Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify impact of stress on depression among university students and the moderating effect of social support in the relationship between stress and depression in university students. Methods: A total of 445 subjects were participated from May to July 2011. Data were collected by self-reported questionnaires and t-test, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 20.0 were used to analyze the data. Results: The results indicate that depression was increased by stress and decreased with social support. Social support included four type of social support behavior; emotional support, informational support, material support, and appraisal support. Multiple regression analysis showed that moderating effect of emotional support was significant when provided by friends but not by parents. Conclusion: These finding indicate the importance of emotional support of friends on depression in university students.
Knowledge creation has become one of core assets for companies' survival and success, companies are putting their effort to find the way to stimulate sharing knowledge among their workers. In this vein, the purpose of this study was to examine the effect of supervisor support and co-worker support on knowledge sharing and the mediating effects of work engagement. 328 employees from varity of organizations located in Korea particiapted for questionnaire survey. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. The result has shown that the static correlation exists between supervisor support, co-worker support and work engagement. Co-worker support had positive influences on knowledge sharing intention. However, supervisor support did not have any influence on knowledge sharing intention. There was a mediate effect of work engagement between both of supervisor and co-worker support and knowledge sharing intention. The study implies that co-worker support is important in order to improve organizational learning and work engagement as a strategy to enhance organizational performance.
This paper investigate relationship between job burnout, social support and knowledge creation, sharing. also, social support are moderate on the relationship between job burnout and knowledge creation, sharing. We build up main effect and moderating effect hypothesis. To test hypothesis, survey method are performed. The results are as follows. first, emotional exhaustion and low personal accomplishment have negative effects on knowledge creation, but haven't effect on knowledge sharing. second, social support significant positively impact on knowledge creation and sharing. third, both of supervisor' support and coworker's support partially moderate the relationship between job burnout and knowledge creation, sharing. especially, emotional exhaustion reduce supervisor' support to knowledge creation, sharing and low personal accomplishment reduce co-worker' support to knowledge sharing, which means although job burnout preceded, if employees perceived high level of social support that have buffering effects on the relationships.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of professional quality of life among hospital nurses in the effects of workplace bullying, social support and resilience on retention intention. Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted on 414 hospital nurses who worked for at least two months at a general hospital in the Seoul metropolitan area. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 23.0/AMOS 22.0 programs and employed reliability verification, descriptive statistics include frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and bootstrapping. Results: As a result of the study's structural modeling verification, workplace bullying had a negative effect, social support had a positive effect, resilience had a positive effect on professional quality of life, and professional quality of life had a positive effect on retention intention. Also, workplace bullying, social support, and resilience did not directly impact on retention intention. However, the professional quality of life had a complete mediating effect in the relationships between workplace bullying, social support, resilience and retention intention. The study results verified the mediating effect of professional quality of life affecting the retention intention. Conclusion: In order to improve professional quality of life and retention intention, strategies to prevent workplace bullying and promote social support and resilience are needed.
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of self-efficacy of married immigrant women on the quality of life and the moderating effect of family support in the effect relation. For this purpose, the study carried out a questionnaire survey to married immigrant women who attended multi-cultural family support centers in order to take language education and job education. Total 279 were selected as valid samples. The specific analysis results of this study are as follows. Firstly, the self-efficacy of married immigrant women has positive (+) effect on the quality of life. Secondly, the informational support in the family support has negative (-) effect on the quality of life, but evaluative and material support have positive (+) effect. In the interaction with self-efficacy, the emotional support has negative (-) effect, but the interaction with evaluative and material support has positive (+) effect. But, the interaction with informational support has no significant effect on the quality of life. The key factor affecting the quality of life on married immigrant women is the Korean family. Therefore, their quality of life can be enhanced as well as stable settlement in Korea if the families of husbands accept married immigrant women as their family members and support them.

