  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the mediating effect of social support and resilience on the relationship between symptom distress and coping in young Korean breast cancer survivors. Methods: A purposive sample of 209 young breast-cancer survivors (mean age 39.9) was recruited for a cross-sectional survey, and the data were collected between June and October 2015. The instruments used in this study were the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale-Short Form, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and Cancer Coping Questionnaire. The collected data were then analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs. Results: Symptom distress was found to have a significant indirect effect on coping (beta=-.32, p=.002), but not a significant direct effect (beta=.06, p=.577). Additionally, based on the values obtained for the squared multiple correlation, symptom distress, social support, and resilience were found to explain 46.4% of the total variance of coping. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be suggested that in order to enhance young breast cancer survivors' ability to cope with the distress they commonly feel, intervention methods that strengthen resilience and provide social support should be developed and made available to them.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine effect of incivility, resilience, and social support experienced by nursing students on burnout in clinical practice. Methods: Subjects were 140 nursing students who agreed to participate in this study. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS WIN 23.0 program. Results: Burnout showed significantly positive correlation with incivility but significantly negative correlations with resilience and social support. Factors affecting burnout were satisfaction with major-dissatisfaction, satisfaction with major-average, social support, grade, and relationship with peers. Satisfaction with major (dissatisfaction) had the greatest effect on burnout, explaining 41% of the total variance. Conclusion: According to this study, dissatisfaction with major was identified as the most significant factor influencing burnout of nursing students in clinical practice. Therefore, it is important to develop and implement programs that can reduce dissatisfaction with major and increase social support and relationship with peers in order to lower burnout of nursing students. In addition, a systemic management of fourth-grade students with a high level of clinical practice is necessary to reduce the level of clinical practice. • Purpose - This study analyzed the correlation and influence between social support, trust (seller, brand), and continuous purchase intention in C2C social commerce in China. Design/methodology/approach - To test the hypothesis, SPSS and Smart PLS 3.0 statistical packages were used based on the collected data. Findings - First, it was confirmed that social support (emotional support, informational support) had a positive effect on trust in sellers. Second, it was found that trust in sellers had a positive effect on brand trust. Third, both seller trust and brand trust have a positive effect on consumers' continuous purchase intention. Research implications or Originality - When consumers gain emotional and informational support from sellers, trust in sellers will be effectively improved. Companies wishing to improve brand credibility of their products will have to outsource the sale of their products to trusted sellers. The C2C social commerce platform should build its own trust rating system, recommend sellers with high reliability ratings, and encourage sellers to provide consumers with a lot of information about their brand.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to confirm the relationship between nursing students' self-determination and life satisfaction in order to clarify the mediating effect of grit and social support, which can have a mutual influence on self-determination and life satisfaction. Methods: The data collection for this study was conducted from January 1 to 31, 2022, with nursing students enrolled in nursing departments at six universities located in three regions. The data collected in this study were analyzed using the IBM SPSS statistics 25.0 program. Results: The study found correlations between life satisfaction and self-determination (r=.64, p<.001), grit (r=.41, p<.001), and social support (r=.46, p<.001). Grit (B=0.06) and social support (B=0.06) showed a mediating effect in the relationship between self-determination and life satisfaction. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it is suggested that a program that can enhance the life satisfaction of nursing students be developed and implemented by focusing on social support, which is an external resource, and self-determination and grit, which are internal resources.

  • This paper aims to examine the role of government's support in facilitating small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs)' green dynamic capabilities and green SCM practices in a global market. It also investigates whether government support, green dynamic capabilities, and green SCM practices affect export competitiveness. To develop those hypotheses, prior studies and in-depth interviews were conducted and data was collected from Korean manufacturing companies that export abroad and then developed the structural equation model. The hypotheses test results revealed that green dynamic capabilities through government support positively affect export competitiveness and green SCM practices through green dynamic capabilities have positive effects on export competitiveness. Finally, this study is valuable in that it directly and indirectly confirmed the effect of eco-friendly government support on export competitiveness.

  • This study investigated the relation between stressful life events and adjustment in elementary school children, with particular emphasis on the potential main and stress-buffering effects of social support and social problem solving skills. 4-6 graders (N=170) completed the Social Support Appraisals Scale(SSAS) and social problem solving skills task. The SSAS is a 31-item measure that taps the child's perceptions or appraisals of family, peer, and teacher support. Their parents provided ratings of stress in the child's environment and ratings of the child's behavioral adjustment. Teachers provided ratings of the child's behavioral and academic adjustment. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses and graphic display were used to analyze the data. The major findings were that (1) The results for parent-rated problems supported a stress-buffering model for family support and problem solving. (2) The results for teacher-rated problems were consistent with the stress-buffering model of social support. (3) The results for grade-point average supported a main effect model for problem solving. peer support, and family support. In addition, teacher support had the strongest stress-buffering effect on grade-point average.

  • This study investigates the relationships among emotional support from social network, ego-resiliency, and role conflict of teachers in kindergartens and day care centers. The subjects were 192 teachers who worked in kindergartens or child care centers in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province. Questionnaires, which require self-report by teachers, were used to investigate the emotional support from social network, ego-resiliency, and role conflict. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation, single and multiple regressions, using SPSS Win 15.0. The results are as follows. (1) Emotional support from social network and ego-resiliency was negatively associated with the role conflict of teachers in kindergartens and day care centers. (2) Emotional support from social network was positively associated with ego-resiliency. (3) Emotional support from social network partly exerted indirect effects on role conflict mediated by ego-resiliency. But direct effect of emotional support from social network on role conflict was more than the indirect effect. These results indicate that a higher level of emotional support from social network is more likely to lower role conflict of teachers.

  • It has been repeatedly reported that the quality and quantity of relationships with other people moderate responses to stress and influence health and adjustment. This evidence has stimulated research on the characteristics of social support. In this review, the definition of social support for parents will be discussed. This study also will connect the concept of social support with family theories such as the human ecology theory and the developmental contextualism. The findings from previous studies will be summarized to examine the effects of social support on parenting and to understand the social support within a cultural context.
