  • This paper presents plastic limit loads of piping branch junctions with local wall thinning under combined pressure and in-plane bending, based on systematic three-dimensional finite element limit analyses using elastic-perfectly plastic materials. An ideal branch junction without weld or reinforcement around the intersection is considered with two locations of wall thinning; one in the run pipe, and the other in the branch pipe. Based on FE results, effects of thinning geometries on plastic limit moments are quantified and simple approximations of plastic limit loads are proposed.

Liquid entrainment through a large-scale inclined branch pipe on a horizontal main pipe

  • T-junction structures play an important role in nuclear power plant systems. Research on liquid entrainment is mostly based on small-scale branch pipes (d/D ≤ 0.2) and attention paid to large-scale branch pipes (0.33 < d/D < 1) is insufficient. Accordingly, this study implements a series of experiments on the liquid entrainment of T-junction with different angles (32.2°,47.9°,62.3°,90°) through a large-scale branch (d/D = 0.675). The onset liquid entrainment is related to the gas phase Froude number Frg, the dimensionless gas chamber height hb/d and the branch pipe angle 𝜃. As Frg increases, hb/d also rises. With a constant hb/d, the onset liquid entrainment changes from droplets entrainment by the gas phase to that by the rising liquid film. The steady-state liquid entrainment is related to w3g, h/d and 𝜃. With constant w3g and h/d, the branch quality grows as the branch angle increases. With a certain h/d, the branch quality increases, as the w3g number increases.

연결된 결합 선로를 갖는 소형 브랜치 선로 결합기 (Miniaturization of Branch Line Coupler with Connected Coupled Lines)

  • 본 논문은 연결된 결합 선로를 이용하여 브랜치 선로 결합기를 소형화하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이 방법은 기존 마이크로스트립 브랜치 선로 결합기에 사용되는 ${\lambda}/4$ 선로를 같은 특성을 갖는 연결된 결합 선로로 대신한 방법이다. 연결된 결합 선로는 우-기 모드 해석 방법을 기반으로 Z 파라미터와 T 등가 회로로 분석하였다. 이 결과를 이용하여 연결된 결합 선로를 갖는 브랜치 선로 결합기를 중심 주파수 2.4 GHz에서 FR4 기판으로 설계하고 제작하였다. 실험 결과는 이론값과 잘 일치했다. 그리고 실험 결과, 기존 단일 마이크로스트립 선로로 구현된 결합기보다 37 % 크기가 줄어들었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 방법은 앞으로 이동 통신 빔 형성 안테나의 급전선인 Butler Matrix의 크기를 줄이는 방법으로 사용 가능하리라 사료된다.

  • We present some fixed point theorems for ((𝛼1, 𝛼2, ⋯, 𝛼n), p)-nonexpansive mappings in CAT(0) spaces. Moreover the properties of the fixed points set are studied. Many of them have been derived from new condition on these mappings, which makes the nonexpansive mapping T𝛼 := 𝛼1T ⊕ 𝛼2T2 ⊕ ⋯ ⊕ 𝛼nTn.

각형강관 T형 접합부의 휨거동에 관한 실험 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Flexural Behavior for T-joints with Square Hollow Structural Sections)

  • 비렌딜 트러스가 면내 휨모멘트 하중을 받는 지관 정방형의 각형강관 T형 접합부의 거동을 실험적으로 조사하기 위한 것이 본 논문의 목적이다. T형 접합부에서 각형강관 주관 플랜지면의 위에 각형강관 지관이 용접으로 접합되어 있다. 주요 변수로는 주관 두께에 대한 폭의 비($2{\gamma}$)로 ${16.7{\leq}2{\gamma}{\leq}33.3}$의 범위이고, 주관 폭에 대한 지관 폭의 비인 폭비($\beta$)로 ${0.40{\leq}{\beta}{\leq}0.71}$이다. 접합부에 면내 휨모멘트 하중이 작용하도록 총 9개의 실험체를 제작하여 실험하였다. 실험결과, 각형강관 지관 정방형의 T형 접합부에 대한 면내 휨강도는 주관 폭두께비와 폭비에 관계없이 주관 플랜지 휨변형에 의해 결정됨을 알 수 있다. 또한, 지관 정방형의 각형강관 T형 접합부의 면내 휨강도는 사용성에 의해 지배되는 것으로 나타나 면내 최대 휨강도는 1%B 변형시의 휨강도($M_{1%B}$)에 1.5배로 평가할 수 있는 것을 알 수 있다. 최종적으로 지관 정방형의 각형강관 T형 접합부에 대한 면내 휨강도는 주관의 폭두께비가 작을수록, 주관 폭에 대한 지관 폭의 비인 폭비가 클수록 접합부의 휨강도는 선형으로 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.

Impact of Transplanting on Tree Growth and Compartmentalization of Pruning Wounds in Acer palmatum Thunb

