The Determinants of Management Information Systems Effectiveness in Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises

  • This study develops a mediating model to explore the relationships between organizational characteristics, manager's knowledge, management commitment, user involvement, information quality, and management information system effectiveness in small- and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam. Adapting scales from previous research, the authors designed questionnaires, which they distributed to respondents in Vietnamese small- and medium-sized enterprises. Also, by employing a meta-analytic path analysis throughout structural equation modelling (SEM) with sample of 356 respondents, authors indicate that organizational characteristics are directly related to management information systems effectiveness. Moreover, manager's knowledge, user involvement, and information quality show their important roles in the increase of management information system effectiveness, yet management commitment does not indicate a similar role in the growth of management information system effectiveness. Bootstrapping is utilized to discover the meditating role of information quality, illustrating that quality information mediates the linkages between user involvement, organizational characteristics, and management information systems. However, the mediating role of information quality in the relationship between management commitment, manager's knowledge, and management information systems is not significant. This study contributes to the management information system literature as well as to enhance MIS effects in small and medium-sized enterprises.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate between CEO's Entrepreneurship in Venture Business and Organizational Effectiveness. CEO's Entrepreneurship variable consist of Innovativeness, Risk-taking and Proactiveness. Organizational effectiveness concept composed of system approach and the contingency theory and it's variable consisted of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Statistical methods are adapted Frequency, Factor Analysis and CFA(Confirmatory Factor Analysis) of LISREL.8 program. Refined Survey data are 412/Major findings are as follows; Only Proactiveness variable of CEO's entrepreneurship have significant relation to Organizational Effectiveness(job satisfaction and organizational involvement). Innovativeness and Risk taking variables are partially supported to influence to Organizational Effectiveness.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide a sensitivity analysis of system reliability for recognizing effectiveness of changing of BD mode failures using reliability growth projection model based on NHPP. Methods: Crow extended reliability projection model (CERPM) is used to analyze the changing of two factors 1) the number of BD mode failures, 2) fix effectiveness factor (FEF) values. Results: The system reliability has increased in accordance with the number of BD mode failures and FEF values have increased. Conclusion: It is necessary to design failure modes and FEF values to supervise the reliability.

  • Systems are often operated by not integration but blocking, i.e., non-standardization. The system blocking is mainly caused by non-standardization or incompatibility. The integrated system is effective, but researches for quantification of effectiveness from Integrating system are few. System blocking causes additional cost which is almost intangible and potential. In this paper we proposed a model to quantify the effectiveness of system integration. To verify the validity of proposed model, we applied the model for Korean information and communication industry and forecasted the cost of integration for South and North Korean telecommunication industry in the way of three scenarios.

  • The current contract awarding process regulated by laws and ordinances is analyzed and more reasonable processes are suggested. To this end, the principle of economic analysis is described with emphasis on the cost-effectiveness analysis, and the laws and ordinances regulating the process are thoroughly examined. The current contract awarding rule is based on the weighted sum of effectiveness score and cost score. This may not conform to the framework of economic analysis where effectiveness is supposed to be measured as an output and cost measured as an input. An improvement is attempted to the defense acquisition system and it is recognized that the economic analysis and policy consideration should be performed separately. Concept of statistical testing is introduced to see if the results of the cost effectiveness analyses show the significant difference between the alternatives. It is suggested that the contract awarding process can be improved by performing significance test followed by the aggregation of the two analyses. A minor improvement is also suggested on the application of current rules.

Analysis on the Age of Air and the Air Change Effectiveness of the Personal Environmental Module System in Intelligent Buildings

  • An interesting of desktop air-conditioning system is the Personal Environmental Module(PEM) System. The PEM system allows the occupant to choose the desired temperature, air volume and direction of the discharged air. In this study, the measurements on the age of air and the air change effectiveness, using the tracer gas method, are carried out to analyze the ventilation performance for provision of fresh air near the breathing zone by the PEM. The relations between the PEM for optimal control and other factors related to indoor air quality, and the ventilation for the PEM are examined. Also, three different supply diffuser types(desktop, floor and ceiling) are compared in view of their ability to distribute supply air to the workstation breathing zone. The desktop diffuser type could deliver air directly to the occupants breathing zone with a high degree of effectiveness. The minimum local age of air was measured in the breathing zone, which is directly supplied with air from the PEM diffusers, and the measured local air change effectiveness of the desktop diffuser in the breathing zone was about 1.13 to 1.23 times greater than that of the ceiling and floor diffusers. When the minimum outside air change rate as specified using ASHRAE Standard 62R is supplied with a desktop diffuser type, the volume of outside air can be reduced 13 to 23%, resulting in a commensurate in ventilation energy use.

