CONVERGENCE OF VISCOSITY APPROXIMATIONS TO FIXED POINTS OF NONEXPANSIVE NONSELF-MAPPINGS IN BANACH SPACES

  • Let E be a uniformly convex Banach space with a uniformly $G{\hat{a}}teaux$ differentiable norm, C a nonempty closed convex subset of E, and $T\;:\;C\;{\rightarrow}\;E$ a nonexpansive mapping satisfying the weak inwardness condition. Assume that every weakly compact convex subset of E has the fixed point property. For $f\;:\;C\;{\rightarrow}\;C$ a contraction and $t\;{\in}\;(0,\;1)$, let $x_t$ be a unique fixed point of a contraction $T_t\;:\;C\;{\rightarrow}\;E$, defined by $T_tx\;=\;tf(x)\;+\;(1\;-\;t)Tx$, $x\;{\in}\;C$. It is proved that if {$x_t$} is bounded, then $x_t$ converges to a fixed point of T, which is the unique solution of certain variational inequality. Moreover, the strong convergence of other implicit and explicit iterative schemes involving the sunny nonexpansive retraction is also given in a reflexive and strictly convex Banach space with a uniformly $G{\hat{a}}teaux$ differentiable norm.

POSITIVE SOLUTIONS OF SINGULAR FOURTH-ORDER TWO POINT BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS

  • In this paper, we consider singular fourth-order two point boundary value problems $u^{(4)}$ (t) = f(t, u), 0 < t < 1, u(0) = u(l) = u'(0) = u'(l) = 0, where $f:(0,1){\times}(0,+{\infty}){\rightarrow}[0,+{\infty})$ may be singular at t = 0, 1 and u = 0. By using the upper and lower solution method, we obtained the existence of positive solutions to the above boundary value problems. An example is also given to illustrate the obtained theorems.

Stress concentration factors in tubular T-joints stiffened with external ring under axial load

  • In this study, the SCFs in tubular T-joints stiffened with external ring under axial load are studied and discussed. After verification of the present numerical model with the results of several available experimental tests, 156 FE models were generated and analyzed to parametrically evaluate the effect of the joint geometry and the ring geometry on the SCFs. Results indicated that the SCF of the stiffened T-joints at crown point can be down to 24% of the SCF of the corresponding un-reinforced joint at the same point. Also, the effect of the ring on the SCF at saddle point is more remarkable than the effect of the ring on the SCF at crown point. Moreover, against un-reinforced joints under axial load, the SCF at saddle point of the stiffened joint is smaller than the SCF at crown point of that stiffened joint. The ring results in the redistribution of stresses in the ring and metal substrate. Also, the effect of the ring thickness on the decrease of the SCFs is slight and can be ignored. In final step, the geometric parameters affecting the SCFs of the stiffened T-joints are analyzed by multiple nonlinear regression analyses. An accurate formula is proposed for determining the SCFs.

Influence of the Point Source Inflow on the Water Quality Variation in the Downstream of Hyeongsan River (점오염원 유입이 형산강하류 수질변화에 미치는 영향)

  • The influence of the point source inflow on the water quality variation in the downstream of Hyeongsan River was investigated. As the results of seasonal variation, the pollutant concentrations of dry season were 1.5-4 times higher than those of wet season. The increase rate of $BOD_5$, $COD_{Mn}$, T-N, T-P due to point source were ranged to $8.1\sim42.6%$, $7.3\sim41.9%$ and $17.1\sim207%$ as the inflow of P1, P2 and P3, respectively. After P1, P2 and P3 inflow, the accumulated increase rate were 64.3%, 32.6%, 93.1% and 258.9% in $BOD_5$, $COD_{Mn}$, T-N, T-P, respectively. It was found that the influence of point source inflow on the water quality in the downstream of Hyeongsan River is severe.

  • In this paper, a new fixed point theorem in cone is applied to obtain the existence of at least one positive pseudo-symmetric solution for the second order three-point boundary value problem {x" + f(t, x, x')=0, t $\in$ (0, 1), x(0)=0, x(1)=x($\eta$), where f is nonnegative continuous function; ${\eta}\;{\in}$ (0, 1) and f(t, u, v) = f(1+$\eta$-t, u, -v).