  • The objective of this study was to examine the impact of pruning (P treatment) and transplanting (T treatment) of Acer palmatum on cambial growth and compartmentalization of pruning wounds for one year after treatments. Changes of cambial electrical resistance (CER), sizes of pruning wounds, cambial growth of trunks and stems near the wounds, and total phenols at branch unions during the period were examined using a total of 49 trees. After harvesting, areas of discolored wood behind the wounds, relative proportions of extractives, holocellulose and lignin at branch unions were also determined. CER and the cambial growth of trunk at 30 cm above the ground (TGR) were inversely correlated, and differences of CER and TGR among three treatments were significant. TGRs of control, P treatment and P+T treatment after the treatments were 112.2%, 72.4% and 52.5% of the annual growth for the year before the treatments, respectively. The cambial growth rate of stem (SGR) at 1.5 cm above the branch bark ridge and the closure rate of pruning wound (WCR) for one year after treatments were positively correlated, and WCR of P treatment of 39.8% was significantly higher than that of P+T treatment of 31.8%. Wounds of P+T treatment formed greater discolored area per unit area of pruning wound (D/W Ratio) than those of P treatment significantly. Lower WCR and higher D/W Ratio of P+T treatment suggested less ability of compartmentalizing the wounds than P treatment. Total phenols at branch core of pruning wound for both treatments heightened a month after treatment, and then lowered. The contents at below core of the wound were higher than those at control ones continuously, while they became similar each other at above core. Relatively high phenol contents of the extractives at P+T treatment implied that trees with P+T treatment allocated more energy to compartmentalize their wounds. Holocellulose and lignin contents at the branch core of treated branch unions of both treatments were lower and higher, respectively, than at the same part of the union with living branch, as results of the tree reaction to protection from wounding and microbial invasion.

Relationship between Pod Development and Endogenous Cytokinin Content of the Floral Organ in Peanut

  • To find out the relationship between pod development and cytokinin contents during reproductive stage of peanut, the cytokinin contents, trans-zeatin ribo-side (t-ZR) and dihydrozeatin riboside (diZR), were investigated at 0, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after flowering (DAF). The amounts of t-ZR and diZR in cotyledon and first branch among primary branches were 3, 448 pmol/g (FW) and 4, 824 p/g (FW), respectively, which were higher than those of other branches. The t-ZR and diZR contents of lower parts on the branch from cotyledon node at 7 DAF were 579 pmol/g (FW) and 2, 028 pmol/g (FW), respectively, which were higher than those of upper parts. The cytokinin contents of reproductive organs as flowering progressed were increased at 0 and 14 DAF on branch and position of node. The cytokinin contents of upper part with pruning the lower part on the branch from cotyledon node were high 112-337% at 7 DAF and 14 DAF compared with those of the control. In case of remove the upper part of the first internode on main axis, t-ZR contents was 4.7 times higher than diZR contents at 7 DAF. The pod setting rate of flower and position on the branch from cotyledon node was closely related to the cytokinin contents during floral reproductive stage.

A Branch and Bound Algorithm for Solving a Capacitated Subtree of Tree Problem in Local Access Telecommunication Networks

  • Given a rooted tree T with profits and node demands, the capacitated subtree of a tree problem (GSTP) consists of finding a rooted subtree of maximum profit, subject to having total demand no larger than the given capacity H. We first define the so-called critical item for CSTP and find an upper bound on the optimal value of CSTP in O(n$^{2}$) time, where n is the number of nodes in T. We then present our branch and bound algorithm for solving CSTP and illustrate the algiruthm by using an example. Finally, we implement our branch-and-bound algorithm and compare the computational results with those for both CPLEX and a dynamic programming algorithm. The comparison shows that our branch-and-bound algorithm performs much better than both CPLEX and the dynamic programming algorithm, where n and H are the range of [50, 500] and [5000, 10000], respectively.

소양호 지류하천의 비점오염원 유출특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Out Flow Characteristics of Non-Point Source Pollution in the Branch River of So-yang Lake)

  • This study selected Naerin Stream, Inbuk Stream and Buk Stream, branch rivers of Soyang Dam, also area of highland agriculture as test sites and measured flow and water quality, particularly eutrophication factors (BOD, COD, T-N, and T-P) in precipitation season and non precipitation season for a year, 2008. Based on the result, the study examined the change in water quality in relation to flow, and created flow discharged - pollution loads regression line by estimating pollution loads flowed from each branch river. And the study calculated annual pollution discharge loads for unit area and proposed regression equation on it by using regression analysis.

신갈나무와 굴참나무 천연림(天然林) 생태계(生態系)의 현존량(現存量) 및 물질(物質) 생산성(生産性)에 관한 연구 (Biomass and Net Primary Productivity in Natural Forests of Quercus mongolica and Quercus variabilis)

  • 충청북도 충주지역에서 평균수령 67, 62년생 신갈나무와 굴참나무 천연림을 대상으로 표준지를 선정하고 각 표준지에서 각각 10본의 표본목을 선정, 벌채하여 지상부의 현존량과 물질 생산성을 조사 분석하였다. 충주지역의 현존량 및 물질 생산성의 추정에 상대생장식을 사용하여 추정하였는데, 추정 방정식 모형으로는 $Wt=aD^bH^c$$Wt=a(D^2H)^b$, $Wt=aD^b$ 보다 적합하였고, 두 수종 모두 성분별 단목 현존량의 표본값과 추정치를 T-검정하여 본 결과 유의차는 없었다. 임분의 현존량은 신갈나무 임분의 지상부 총량이 130.6 t/ha였고, 굴참나무 임분이 137.4 t/ha였다. 부위별로는 신갈나무 임분의 경우, 엽 5.1 t/ha(3.9%), 죽은가지 3.5 t/ha(2.7%), 생지부 29.7 t/ha(23.0%), 수피 16.2 t/ha(l2.5%), 그리고 수간목부 74.9 t/ha(58.0%)였다. 굴참나무 임분은 엽 3.8 t/ha(2.9%), 죽은가지 2.9 t/ha(2.2%), 생지부 24.3 t/ha(l8.4), 수피 20.4 t/ha(15.5%), 그리고 수간목부 80.4 t/ha(61.0%)였다. 두 임분의 1년간 생산할 수 있는 지상부 총량은 각각 신갈나무 임분이 10.0 t/ha/yr, 굴참나무 임분이 8.6 t/ha/yr였다. 본 참나무 천연림은 장령림이지만 온대 활엽수림의 순생산량(5~10 t/ha/yr)과 거의 유사한 양을 보였다.
