  • Recently, according to developing industry and life style, power consumption have been increased year after year. Currently these much power demand from power consumer is weakening the allowable power reserve margin in summer. As one of the remedies about this problem, the small scale utility interactive photovoltaic system(UIPVS) is considered for auxiliary power source. For this system one of problems to be solved technically, system operating power factor. Generally in case of small scale system, system is operated in unity power factor. But this unity power factor operating mode decrease power factor viewed from utility because UIPVS supply active power to utility. Therefore this paper propose UIPVS with power factor correcting function and this system is analyzed.

Seasonal distribution of marine organisms in the surface layer around nuclear power plants using acoustic (원자력발전소 주변 표층해역에 출현하는 해양생물의 계절별 음향산란 분포)

  • In this study, the seasonal distribution was surveyed using acoustic in the coastal waters around nuclear power plants. Acoustic surveys were conducted in June, September, December 2022, and March 2023 in the coastal waters of Uljin-gun. According to the results of this study, zooplankton were distributed at the depths from 0 m to 50 m in the waters around nuclear power plants. Zooplankton appeared in summer (June), autumn (September), and spring (March). In the survey area, fish were distributed at the depths from 25 m to 190 m, appearing in the summer (June), autumn (September), winter (December) and spring (March). The SV of zooplankton appearing in the survey area ranged from -98.0 dB to -78.0 dB, and it exhibited a one-class in the frequency distribution of SV. The SV of fish appearing in the survey area ranged from -36.0 dB to -35.0 dB and -98.0 dB to -53.0 dB, and it exhibited two-class in the frequency distribution of SV.

Development of Accurate Load Model for Detailed Power System Stability Analysis (전력계통 안정도 정밀해석을 위한 적정 부하모델 개발)

  • This paper presents the load modeling process and bus load models for KEPCO power system. At first, load devices commonly used in KEPCO power systems were selected, and tested for measuring the voltage and frequency sensitivity of active and reactive power. From this test, about 40 voltage and frequency dependent load models have been obtained. The bus load composition rate for KEPCO power system has been determined using the various recent surveys and papers in order to develop the load model for a power system bus. To verify the accuracy of developed bus load models, the field test for measuring active and reactive power according to artificial variation of the bus voltage was performed at 8 substations for spring summer, autumn, winter cases. With data of this seasonal field test, more reliable bus load models for KEPCO power systems were developed.

  • This year korea power system had recorded highest peak load for 6 times and finally it made new peak load 51,264MW at July 29th 3:00 PM. The new peak load is increased 8.2% from the last year peak load 47,385MW and korea power system entered 50,000MW load era. The Korea Power Exchange (KPX) snapped power system data at the peak load time using state estimation function in the EMS. And authors converted the power system data at peak load to PSS/E power flow format. Using this PSS/E peak load power flow data, this paper explains demand analysis result shun capacitor operation, voltage distribution at the peak load. And the paper shows the simulation result of 2 contingency analysis using the snapped PSS/E peak load data.

  • We studied the warming effect induced by Photovoltaic(PV) power plants in rural areas during summer daytime using a simple analytical urban meteorological model. This analysis was based on observed meteorological elements and the capacity of the PV power plant was 10 MWp. The major axis length of the PV power plant was assumed to be 1km. Data of the necessary meteorological elements were obtained from a special meteorological observation campaign established for a over a PV power plant. We assumed that the wind flowed along the major axis of the PV power plant(1 km). As a result, the air temperature on the downwind side of the PV power plant was estimated to invrease by about $0.47^{\circ}C$.

  • Maximum power consumption was up to 6,228kW in the summer of 2007 due to steady development of industry as well as increased demand of individual. Twenty fossil-Fired Thermal Power Plant for 500MW were underconstructed at present. KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute) manage 'Development of Advanced Fossil-Fired Thermal Power Generation System' project to construct high efficient power plant of 1000MW capacity for preparing increased demand of power. Design of control logic and data sampling were explained and high efficient control logic was simulated in detail in 'The Development of Next Generation Power Plant Instrument and Control System'(sub-project of 'Development of Advanced Fossil-Fired Thermal Power Generation System' project).

  • The modem large electric power system has made power system analysis much more complex and difficult. For effective analysis of the power system, model reduction and aggregation is required. In this paper, a new relation index to identify the coherency among the generators is presented and also a new aggregation method is presented to aggregate the coherent generators in the large scale power system while matching the power flow. In order to demonstrate the effects of this aggregation method, it is applied to the IEEE 39 bus test power system and to the 2006 summer power system of Korea Electric Power Corporation, and the simulation results are compared with those of the original system.

  • Fully digital controlled 20-bit magnet power supplies have been developed and successfully tested for closed orbit correction of PLS(Pohang Light Source). The new digital power supply has used fiber optics for 25kHz switching of IGBT drivers, and implemented DSP, ADC, Interlock, DCCT cards in a compact 3U-sized 19" chassis. Input/Output low-pass filters suppress harmonics of 60Hz line frequency and switching frequency noise effectively. Overall performance of the power supplies have been demonstrated as +/- 2ppm short-term stability(<1 min), and +/- 10ppm long-term stability(<36 hours). All the existing 12-bit 70 power supplies for vertical correction magnets will be replaced with new digital power supplies during 2005 summer shutdown period. In this paper, we will describe the hardware structure and control method of the digital power supply and the experimental results will be shown.

  • The demand for the high quality of utility electrical power has been increasing rapidly in recent years because of today's electrical energy dependent industries and most people's everyday lives based on computer systems. However, electrical power supply conditions to meet this high quality demand becomes more difficult and more due to a large portion of nuclear power plants output in total electrical power supply which normally do not respond to frequency variations, and high peak of air conditioner demands during the summer season. So the rest of power plants should be operated to show the best governor regulation performance to maintain the electrical power frequency quality.

  • This paper presents practical applications of reactive power and voltage planning to obtain voltage stability and operational voltage level for 2005 year summer peak Korea power system. It also describes the new electric facilities, operation criteria, voltage levels, MVAr flows, reactive power reserves in each control area. And reactive compensation devices are installed to maintain established voltage levels and stability margins. This simulation results show the improvement of voltage levels and the increase of reactive margins & interface flow margins. Finally, the paper reports the necessity of dynamic reactive reserves. It can be applied to analysis reactive compensation requirements and P-V & V-Q curves by PSS/E & VSAT.
