Conservation treatment that involved filling the lifting parts of wooden cultural heritage is carried out by obtaining wood or wood powder of the same species and mixing it with synthetic resin or natural glue to charge the blank area. Various concentrations and mixing ratios of adhesives and additives are used, depending on the type and condition of the target. Accordingly, in this study, we determined the conditions of the filler suitable for conservation treatment of wooden sculptures with lifted or separated bark in the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. The optimal filler conditions for each adhesive were selected based on drying speed, shrinkage and expansion rates, and physical deformation degree. Then, to verify their actual applicability, these fillers were applied to wood and exposed to high-humidity environment and their cross-sections were observed. The fillers showed stable application in the following order: animal glue, PVAc adhesive, acrylic adhesive. In conclusion, a 1:2 mixture of animal glue and wood powder is a suitable filler for conservation treatment of wooden sculpture with lifted bark. The results of this study suggest appropriate ways to stabilize the bark that was lifted or separated from a wooden sculpture, thus enabling the future conservation treatment of the artworks under similar conditions.
In this research, many effects were examined by testing of adhesive intensity and accelerated weathering with synthetic resins for the conservation treatment of cracks and damaged parts of Kyound Chun-Sa10-story Pagodas, the National Treasure No. 86.It was tested with two kinds of Epoxy resins, Acrylic, Silicone resin, and five kinds of Acetics vinyl resins, and then which was ensured a successful result with Epoxy resins. According to these consequences, they are determined to treat damaged parts with Epoxy resin.
This basic research was conducted to support the development of woodcraft bio-adhesives using peach gum, which is the resin produced by peach trees. The synthesis conditions of these adhesives were optimized by performing 144 experiments. The application potential of peach gum adhesives was explored by comparing their properties with those of three natural adhesives and four synthetic adhesives. The best adhesive strength was obtained by dissolving the resin in 80 mL of distilled water containing 1.5 g NaOH, 1.65 g H2O2 ( pH 8.0-9.0), 0.5 g NaClO, and 0.5 g H2BO2. The adhesive strength, which showed minimal changes and excellent reversibility, was 125.39 kgf/cm2. Ultraviolet radiation-mediated deterioration in strength in the absence of total aerobic bacteria was negligible (△E*ab = 2.75). These data confirm the potential value of peach gum-based bio-adhesives for woodcraft as well as their utility as alternatives for natural and synthetic adhesives used for the manufacture and restoration of handicrafts and preservation of cultural assets.

Objectives: The need for proper wound closure is of paramount importance after any intra-oral surgery. Various wound closure techniques have been described in literature using traditional non-absorbable suture materials. These include like synthetic absorbable sutures, surgical staples and tissue adhesives. Cyanoacrylates are among the most commonly used biocompatible tissue adhesives. To evaluate and compare intraoral wound healing using 3-0 silk sutures and n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate after alveoloplasty. Materials and Methods: A total of 20 patients requiring bilateral alveoloplasty in the same arch (upper or lower) were included in this study. Patients with any pre-existing pathology or systemic disease were excluded. After alveoloplasty was performed, the wound was closed using 3-0 braided silk sutures on one side, and using n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate bio adhesive on the other side. Patients were evaluated based on the following parameters: time required to achieve wound closure; the incidence of immediate and postoperative hemostasis; the time to the use of the first rescue medication; the side where pain first arises; and the side where wound healing begins first. Results: Compared to 3-0 silk sutures, cyanoacrylate demonstrated better hemostatic properties, reduced operative time, reduced postoperative pain and better wound healing. Conclusion: These data suggest that cyanoacrylate glue is an adequate alternative to conventional sutures to close the surgical wound after alveoloplasty, and better than are 3-0 silk sutures.

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are enzymes that can degrade collagen in hybrid layer and reduce the longevity of adhesive restorations. As scientific understanding of the MMPs has advanced, useful strategies focusing on preventing these enzymes' actions by MMP inhibitors have quickly developed in many medical fields. However, in restorative dentistry, it is still not well established. This paper is an overview of the strategies to inhibit MMPs that can achieve a long-lasting material-tooth adhesion. Literature search was performed comprehensively using the electronic databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect and Scopus including articles from May 2007 to December 2019 and the main search terms were "matrix metalloproteinases", "collagen", and "dentin" and "hybrid layer". MMPs typical structure consists of several distinct domains. MMP inhibitors can be divided into 2 main groups: synthetic (synthetic-peptides, non-peptide molecules and compounds, tetracyclines, metallic ions, and others) and natural bioactive inhibitors mainly flavonoids. Selective inhibitors of MMPs promise to be the future for specific targeting of preventing dentin proteolysis. The knowledge about MMPs functionality should be considered to synthesize drugs capable to efficiently and selectively block MMPs chemical routes targeting their inactivation in order to overcome the current limitations of the therapeutic use of MMPs inhibitors, i.e., easy clinical application and long-lasting effect.
The first priority we face in the conservation of wall paintings, is the conservation of painting layer. The 'painting layer' is sometimes called the pigment layer, and refers to the painted surface. For the consolidation of this painting layer we use 'fixative'. Fixative is a common adhesive which has been used in various field and conservators have made up for the weak points in the consolidation of wall paintings. In my thesis, I will summarise the range of use, standards of selection, and results of research on the use of fixative in the conservation of European paintings. In addition, I will describe various kinds of our traditional fixatives. As synthetic resins have proved that it is not ideal as a fixative for wall painting, conservators have studied to find an alternative. Same as European conservators, Asian scientists has researched to find alternative fixative which is more suitable to the wall paintings in Asia based on their traditional techniques and materials. Therefore, 1 have studied to find an adequate fixative for our own wall paintings and I could conclude that we can consider traditional fixative which is made of 'seaweeds' as an alternative and it is very important to proceed research and experiment on this material.