  • 본 논문은 SBA 효과도에 대한 이해를 기반으로 국방 무기체계 개발이 어떤 형태로 진행되어야 하는지에 대한 제안을 담고 있다. 이러한 연구가 필요한 이유는 기존의 국방무기체계도입 환경이 SBA의 필요성에 대해서는 인지하고 있으나 이의 적용 시 나타나는 효과에 대해 적절히 제시하지 못하고 있는 데에 있다. 이러한 효과를 제시하기 위해서는 무엇보다 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 수행 시의 비용에 대한 산정이 어떻게 될지에 대한 연구가 선행되어야 하고 이를 기반으로 무기체계 개발 시 발생되는 비용과 관련한 로그를 기록으로 남기는 과정이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 요구사항과 필요성을 기반으로 국방 무기체계도입을 관리하는 시스템의 구조와 구성을 제안하고 이를 기반으로 제안된 시뮬레이션 시스템을 결과물로 제시한다. 본 연구의 기여점은 그동안 고려되지 못한 SBA의 효과도를 수치적으로 나타내기 위한 방법을 제시하는 데에 있으며 이를 기반으로 국방환경에서 활용 가능한 시스템의 개발을 제안한 데에 있다.

AHP & 모수추정법을 이용한 차기 다련장로켓의 비용대 효과분석 (A Study on the Analysis of the Cost-Effectiveness for the New Generation Multiple Launcher Rocket System Using AHP & Parametric Estimating)

  • Korean army currently considers the development of the new generation MLRS(Multiple Launcher Rocket System) as a new alternative, which responses on the renovation of the artillery and future battlefield environment. This study suggests that it presents cost-effectiveness of MLRS based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process and Parametric Estimating(PRICE H). According to this study, the cost-effectiveness of new generation MLRS presented that alternative A is 2.30 times and alternative B is 1.70 times, which are better than currently operating M270A1. Therefore, The best acquisition is alternative A that launcher is carried on currently operating 10ton standard truck but final acquisition alternative should be politically decided to consider viability of operator, performance and the latest of equipment.

  • 본 논문에서는 다수 무인 수상정의 위협에 대응하기 위한 함정용 유도로켓의 전투효과도를 세가지 경우에 대해서 분석하였다. 함정에 장착된 다양한 무기체계와 유도로켓 체계를 이용하여 거리별로 접근하는 다수 무인 수상정 격침 확률을 비교하였다. 분석결과 함정에 장착된 함포 대함미사일 근접방어체계 보다 유도로켓의 전투효과도가 향상됨을 알 수 있었다.

대공간 화재시 배연효율 정의에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Definition of the Exhaust Effectiveness of Smoke under Fire in a Large Space)

  • This paper investigates the exhaust effectiveness of smoke, in the case of fire in a large atrium space. Numerical analysis was conducted to simulate transient fire growth in a test room, modeled by the Murcia atrium fire test. Various indices representing the exhaust performance of the exhaust system were obtained, such as the height of the smoke layer, and the instantaneous and accumulative capture efficiency of the smoke. The residual life time of smoke from the fire was also obtained, by injecting tracer gases at the fire location, depending on the airflow rate, and the location of the exhausts. The capture efficiency based on smoke concentration at the exhausts exhibits how much smoke can be removed by the exhaust system; whereas, the exhaust effectiveness based on residual life time indicates how rapidly the smoke can reach the exhaust locations, before being exhausted. The definitions and meanings of the indices to be used in representing the exhaust performance of a smoke exhaust system installed in a large space are discussed.