  • In the paper, we obtain the existence of positive solutions and establish a corresponding iterative scheme for BVPs $$\{^{\;(\phi_p(u'))'\;+\;q(t)f(t,u)=0,\;0\;<\;t\;<\;1,}_{\;u(0)\;-\;B(u'({\eta}))\;=\;0,\;u'(1)\;=\;0}$$ and $$\{^{\;(\phi_p(u'))'\;+\;q(t)f(t,u)=0,\;0\;<\;t\;<\;1,}_{\;u'(0)\;=\;0,\;u(1)+B(u'(\eta))\;=\;0.}$$. The main tool is the monotone iterative technique. Here, the coefficient q(t) may be singular at t = 0, 1.

  • In these days, T-shirt is not only the simple wearing goods but also the suggestive communication, which is not showed outward as well as being intended. Also, it indicates expression of contemporary sensitive living, expression of substantial oneself, and the effective commercial promotion fer advertising fashion brand and promoting the object's sale. Following the above concept, the aim of this study is to understand the outstanding tendency of ' The T-shirt one-point graphic's functions and visual image ', which is appeared after 2001 in the fashion industry's commercial aspects. The visual image's applicative rate of the T-shirt one point graphic is the following; The best applicative rate on T-shirt one- point graphic is the visual image using the mix & match technique shown 42.8 percent applicative rate. The second one is the visual image using the typography shown 38.7 percent. The third one is the visual image using the animals and plants shown 8.5 percent. The fourth one is the visual image using the person's character shown 3.8 percent. The fifth one is the visual image using the geometry shown 2.4 percent. The least one is the visual image using the cartoon character shown 1.6 percent. On the other hand, another important function of t-shirt one-point graphic is the following; 1, The essential function as t-shirt design factor. 2, The promotional function as brand image marketing and brand advertisement. 3. The communicative function as discriminative strategy of object. 4. The achievable function as value added goods.

Runoff Characteristics of Non-point Pollutants Source in Suwon City (수원시 비점오염물질의 유출 특성)

  • This study was to investigate the runoff characteristics of non-point pollutants source at the urban area in Suwon city. The highest T-N and T-P concentration of rainfall runoff observed in agricultural area. In residential area, the highest $BOD_5$ and SS concentration of rainfall runoff was investigated. During rainfall events, the peak concentrations of SS and $BOD_5$ were observed after 1~2 hours of rainfall in urban area. Whereas, the peak concentrations occurred within 1~2 hours after rainfall and then the highest concentrations of SS and $BOD_5$ sharply decreased, showing strong first flush effect in urban area. The EMC results indicated that the highest value of T-N and T-P in agricultural area was observed. While residential area was shown the lowest EMC value as T-N and T-P. Non-point pollutant loads on the land use types in urban area were investigated in the order of residential>industrial>agricultural>highway. $BOD_5$ and SS loads on urban watershed were investigated in the order of Suwon>Hwangguji>Seoho>Wonchunri. Whereas, T-N and T-P loads on urban watershed were investigated in the order of Hwangguji>Suwon>Wonchunri>Seho.

Morphometric Study of the Upper Thoracic Sympathetic Ganglia

  • Objective : Morphometric data for the sympathetic ganglia (SG) of the upper thoracic spine was investigated to identify the exact location of the SG in order to reduce normal tissue injury in the thoracic cavity during thoracoscopic sympathectomy. Methods : In 46 specimens from 23 formalin-fixed adult cadavers, the authors measured the shortest distance from the medial margin of the T1, T2 and T3 SG to the most prominent point and medial margin of the corresponding rib heads, and to the lateral margin of the longus colli muscle. In addition, the distance between the most prominent point of the rib head and the lateral margin of longus colli muscle and the width of each SG were measured. Results : The shortest distance from the medial margin of the SG to the prominent point of corresponding rib head was on average 1.9 mm on T1, 4.2 mm, and 4.1 mm on T2, T3. The distance from the medial margin of the SG to the medial margin of the corresponding rib head was 4.2 mm on T1, 5.9 mm, and 6.3 mm on T2, T3. The mean distance from the medial margin of the SG to the lateral margin of the longus colli muscle was 6.7 mm on T1, 8.8 mm, 9.9 and mm on T2, T3. The mean distance between the prominent point of the rib head and the lateral margin of the longus colli muscle was 4.8 mm on T1, 4.6 mm, and 5.9 mm on T2, T3. The mean width of SG was 6.1 mm on T1, 4.1 mm, and 3.1 mm on T2, T3. Conclusion : We present morphometric data to assist in surgical planning and the localization of the upper thoracic SG during thoracoscopic sympathectomy.
