  • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate and assess the response capabilities and educational needs of 119 emergency medical technicians (EMTs) in chemical accidents. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 167 119 EMTs between December 1st and December 31, 2023. The questionnaire comprised 8 questions on general characteristics, 2 on chemical accidents experienced by the participants, 29 on response capabilities, and 15 on educational needs. Data analysis was performed using t-tests, analysis of variance, Duncan's test for post-hoc analysis, and Pearson's correlation coefficient, using SPSS 27.0. Results: The participants scored 2.69 points on response capacity to chemical accidents. The EMT-Paramedics scored high in 'patient triage,' 'patient treatment,' 'patient transport,' and 'collaborative support' (F=3.924, p=.010; F=5.843, p=.001; F=3.698, p=.013; F=5.272, p=.002), followed by educational experience (t=-4.962, p<.001; t=-2.685, p=.008; t=-3.455, p=.001; t=-3.593, p<.001; t=-3.034, p=.003). The participants scored 4.19 points on educational needs, with high scores for 'patients treatment and transport' (4.280.93). The scores for 'patient triage competency', and 'patient triage' (r=.169, p=.024) correlated positively. Furthermore, the scores for 'patient treatment competency' and all sub-factors of educational needs (r=.185, p=.013; r=.215, p=.004; r=.199, p=.008; r=.190, p=.011; r=.197, p=.008) correlated positively. Conclusion: To strengthen the response capabilities of 119 EMTs, it is imperative to develop an educational program that focuses on first-aid responses.

  • This study investigated the effect of self-esteem and depression on smartphone addiction among university students. A descriptive correlation study design was used with a convenience sample consisting of 349 university students. SPSS Win21.0 program was used for the descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and multiple-regression analysis. The significant factors for Smartphone addiction were spent time on smartphone, improve test score, and depression. These factors explained 28% of the variance in Smartphone addiction. In conclusion, the results of this study indicated that for university students with smartphone addiction and depression, there is a need to develop an intervention program to prevent smartphone addiction and improve depression. Thus, it is important to provide services to reduce depression among university students.

The research method was a descriptive research study. The subject were 262 of healthcare workers of general hospitals. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Chi-square test, ANOVA, Person's correlation coefficient and Multiple regression analysis using the SPSS program. As a result of the correlation analysis SP Performance was positively correlated with attitude (r=.18, p=.003), safety environment (r=.42, p<.001) and awareness (r=.63, p<.001). As a result of the stepwise multiple regression analysis on the factors influencing SP performance were SP awareness and safety environment. Therefore, in order to improved performance of SP, it's important to improve a awareness and safety environment of SP. Different and persistent infection management educational programs that consider the occupational characteristics and monitoring are required.

The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for nursing intervention strategies to promote health behaviors. Method: The health promotion program consisted of health education, group discussion, emotional support, health and telephone counsel. As a quasi-experimental design, the none-quivalent control group pretest-posttest design was utilized for this study. The subjects of this study consisted of 50 people, over 60 years of age attending 2 senior colleges in S city. They were divided into two groups: 24 in the experimental group and 26 in the control group. Data was collected from July 2, 2001 to August 21, 2001. For the analysis, SPSS PC 10.0 Window version was adopted and descriptive analysis, ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test, paired t-test, MANOVA were used for data analysis. Result: The health behavior and life satisfaction of the elderly improved significantly (F=18.305, p=.000 ; F=17.478, p=.000). But there is no significant difference in the perceived health status(F=3.807, p=.057). Conclusion: The health promotion program is confirmed as proper to promote the health in the elderly. In addition, assessment and support will be simultaneously done to manage the health of the elderly. Finally this study supports intervention for the elderly and provides a basis for further investigations.

  • We analyzed the research type and statistical methods in Korean Journal of Oriental Physiology and Pathology for describing the trends of Oriental medicine research. The data for the analysis of trends in Oriental medicine research was taken from a total 808 articles published in Korean Journal of Oriental Physiology and Pathology from 2004 to 2006. We surveyed the number of authors, the institutes involved in each study, and used languages in each study. Also we seperated by epidemiological study design, the studies into categories and statistical methods into 13 categories. Results showed that descriptive statistics was used in 125(14.4%) papers. Also t-test, analysis of variance, multiple comparison, chi-square test, and non-parametric test were used in 338(38.9%), 147(16.9%), 81(9.3%), 27(3.1%), 23(2.6%) papers, respectively. And 62(7.1%) papers of the involved papers didn't use statistical methods. To improve the quality of Oriental medicine related articles, we have to use proper statistical methods with consultation of statistician or other experts before accepting a manuscript are needed.

  • This paper performed an empirical study through the survey to investigate the effects of the service orientation of the urban railway-operating company on employees' job satisfaction and customer orientation. For this, the surveyed data was analyzed through factor analysis, reliability analysis, and regression analysis. The difference between railway-operating companies was analyzed by the t-test and the differences between workers in different fields were analyzed by the ANOVA test. The results show that 1) human resource management, employee empowerment, service leadership, and service system are positively related to employees' job satisfaction in the decreasing order, 2) the service system, human resource management, and service leadership are positively related to customer orientation, but employee empowerment is negatively related to customer orientation, 3) the workers of the urban railway-operating company A and B show significant differences in job satisfaction and customer orientation, and 4) the job satisfaction and the customer orientation of the rolling stock maintenance workers was the highest and that of service workers in station was the lowest.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the current status and effects of online discussion classes in universities. To this end, a survey was conducted on university students attending a total of four universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province to diagnose their perceptions of the operation of online discussion classes and their effects. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, cross-analysis, F-test, T-test, and Scheffe test by applying SPSS program. As a result of the study, first, it was found that 'non-real-time recorded lessons' and 'real-time interactive video lessons' were mainly conducted at universities after the COVID19 crisis. Second, in the online class method, 'real-time interactive video class' had a positive effect on 'debate class preference' and was found to be more meaningful. Third, college students recognized participation in online discussion classes as a foundation for expanding creative thinking skills, suggesting that strengthening through smooth communication and exchanges based on learners' sufficient cognitive processes on discussion methods and procedures is more helpful.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine influence factors for predicting postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV) for postoperative 24hr. Participants were 332 general surgery(GS), neurosurgery(NS), orthopedic surgery(OS), obstetrics and gynecology(OBGY), otorhinolaryngology (ENT) surgical patients at one hospital in G city. Data were collected from December 2014 to December 2015, and the data were analyzed by t-test, $x^2$-test and logistic regression analysis. Multivariate analysis revealed that non smoking (p=.011), history of motion sickness (p=.020), history of PONV (p=.001), post operative pain (p=.001) were influence factors for PONV. Preoperative intensive management of PONV is necessary if there is a history of non smoker, history of motion sickness and history of PONV before surgery, and postoperative pain should be actively intervened.
