  • This paper details methods used to verify the adquacy of a dc traction power supply for design in Seoul matropolitain subway Line-6 system. Examples of the approach are given for a major subway presently under construction. The performance of trains operating at maximum system design capacity is modelled using a train simulation program. Using a dc network analyser program, the maximum train operating timetable, and a model of the ac and dc electrical suppy system, the electrical performance of the entire system can be modelled over a 24-hour period. The results of this analysis are used to determime: train voltage at a level sufficient to ensure train schedules: adequacy of traction transformers, rectifier, and switchgear ratings; sizes of the overhead contact systern conductors, and ac and de feeder cables: and power and energy demands at the utility company's supply points for inital and final timetable operations.

Subway Network Expansion and Spatial Restructuring of Accessibility in Seoul

  • Changes in transport are reflected in the accessibility of a place, which is denoted as the inherent advantageous characteristics of a place with respect to overcoming spatial friction, and affect the land use ultimately. A composite accessibility measurement scheme is developed and applied to the subway network in Seoul, which has been constructed in 1972. Changes in the transport network are reflected in the spatial structure of accessibility and affect ultimately the land use pattern. Therefore, it is of relevance to examine the changes in the spatial structure of accessibility, which allows to forecast the direction of changes in the land use pattern.

  • Since 1974, the first subway is constructed in Seoul metropolitan area, from 1985 country metropolitan subways have been built. But most country metropolitan subways cannot reach the goal of transportation sharing ratio and show a loss. In this paper, I investigate the issues of country metropolitan subways and present the methods to improve them focusing on strengthening transit network. At first, it is introduced that the method can complement incomplete network from insufficient subway lines. And I propose the consolidation method using KORAIL railway lines. Finally, the connecting method into subway missing area is presented with various transit systems like BRT, Guideway Bus and single railway line extension.

  • 도심지역 내의 공공 교통시설 중에 전철은 지역 내의 도로망과 유기적으로 상호 기능을 보완해 가면서 국토발전의 기반과 생활기반의 정비, 생활환경의 개선에 큰 역할을 담당하는 지역기반시설이다. 따라서 전철역은 그 기능을 충실히 담당하기 위해 전철과 연계된 도로망의 교통 특성인 기동성, 편리성, 경제성을 확보하기 위해 적재적소에 배치되어야 한다. 그러나 대도시에서의 대중 교통수단인 전철역 등의 공공 교통시설이 지역발전과 토지이용변화에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 평가하며, 그 결과에 따라 향후 도시계획 등에 활용 가능한 자료를 제시하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 전철역의 입지에 의한 토지이용변화를 정량적으로 평가하고, 향후 전철역 신설을 위한 참고자료로 활용하기 위해 GIS공간분석기능과 다시기 위성영상분류를 통해 전철 역세권의 내부와 외부에 대한 토지이용변화를 정량적으로 평가 및 분석하였다.

  • 서울시 지하철은 1974년 개통되어 네트워크를 지속적으로 확대해왔다. 지하철은 최근 전체 여객 통행의 40% 정도를 담당하며 가장 자주 사용되는 교통수단으로 자리매김하였다. 따라서 지하철 접근성이 시민들의 일상생활에 미치는 영향이 매우 크다고 볼 수 있다. 하지만 지하철을 비롯한 대중교통 자원은 공간적으로 균등하게 분배되지 않아 이로 인한 혜택이 불균등하게 배분되는 경우가 일반적이다. 본 연구에서는 서울시 지하철 접근성의 공간적 분포와 형평성을 살피고자 한다. 지하철 접근성은 역 간 이동시간을 계산하여 산출하였고 형평성은 지니계수를 적용하여 수치화하였다. 그 결과 지하철 접근성은 중심부-주변부 패턴을 보이며 중심업무지구는 높게 서울시 외곽은 낮게 나타났다. 또한 지하철 네트워크는 인구 및 대중교통 의존 계층의 공간 분포보다 고용자 분포를 고려해 보았을 때 보다 공평하게 배분되어 있음을 확인하였다.

모바일 핫스팟 네트워크 기반의 도시철도 무선백홀망 구현 (Implementation of Mobile Hot-spot Network for Subway Wireless Backhaul Network)

  • 도시철도 전동차 승객에게 초고속 Wi-Fi 서비스를 제공하기 위하여, 밀리미터파 대역의 광대역 주파수를 사용한 차세대 이동통신 네트워크인 MHN(Mobile Hotspot Network)을 이용한 새로운 이동무선백홀망 구축기술을 제안하였다. MHN의 상하향 링크 물리계층의 데이터 전송 구조에 대한 분석 및 이동무선 백홀 링크 모델링에 기반한 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 링크 성능을 분석한 결과, 1.2Gbps의 데이터 전송이 가능하며 기존의 WiBro 기반 이동무선백홀에 비해 100배 이상의 초고속 인터넷 서비스를 제공할 수 있게 됨으로써 도시철도 무선데이터망으로 적합하다는 것을 제시하였다.

