  • 무인항공기(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, UAV)는 짧은 시간 동안 넓은 범위의 정찰이 가능하기 때문에 최근에는 이를 활용한 감시 시스템 연구가 주목을 받고 있다. 넓은 범위를 감시할 때 조종사가 반복적으로 UAV를 비행시키는 것은 운영에 필요한 비용 문제가 발생한다. 감시를 위한 비행경로를 사전에 정의할 수 있다면 이를 기반으로 UAV를 자율 비행시켜 비용 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 전통적인 접근 방법은 GPS를 기반으로 비행할 경로를 다수 개의 모터프리미티브로 정의한다. 하지만, UAV가 감시할 지점이 모터프리미티브에 반영되지 않아 감시가 제대로 수행되지 못하는 문제가 발생한다. 이 논문에서는 감시용 UAV를 자율 비행시키기 위한 모터프리미티브의 구조를 제안한다. 모터프리미티브는 감시 대상을 정확히 기술하기 위해서 자동으로 감시할 지점을 선택하여 생성된다.

  • This paper proposes an intelligent video surveillance system for human object tracking. The proposed system integrates the object extraction, human object recognition, face detection, and camera control. First, the object in the video signals is extracted using the background subtraction. Then, the object region is examined whether it is human or not. For this recognition, the region-based shape descriptor, angular radial transform (ART) in MPEG-7, is used to learn and train the shapes of human bodies. When it is decided that the object is human or something to be investigated, the face region is detected. Finally, the face or object region is tracked in the video, and the pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) controllable camera tracks the moving object with the motion information of the object. This paper performs the simulation with the real CCTV cameras and their communication protocol. According to the experiments, the proposed system is able to track the moving object(human) automatically not only in the image domain but also in the real 3-D space. The proposed system reduces the human supervisors and improves the surveillance efficiency with the computer vision techniques.

  • Bioterrorism events have worldwide impacts, not only in terms of security and public health policy, but also in other related sectors. Many countries, including Korea, have set up new administrative and operational structures and adapted their preparedness and response plans in order to deal with new kinds of threats. Korea has dual surveillance systems for the early detection of bioterrorism. The first is syndromic surveillance that typically monitors non-specific clinical information that may indicate possible bioterrorism-associated diseases before specific diagnoses are made. The other is infectious disease specialist network that diagnoses and responds to specific illnesses caused by intentional release of biologic agents. Infectious disease physicians, clinical microbiologists, and infection control professionals play critical and complementary roles in these networks. Infectious disease specialists should develop practical and realistic response plans for their institutions in partnership with local and state health departments, in preparation for a real or suspected bioterrorism attack.

  • In this paper, we propose a vision system using a field programmable gate array(FPGA) and a smart vision chip. The output of the vision chip is varied by illumination conditions. This chip is suitable as a surveillance system in a dynamic environment. However, because the output swing of a smart vision chip is too small to definitely confirm the warning signal with the FPGA, a modification was needed for a reliable signal. The proposed system is based on a transmission control protocol/internet protocol(TCP/IP) that enables monitoring from a remote place. The warning signal indicates that some objects are too near.

Real-Time Surveillance of People on an Embedded DSP-Platform

  • This paper presents a set of techniques used in a real-time visual surveillance system. The system is implemented on a low-cost embedded DSP platform that is designed to work with stationary video sources. It consists of detection, a tracking and a classification module. The detector uses a statistical method to establish the background model and extract the foreground pixels. These pixels are grouped into blobs which are classified into single person, people in a group and other objects by the dynamic periodicity analysis. The tracking module uses mean shift algorithm to locate the target position. The system aims to control the human density in the surveilled scene and detect what happens abnormally. The major advantage of this system is the real-time capability and it only requires a video stream without other additional sensors. We evaluate the system in the real application, for example monitoring the subway entrance and the building hall, and the results prove the system's superior performance.

  • 최근에 개발되는 다양한 형태의 무인기시스템에서, 지상의 조종장치와 무인기간의 연결을 담당하는 통신체계를 데이터링크라고한다. 특히, 군 분야의 무인기에서 획득한 감시/정찰용 영상정보를 실시간으로 지상으로 전송하기위하여 사용되는 공용데이터링크는 특성상 통신의 안정성 확보를 우선으로 한다. 본 논문에서는 감시/정찰용 무인기에 적용하기위한 데이터링크의 모뎀분야에 대한 설계를 제안하고, 구현된 시스템의 성능측정을 통하여 설계를 검증하였다.

  • Surveillance system on the internet has attained lots of interests recently. Computer gives surveillance system various functions like remote control and motion detecting. In this paper. auto target tracking system using Pan/Tilt camera is suggested. It consists of UNIX server and Pan/Tilt camera. When UNIX server detect motions from images it sends Pan/Tilt command to camera and camera moves by command. After finishing movement camera replies to server and server starts detecting motion again. To improve performance of motion detecting and tracking images are divided into 9 sub-regions and camera behaves differently. It is certain that robust tracking is achieved when sub-region is applied.

  • This paper describes a new progressive embedded Internet Protocol(IP) camera available for real-time image transmission. It was applied for ship safety and security on seashore area. The functions of developed embedded system was more effective and excellent than conventional systems. Nowadays, each nation has established harbor security systems to jump up their ports to international port. Recently Incheon port has tried to change man security into center security system used by image security system. The security system of Incheon port has some advantages like effectivity of security system and reduction of manpower and cost, installed by image security system with CCTV cameras at the entrance gate and around the fence. Thus in this paper, we have designed and implemented a Personal Digital Assistants(PDA) based Image Surveillance System for Harbor Security using IP Camera under ubiquitous environment. This system has big advantages which are more effective in an emergency and low cost and small manpower than conventional systems.

  • This paper introduces a graphical user interface design that is aimed to apply to the surveillance and security robot, which is the pilot program for the army unmanned light combat vehicle. It is essential to consider the activities of robot users under the changing security environment in order to design the efficient graphical user interface between user and robot to accomplish the designated mission. The proposed design approach firstly identifies the user activities to accomplish the mission in the standardized scenarios of military surveillance and security operation and then develops the hierarchy of the interface elements that are required to execute the tasks in the surveillance and security scenarios. The developed graphical user interface includes input control component, navigation component, information display component, and accordion and verified by the potential users from the various skilled levels with the military background. The assessment said that the newly developed user interface includes all the critical elements to execute the mission and is simpler and more intuitive compared to the legacy interface design that was more focused on the technical and functional information and informative to the system developing engineers rather than field users.

  • 개개인의 사생활 보호와 인권존중이라는 명분하에 감시시스템에 대한 비판적 시각으로 인해 그동안 침체되었던 CCTV 시장이 911 테러 이후 보안에 대한 중요성 제고와 사회적 범죄 예방에 대한 의식변화로 인해 전 세계적으로 새로운 국면을 맡고 있는 상황에 국내의 첨단 IT기술과의 접목을 통한지능형 감시시스템으로의 변화를 꾀하고 있으며 원격지에서 사각지대 없이 촬영된 영상을 인터넷을 통하여 어느 지역에서도 실시간으로 감시 및 제어할 수 있어 연구하고자 한다.
