  • This paper presents a new continuation-based quasi-steady-state(CQSS) time-domain simulation algorithm incorporating a multiplicative aggregated load model for power systems. The authors' previous paper introduced a CQSS algorithm, which has the robust convergent characteristic near the singularity point due to the application of a continuation method. The previous CQSS algorithm implemented the load restoration in power systems using the exponent-based load recovery model that is derived from the additive dynamic load model. However, the reformulated exponent-based model causes the inappropriate variation of short-term load characteristics when switching actions occur, during time-domain simulation. This paper depicts how to incorporate a multiplicative load restoration model, which does not have the problem of deforming short-term load characteristics, into the time simulation algorithm, and shows an illustrative example with a 39-bus test system.

  • In this paper, in order to control uncertain missile autopilot, an adaptive fuzzy control(AEC) scheme via parallel distributed compensation(PDC) is developed for the multi-input/multi-output plants represented by the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model. Moreover adaptive law is designed so that the plant output tracks the stable reference model(SRM), From the simulations results, we can conclude that the suggested scheme can effectively solve the control problems of uncertain missile systems based on T-S fuzzy model.

  • In this paper, the performance improvement for the new KMA's Climate Prediction System (GloSea6), which has been built and tested in 2021, is presented by assessing the bias distribution of basic variables from 24 years of GloSea6 hindcasts. Along with the upgrade from GloSea5 to GloSea6, the performance of GloSea6 can be regarded as notable in many respects: improvements in (i) negative bias of geopotential height over the tropical and mid-latitude troposphere and over polar stratosphere in boreal summer; (ii) cold bias of tropospheric temperature; (iii) underestimation of mid-latitude jets; (iv) dry bias in the lower troposphere; (v) cold tongue bias in the equatorial SST and the warm bias of Southern Ocean, suggesting the potential of improvements to the major climate variability in GloSea6. The warm surface temperature in the northern hemisphere continent in summer is eliminated by using CDF-matched soil-moisture initials. However, the cold bias in high latitude snow-covered area in winter still needs to be improved in the future. The intensification of the westerly winds of the summer Asian monsoon and the weakening of the northwest Pacific high, which are considered to be major errors in the GloSea system, had not been significantly improved. However, both the use of increased number of ensembles and the initial conditions at the closest initial dates reveals possibility to improve these biases. It is also noted that the effect of ensemble expansion mainly contributes to the improvement of annual variability over high latitudes and polar regions.

  • Recently, object-oriented concepts and technology are on the leading edge of programming language and database systems research, and their usefulness in those contexts has been successfully demonstrated. The adoption of object-oriented concept to the design of model bases has several benefits. From the perspectives of object-oriented approach, models in a model base are viewed as object which encapsulate their states and behaviors. This paper focuses on the design of an object-oriented model base that handles various resources of DSS(data, knowledge, models, solvers) in a unified fashion. For the design of a model base, we adopted Object Modeling Techniques(OMT). An object model of OMT can be used for the conceptual design of an overall model base schema. The object model of OMT provides several advantages over the conventional approaches in model base design. The main advantage are model reuse, hierarchical model construction, model sharing, meta-modeling, and unified model object management.

  • This work describes an availability model of highly available systems to achieve Five-9's availability. Modern railway systems have raised users' expectations of powerful "always on" services. The crucial characteristics of these highly available services are essential to many modern businesses area, such as telecommunications, railway systems, information operations, Web-based businesses, and so on. The architecture-based model of system availability is useful to assess the feasibility of meeting a high availability target. The Markov model approach is straightforward for relative system engineers to adapt when they model highly available system failure and the failure recovery process. This work proposed the improved availability model through UML2.0. It is shown that the architecture-based model of system availability is a good reasonable by its application of the railway systems.

  • The mutagenicity after heating of different sugars (glucose, fructose, galactose, and tagatose) on the non-enzymatic browning reaction in different sugars and glycine model system was investigated. The model system containing 0.2 M glycine and 0.2 M of different sugars in 10 mL water was heated at $150{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. After heating, degree of non-browning reaction intensity and mutagenicity using Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 were examined. Heated glycine model systems containing different sugars increased their mutgenicity ranged from 30 to 372 revertant colonies. After heating for 40 min, mutagenicity was achieved with glycine model systems containing 4 different sugars with by 145, 356, 206, and 369 revertants per plate, respectively. The glycine model systems containing fructose or tagatose were significantly (p<0.05) higher mutagenic activity than glycine model systems containing glucose or galactose after 40 min of heating. The linear regression between Maillard reaction intensity and mutagenic activities (slope=32.38, $R^2=0.93$) indicates that mutagenicity could be fully ascribed to Maillard reaction products.

  • Accurate quantitative forecasting of rainfall for basins with a short response time is essential to predict flash floods. In this study, a Quantitative Flood Forecasting (QFF) model was developed by incorporating the evolving structure and frequency of intense weather systems and by using neural network approach. Besides using radiosonde and rainfall data, the model also used the satellite-derived characteristics of storm systems such as tropical cyclones, mesoscale convective complex systems and convective cloud clusters as input. The convective classification and tracking system (CCATS) was used to identify and quantify storm properties such as lifetime, area, eccentricity, and track. As in standard expert prediction systems, the fundamental structure of the neural network model was learned from the hydroclimatology of the relationships between weather system, rainfall production and streamflow response in the study area. All these processes stretched leadtime up to 18 hours. The QFF model will be applied to the mid-Atlantic region of United States in a forthcoming paper.

  • In this paper, we proposed an intelligent digital redesign method for a class of fuzzy-model-based controllers, effective fur stabilization of continuous-time nonlinear systems. The TS fuzzy model is used to expend the results of the digital redesign technique to nonlinear systems. The proposed method utilized the recently developed LMI technique to obtain a digitally redesigned fuzzy-model-based controller. The intelligent digital redesign problem is converted to equivalent problem, and the LMI method is used to find the digitally redesigned fuzzy-model-based controller. The stabilization conditions of TS fuzzy model are derived for stabilization in the sense of Laypunov stability. In order to demonstrates the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed controller design methodology, we applied this method to the single link flexible-joint robot arm.

  • Stereovision is known to be one of the most important tools for robot vision systems. Previously, 2D active contour model has been applied to stereovision by defining the contour on the 3D space instead of image plane. However, the proposed model is still that of curve so that some complex shapes such as surfaces with high curvature can not be properly estimated because of occlusion phenomena. In this paper, the authors extend the curve model to the surface model. The surface is approximated by polygons and new energy function and its optimization method for surface estimation is proposed. Its effectiveness is examined by experiments with real stereo images.