A Comparative Study on the Passenger's Time Saving Effects of Urban Express Railway Service

  • The goal of the transportation policy of Seoul is to increase the ridership of the subway system by constructing the public transportation network, the subway system. To accomplish this goal, the city of Seoul has been constructing the Metropolitan Subway System. Currently, seven subway lines which connect major areas in Seoul are operating. However, the ridership of subway system was not increased as much as we expected, even though more subway lines have been implemented. It seems that although the length of the subway line was extended, the current way of the subway operation that trains stop at every station cannot satisfy the passenger's need. Thus, we should try to increase the demand by providing quicker services and diversifying the subway operations; changing the point of view is required. This paper introduces the distinctive features of the express subway system and the model for analysing the effects of that system. This paper also presents the results for the feasibility study of the express subway system on the 5th Subway Line and Kyong-Eue Railway Line. Based on the results of the case studies, We can conclude as : First, the express system reduces a total travel time by about $13\%$; in particular, the Kyong-Eue Line is more effective than the subway Line ${\sharp}5$. Second, the shorter headway of express trains increases the time saving effects on subway system although it requests more waiting time to low-speed train passengers. When the service frequency is increased from 5 to 7.5 times/hour, total saved time ratio is about $10\%$ in the Subway Line ${\sharp}5$ and about $18\%$ in the Kyong-Eue Line.

지하철에 의한 서울특별시 광역 지하수 유동 특성 (Regional Groundwater Flow Characteristics due to the Subway System in Seoul, Korea)

  • Hydrogeologic environment of the Mega City such as Seoul, suffers from rapid changes caused by urbanization, construction of underground subway or buildings, and contaminant loading by diverse anthropogenic activities. Understanding the present condition of groundwater environment and water budget is necessary to prevent natural and manmade disasters and to prepare for sustainable water resource management of urban environment. In this study, regional groundwater flow and water budget status of Seoul was analyzed using numerical simulation. Modeling result indicated that groundwater level distribution of Seoul generally followed the topography, but the significant decreases in groundwater level were observed around the subway network. Steady-state water balance analysis showed groundwater recharge by rainfall and leakage from the water supply network was about 550,495 m3/day. Surface water inflow and baseflow rate via Han River and major streams accounted for 799,689 m3/day and 1,103,906 m3/day, respectively. Groundwater usage was 60,945 m3/day, and the total groundwater leakage along the subway lines amounted to 114,746 m3/day. Modeling results revealed that the subway could decrease net groundwater baseflow by 40%. Our study result demonstrated that the subway system can have a significant influence on the groundwater environment of Seoul.

지하차도 건설에 따른 기존 지하철터널 안정성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Stability of Existing Subway Tunnel due to Construction of New Underpass)

  • Recently, subways in the city are formed a vast underground network which is interfered with construction when large-scale infrastructure will be planned to nearby existing subway tunnels. Researches have been restricted to estimate stability of existing subway tunnel due to adjacent excavation causued by small construction such as buildings. In this paper, OO underpass is planned on the top of existing subway tunnel, which will be need large-scale excavation, is selected as a subject of study. And the purpose of this study is to analyze the effects on existing subway tunnel due to excavation by stages on construction of underpass. The 3D-numerical analysis was performed by using the MIDAS/GTS program. The stability on existing subway tunnel caused by sequential excavation is analysed using numerical results. Based on the analysis, the excavation orders and reinforcement methods was suggested for stability of exiting subway tunnel.

지하철 역내 가스 검출 원격 모니터링 시스템 구현 (Development of a remote monitoring system for gas detection at the subway station)

  • The seoul metropolitan subway has installed 8 lines and about 500 stations to transport 5 million passengers everyday. The underground air pollution level in the subway stations is very severe status, which is very harmful to the commutators and its personals. Although subway roles as such a massive and huge transportation system, the subway doesn't adapt yet any real-time air monitoring system. They have only some hand-held type detector equipments for monitoring air pollution. Therefore subway passengers are exposed to the harmful air pollution environment. The most harmful environmental parameters among the air pollution are known as the dust and sound noise dB level in the subway station. Because the dust is consisted of very small particles, we can't see them easily in dark condition on the platform, but it is very harmful. The monitoring system for air pollution is developed using embedded system attached with 6 different environmental sensors. This system monitors air pollution of dust sound noise, gas, temperature, humidity, inflammable gas, toxic gas in the subway ?station. The sensor unit of the ARM-CPU board and sensor transmits real time environmental data to the main server using Zigbee wireless communication module and TCP/IP network. The main control server receives and displays the real-time environmental data, and it send alarms to the personals when high level value.