The purpose of this study was to find out the actor effect and the partner effect in relation to spousal support, job support, work-family spillover, and work-life balance in dual-earner couples. The subjects of this study were 176 dual-earner couple, whose youngest children are under the age of 16 and who work over 15 hours each week. The research tool was a questionnaires. Factor analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, correlation analysis, and APIM were performed for the data analysis. The main results of this study as follows. First, for both wives and husbands, perceived spousal support had a positive actor effect on work-life balance. However, perceived husband's spouse support for wife's support had positive partner effect on the wife's work-life balance, the wife's perceived spousal support for her husband' did not have a partner actor effect on the husband's work-life balance. Second, for both wives and husbands, job support had a positive actor effect on work-life balance. In addition, the wife's job support had a positive partner effect on the husband's work-life balance, however, the husband's job support did not have a partner actor effect on the wife's work-life balance. Third, for both wives and husbands, work-family conflict had a negative actor effect on work-life balance. In addition, the wife's work-family conflict had a negative partner effect on the husband's work-life balance, however, the husband's work-family conflict did not have a partner actor effect on the wife's work-life balance. Fourth, for both wives and husbands, work-family enrichment had a positive actor effect on work-life balance. When adolescents undergo the period of transition, they need to promote self-confidence from social support by parents, teachers or friends. It was believed that boosting subjective perception on their main areas of interest such as academic performance, appearance and fashion will result in happiness. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of social support including family support, teacher support and friend support on self management, appearance satisfaction and fashion opinion leadership. A total of 412 questionnaires from the middle and high school students living in or near Seoul were collected and analyzed. The results indicated that teacher support and family support had a positive effect on self-management and family support had a positive effect on appearance satisfaction. Furthermore, friend support had a positive effect on fashion opinion leadership. In conclusion, implications for promoting self-confidence related to self-management, appearance satisfaction and fashion opinion leadership with the help of social support are suggested.
Background: Although the concept of workload is important to nursing practice, only a few nursing researchers have focused on the issue of workload within the nursing context. Knowledge of how the dynamics of workload affects the job stress of nurses working in a specific unit or department in a hospital setting, and the influence of coworker support on this relationship, still remains limited. This study, therefore examined the effect of workload on job stress of Ghanaian outpatient department nurses and the moderating effect of coworker support on this relationship. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was used, and questionnaire was used to collect data from a sample of 216 outpatient department nurses from four major hospitals in Ghana. The data collected measured workload, job stress, and coworker support using National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Task Load Index, job stress scale, and coworker support scale, respectively. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and hierarchical regression. Results: High levels of workload were associated with high levels of job stress of the nurses. Also, higher levels of workload were related to higher levels of job stress for nurses who received high levels of coworker support, but this was not the case for those who received low levels of coworker support (reserve buffering effect). Conclusion: The finding reiterates the adverse effect of workloads on employees' health, and the reverse buffering effect implies that supporting a colleague at work should be conveyed in a positive manner devoid of negative appraisal.
This study examines the effects of chronic disease/disability and stress from health on depressive symptoms among one-person households living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province in Korea. This study also investigates the moderating effect of social support on the relationship between 1)having a chronic disease/disability and depressive symptoms as well as 2)stress from health and depressive symptoms. This study used data from an online survey targeting one-person households living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The final sample included 499 one-person households. Using a multiple regression analysis with SPSS 20.0, results showed that having a chronic disease/disability was associated with a higher level of depressive symptoms. In addition, stress from health was associated with a higher level of depressive symptoms. In regard to the roles of social support, economic support and emotional support had a direct negative effect on depressive symptoms. Emotional support had a moderating effect on the relationship between having a chronic disease/disability and depressive symptoms. In addition, emotional support also had a moderating effect on the relationship between stress from health and depressive symptoms. Based on these findings, this study suggests that policy makers should reduce the economic burden from a chronic disease/disability and help one-person households to strengthen their social support network.
This study focused on finding how to raise the positive effect of a service employee on the organization by strengthening his sympathetic feeling at the position of business, not the position of customer and how to reduce the negative effect. The specific objectives of the study are: First, the effect factors of the empathy abilities (cognitive empathy, emotional empathy) of a service employee are largely classified as the social support (supervisor support, co-worker support) to the service employee and the self-soothing ability. Therefore, this study tries to verify the relationship between the self-soothing ability, and social support and empathy which are preceding factors of the empathy of a service employee. Second, it also tries to verify the relationship between job stress and empathy ability(cognitive empathy, emotional empathy) of a service employee. As a result of the verification of the study hypothesis, first, the social support was distinguished as supervisor support and co-worker support, and the empathy ability was distinguished as cognitive empathy and emotional empathy. As a result of verifying the relationship between social support and empathy ability, the supervisor support did not have a positive effect on cognitive empathy while the co-worker support did have a positive effect of cognitive empathy. The supervisor support had a positive effect on emotional empathy and the co-worker support had a positive effect on emotional empathy. Second, the self-soothing ability of a service employee had a positive effect on empathy ability and a positive effect on both cognitive empathy and emotional empathy. Finally, the empathy ability(cognitive empathy, emotional empathy) of a service employee was shown to have a negative effect on the job stress of a service employee.
