Results : 1. Forties is significantly distributed on sudden palpitation. 2. Depression instance out of many accompanied symptoms is significantly distributed. 3. Mean of operant frequency is significantly resulted on 10 or 11 times. 4. The improvement on the weighted scale is over one grade. 5. Younger is high on the assessment of treatment on Martin's evaluation and weighted scale by age, while older is low. 6. Lesser one year and more three years is some significantly resulted on the assessment of treatment on Martin's evaluation and weighted scale by duration. 7. Pleurodynia, insomnia, distress in the stomach are effective more 90%, and depression, asthma are more 80% on the assessment of treatment on Martin's evaluation by accompanied symptoms, while asthma and pleurodynia are very significantly resulted on the assessment of treatment on weighted scale. 8. The assessment of treatment on Martin's evaluation and weighted scale have no connection with operant frequency. Conclusion : These results suggest that venesection with negative pressure therapy(buhang) operated at CV17 (Danjuong) has a therapeutic effect on on sudden palpitation.

  • Objectives The purpose of this case study was to report improvement of palpitation, epistaxis, nausea, and anorexia after treatment with Dojeokgangki-tang gamibang in a middle-aged woman who has been taking Panax Ginseng continually. Methods Upon beginning her Dojeokgangki-tang gamibang regimen the patient was asked to self-evaluate the degree of discomfort in her symptoms using a using a number scale from 0 (no symptoms) to 10 (most severe). Evaluation of palpitation and chest discomfort was made a high priority. Results The palpitation the patient experienced, and self-evaluated as an "8" on the number scale at the time of her admission to the hospital, had disappeared (become "0") by the fourth day of hospitalization. The numerous symptoms which accompanied her palpitations (chest discomfort, nausea, anorexia, general weakness, weight loss, and depression) also improved accordingly. Conclusions Health functional food can pose serious health risks such as sudden bleeding and palpitations in individuals with pre-existing health problems. One must exercise extreme caution in deciding to take such supplements. As seen in the case of the middle-aged woman, the quality of life of patients who had experienced adverse reactions to such supplements can be treated through the administration of Dojeokgangki-tang gamibang.

  • Myocardial bridging, a congenital coronary anomaly, is present when a segment of a major epicardial coronary artery, runs intramurally through the myocardium. So with each systole, the coronary artery is compressed. It has been associated with angina, arrhythmia, myocardial infarction and sudden cardiac death. This is a case of a 39-year-old woman who was diagnosed myocardial bridge. She complained of recurrent chest pain, palpitation. We diagnosed her as Gyesimtong(JiXiTong, 悸心痛), and prescribed Jeongkicheonhyang-tang(正氣天香湯). After treatment, all of the symptoms had improved and have not recurred for 18 months. This case suggests that oriental medicine therapy can be applicable to improve in symptoms of myocardial bridge.

  • Objective: There were few reports on the treatment of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome with Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. We treated a Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome with Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathic patient with Oriental medical approach, and got a significant result. This treatment shows the possibility of healing Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome with Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. So we are reporting this case. Method : Acupuncture treatment, herb medication, rehabilitation therapy were applied for treating patient's chief symptom.(involuntary movement, dystonia, aphasia, fever, perspiration) Results : Consciousness loss in acute stage of Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy can be considered as Mental Confusion due to Phlegm(Dammisimgyu) in veiw point of Oriental medicine. Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome can be considered as Sudden Palpitation(Gyounggye) in veiw point of Oriental medicine. After oriental medical treatment, patient's chief symptoms were improved. Conclusion: More study about oriental medical treatment on Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome with Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy is needed.

  • A 36-year-old man visited Yeungnam University Hospital with a sudden onset of palpitation, headache, and was found to be hypertensive. Chest radiography showed a 6 cm sized mass lesion on the posterior mediastinum. A biochemical study showed elevated levels of catecholamines. An I-123 metaiodobenzylguanidine scan revealed a hot uptake lesion on the posterior mediastinum. The patient was prepared for surgery with ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ blocking agents. Two months later, we removed the tumor successfully. A histological study proved that the resected tumor was mediastinal pheochromocytoma. Functional mediastinal pheochromocytomas are rare. Therefore, we reported the case with a literature review.

He experienced palpitation and chest discomfort during physical exertion since 2years before admission, but unfortunately has been ignored. Brain CT showed intracerebral hemorrhage in the left temporoparietal area, but cerebral angiogram and magnetic resonance image revealed no vascular anomaly. He was managed conservatively, and headache and visual loss were improved over time. Subsequently, on the evaluation of hypertension, he was diagnosed as having extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma on left paraaortic area from the results of endocrinological evaluations, abdominal CT scan, and $^{131}I$-MIBG scintigraphy.
