  • When happen the electrical facilities accident the one's diagnosis system of fault cause was constructed by FMEA method Cable accident cause is given by accident cause that can happen in each one's diagnosis and accident probability value. From the verification of system, the one's diagnosis system agreed well with result that analyzed actual state. Thus, the system is judged to be used effectively examine for accident cause of electrical facilities.

  • The class of Dynamic Positioning System is divided in 3 classes depending on its redundancy and reliability according to IMO and classification society. There are 3 DP classes such as DP Class 1, 2 and 3 according to IMO MSC/Circ. 645. Higher DP class vessel has higher reliability, since redundancy concept is applied to the DP vessel depending on its DP class and can operate more safely. There are not enough information about DP class notation, which are needed when a company builds a new or buys second hand DP vessel or modifies DP classes, even the Korean shipyard is building a lot of DP vessels now. Also, the practical case of DP vessel modification, which had been done in Korea, to meet DP notation of IMO and classification society, will be helpful for DP vessel modification and sales industry development in Korea as a new business. As such this research identified what kind of requirements need to be taken into account to be from DP class 1 to DP class 2. The real DP class modification case is used to identify the requirements of DP class upgrade. Through the FMEA the redundancy concept on power system, thruster system and DP control system need to apply for DP class upgrade. The power system have to keep its DP function even if just a single fault happens on the generator or switchboard. Also, the PMS is required to monitor and control power system. Ship's Surge, Sway and Yaw movements can be controlled by the remaining thruster system after a single thruster fails. Lastly, multiple installation of PRS, sensors and DP control system are required to keep DP ability after a single fault on the DP control systems.

  • Digitalization of not only non-safety but also safety-grade I &C systems with full computerized Main Control Room (MCR) is the recent trend of I&C systems of nuclear power plants (NPP) around the world, while plant maintenance has been shifting from traditional time based maintenance to condition based maintenance. In order to cope with the new trend of operation and maintenance in NPP, a concept of online distributed diagnostic system for both plant operation and maintenance has been proposed in order to further improve both the plant efficiency and the work environment of plant operation staff members by organizational learning. In this respect, the research subjects of human machine interface (HMI) for the online distributed diagnostic system are also discussed for supporting the plant personnel at both MCR and local working places in the plant by the application of advanced ICT (Information and Communication Technologies).

  • This paper describes the testing facility to demonstrate the performance of the distribution class circuit breakers and switchgears and the testing methods. The field-test evaluation system consists of two parts. One is the distribution system for simulation of the condition on interruption mode of switches which are installed in the system and tested by the AFG(Artificial Fault Generator) and the thunderbolt generator just like in the real field. The other is a laboratory for confirmation or the important characteristics regarding to the insulation, gas, environment durability of equipment. For the fatal failure mode, a FMEA(Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) technique which is a kind of a structural analysis to consider a counter-plan was emploved.

  • The recent development of Sensor technology has broadened its applications to many fields of industry including railroad. The sensor technology enables the railroad system to monitor and control. This paper suggests the sensor based system design for evaluating and improving the reliability and safety of the ICT system. For this purpose, the reliability and the level of safety integrity of a general gateway have been predicted quantitatively and the supplementary design has been proposed for RAMS improvement. RAMS requirements for each life cycle stipulated in IEC 62278. RAMS activity is capable of producing significant and effective reductions in operation costs and time.

In this paper, an analysis method is suggested to evaluate the level of availability improvement by adding the fault diagnosis function in the control system of Reactor Protection System. The Failure Mode Effect Analysis(FMEA), MIL-HDBK-217F, and Makov modelling techniques are used for availability assessment.

  • The increase in hazard level is attributed to the industrial hazard environment; complete national environmental hazards to human health include climate change. The damage level in Korea from 1993 to 2009 has exceeded the Increase In adverse environmental conditions. Priority areas of concern will include those risks that are most likely to occur and are expensive when they do take place such as accident or injury at a community pool. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the System Engineering method for application to the railway RAMS. Recently, the requirement of high-integrity level of infrastructure has been deemed important. The systems level approach is defined through the assessment of the RAMS interactions between elements of complex system applications.

  • Reliability is an important issue on the digital reactor protection system. This paper presents a Quantitative reliability evaluation method to find out an improvement effect of availability for the digital control module with a fault detection function. It is a reliability evaluation model which considers only the electronics parts ocurring a spurious reactor trip by the FMEA(Failure Mode Effect Analysis). Applying the previous and present methods to the reactor protection system, the availability factors are evaluated and compared.

Control human error analyzes in human control with and considers mechanical element and several elements. Also, apply achievement factor using O'conner Model by control method of human error. In analyze by failure mode effect using actuality example.

  • The Start-up transformers or on-site stand-by transformers are installed for the start-up and shut-down of generator and emergency status in unclear power plant. The on-site power supply configuration using these transformers must be detemined by considering configuration requirements, site characteristics, reliability and availability severely because it is remarkably important for safety and benefit of plant. The start-up or stand-by power supply configuration has been determined considering only safety requirements and construction cost up to now in Korea. I study various reliability estimating methods for the prediction of availability, and estimate the unavailability for the start-up power supply system of two 1,000㎿ unclear power plants. I also detemine the reliability and unavailability and unavailavility of equipment, system and configuration using FTA method.
