$ and $T_2$, of guar gum solutions with different iron nanoparticle concentrations (0, $10^{-3}$, $10^{-4}$, $10^{-5}$, $10^{-6}$, and $10^{-7}M$). Results: The ECF and ILT methods did not show much difference in these values. Analysis of the NMR relaxation data showed that the ILT method is comparable to the classical ECF method and is more sensitive to the presence of iron nanoparticles. This study also showed that the spin-spin relaxation time constants acquired by a Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) pulse sequence are more useful for determining the concentration of iron nanoparticle solutions comparwith the spin-lattice relaxation time constants acquired by an inversion recovery pulse sequence. Conclusions: We conclude that NMR relaxometry that utilizes CPMG pulse sequence and ILT analysis is more suitable for detecting foodborne pathogens bound to magnetic nanoparticles in agricultural and food products than using inversion recovery pulse sequence and ECF analysis.
Purpose: To investigate the temperature-based differences of cortical bone ultrashort echo time MRI (UTE-MRI) biomarkers between body and room temperatures. Investigations of ex vivo UTE-MRI techniques were performed mostly at room temperature however, it is noted that the MRI properties of cortical bone may differ in vivo due to the higher temperature which exists as a condition in the live body. Materials and Methods: Cortical bone specimens from fourteen donors ($63{\pm}21$ years old, 6 females and 8 males) were scanned on a 3T clinical scanner at body and room temperatures to perform T1, $T2^*$, inversion recovery UTE (IR-UTE) $T2^*$ measurements, and two-pool magnetization transfer (MT) modeling. Results: Single-component $T2^*$, $IR-T2^*$, short and long component $T2^*s$ from bi-component analysis, and T1 showed significantly higher values while the noted macromolecular fraction (MMF) from MT modeling showed significantly lower values at body temperature, as compared with room temperature. However, it is noted that the short component fraction (Frac1) showed higher values at body temperature. Conclusion: This study highlights the need for careful consideration of the temperature effects on MRI measurements, before extending a conclusion from ex vivo studies on cortical bone specimens to clinical in vivo studies. It is noted that the increased relaxation times at higher temperature was most likely due to an increased molecular motion. The T1 increase for the studied human bone specimens was noted as being significantly higher than the previously reported values for bovine cortical bone. The prevailing discipline notes that the increased relaxation times of the bound water likely resulted in a lower signal loss during data acquisition, which led to the incidence of a higher Frac1 at body temperature.
Low field NMR was employed to discriminate the geographical origin of sesame seeds from Sudan, China, and Korea. Sudan sesame seeds had the lowest contents of moisture and crude fat. Chemical components of Korean and Chinese sesame seeds were similar, whereas relaxation times $(T_1-IR,\;T_1-SR)$ measeured through spin-lattice relaxation pluse techniques using 20 MHz NMR showed significant difference (p0.05). Canonical discriminant analysis could be used to identify the habitat of sesame seeds with over 90% accuracy of NMR results. Non-destructive and fast NMR techniques can be applied to classify Korean sesame seeds from those of other origins.
Postoperative pain is one of the most frequently occurred pain in hospitals, but it has been underestimated because it is only a part of postoperative physiological Process and may disappear in time. It is necessary that nurses me the relaxation technique, planning and implementing by themselves independently, to reduce this postoperative pain. This study is aimed at showing the effect of relaxation technique on reduction of postoperative pain, and exploring the factors influencing postoperative. pain Fifty-seven patients with abdominal surgery who admitted in attacked D Medical Center to K University in Daegu have been studied. Of them twenty-nine were experimental group and the remaining twenty-eight were control group. This study has been conducted for collecting data through interviews and observation from August 23 to October 24, 1984. The tools of this study were two kinds: Postoperative Pain Scale is obtained from a review of references by the researcher, and relaxation technique, designed to use postoperative setting adequately, is also obtained from a review of references by the researcher. After confiriming no significant differences between the two groups, the hypotheses were statistically verified by x²-test, t-test, and pearson Correlation Coefficient. The results of this study are summerized as follows; * The nam hypothesis that the experimental group who use relaxation technique will have less degree of postoperative pain than the control group who don't use relaxation technique is devided into three sub-hypotheses. 1. The first sub-hypothesis that the experimental group will have less score of postoperative pain than control group was accepted (t=7.810, p <.01). Even with controlling pain threshold, showing difference in some degree between the two groups, the experimental group has less score of postoperative pain than the control group. Therefore this confirms the acceptance of the first sub-hypothesis more strongly. 2. The second sub-hypothesis that the expermental group will have less frequency of analgesics than the control group is accepted (x²=9.85, p <.01). 3. The third sub-hypothesis that the experimental group will have less variation of pulse, respiration, and blood pressure between pre End post operative periods than the control group is rejected. So this hypothesis is reverified through comparing the variation of pulse, respiration, and blood pressure between pre and post changing Position to measure the pure effect of relaxation technique. pulse and respiration is significantly lowered in the experimental group (t=7.209, p<.01, t=3.473, p<.01), but systolic and diastolic blood pressure is not different significantly between the two groups (t= 1.309, p>.05, t=1. 727 p>.05). Therefore the third sub-hypothesis is partially accepted. Conclusively, the researcher thinks that it is necessary that nurses should provide patients with relaxation technique to reduce postoperative pain, and to increase independence of nursing.