In this study, emulsion polymerizations for synthesizing acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive(PSA) were carried out using 2-ethylhexyl acrylate(2-EHA), n-butyl acrylate(n-BA), methyl metacrylate(MMA) as fundamental monomers and acrylic acid(AAc) as a functional monomer in the presence of anionic SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate). To obtain the optimized synthetic condition in the polymerization, we analyzed the polymerization variables such as the effect of surfactant concentration and hydrophilic lipophilic values(HLB). At the same time, the final adhesive properties were also analyzed by the function of the initiator concentration and buffer concentration. In the results, the most stable emulsion was obtained at the surfactant concentrations between 3 and 5 wt%. It was also determined the effect of HLB value of nonionic surfactant and the initiator concentrations on the gel content. Stable emulsion is obtained using the surfactant having HLB value of 12.3. The rate of emulsion polymerization was increased at the initiator concentration greater than 1 wt%, but the stability of the emulsion was decreased. Finally, the effect of the buffer concentrations on the pH and the conversion of the acrylic emulsion product were experimentally measured. At the sodium bicarbonate concentration above 0.4 wt%, the buffer infulence was apparent. The buffer effect was fully acceptable at the concentrations between 0.6 and 0.8 wt% regardless of the monomer composition.
The most important part of conservation treatment of murals is to preserve them against the risk of a damage by injecting fixative into them when the painting loses its cohesion or powderization of pigments occurred due to occurrence of cracks inside the painting layer. However, studies on the stability of fixative used for painting layers of murals are still insufficient. This study manufactured a mural as a specimen and colored it with four kinds of pigments including oyster shell white, cinnabar, malachite and red clay and applied four kinds of fixative, including, Paraloid $B-72^{(R)}$, Caparol-$binder^{(R)}$, glue and Hydoxypropyl $cellulose^{(R)}$. artificially generated environmental changes in temperature, humidity and ultraviolet rays which may occur after the completion of conservation treatment. Then the changes in physical properties were observed in multifaceted ways such as color stability, contact angle, brilliance, adhesive strength and surface. As a result, this study found that ultraviolet rays and hot?humid environment have a large impact on color stability causing changes in brightness and chroma of all painting layers where the fixative were applied, except for oyster shell white and are considered the main factors of decomposition by accelerating the aging process of fixatives applied. In comparison to the synthetic resins that were also tested in this study, the traditional glue showed satisfactory results in terms of color stability and influence preservation and the hydrophile property. As it showed exceptionally outstanding adhesive strength in all painting layers in the aspect of adhesive strength, it is considered to be highly stabile for the fixation treatment of painting layers of mural.

The waterproofing in slab and wall of underground structure, have a couple of construction methods which are inside waterproofing methods for inner surface, and outside waterproofing methods for out wall and slab surface waterproofing. In resent years, however, it has been adapted the inside waterproofing construction method, as increasing of construction expenses cost and low workability and technology, nevertheless, outside waterproofing has set a most high value construction method. In inside waterproofing construction method, it is difficult to repair and assure durability and safety for concrete which has direct water-press. So, It is necessary for adopt the outside waterproofing method. For that reasons, this study based on the application for outside waterproofing method on the under ground structure, to more increase durability, to introduce mono adhesive sheet waterproofing materials. as considering chemical, physical properties.
A chimeric gene encoding enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) and a S-layer protein from Lactobacillus brevis KCTC3102, and/or two copies of the Fe-binding Z-domain, a synthetic analog of the B-domain of protein A, was constructed and expressed in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3). The S-layer fusion proteins produced in a 500-1 fermentor were likely to be stable in the range of pH 5 to 8 and $0^{\circ}C$ to $40^{\circ}C$. Their adhesive property enabled an easy and rapid immobilization of enzymes or antibodies on solid materials such as plastics, glass, sol-gel films, and intestinal epithelial cells. Owing to their affinity towards intestinal cells and immunoglobulin G, the S-layer fusion proteins enabled the adhesion of antibodies to human epithelial cells. In addition, feeding a mixture of the S-layer fusion proteins and antibodies against neonatal calf diarrhea (coronavirus, rotavirus, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella typhimurium) to Hanwoo calves resulted in 100% prevention of neonatal calf diarrhea syndrome (p<0.01), whereas feeding antibodies only resulted in 56% prevention.
