  • The scope ID field of IPv6 multicast address indicates the zone of the destination for which a multicast traffic is intended. Without any further examination on the header field, the scope ID enables a router to determine whether the traffic will be forwarded to a subnet or not. For the graceful migration from IPv4 networks to IPv6 networks, various IPv6 applications working through IPv4 networks are indispensable during the migration period. This paper describes development of an interactive remote lecture system providing service integration on voice, image, and data of teaching materials. Access right to the network for dialog among multicast group members is controlled via additional TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) session. A jitter buffer algorithm was implemented to improve the voice communication jitters.

  • In this paper we describe an efficient and easy to use network monitoring system which can identify network configuration automatically by means of capturing and analyzing the ARP broadcasting packets. After identifying network nodes, it gathers detail information of each node such as NETBIOS name and number of hop counts using ICMP and then shows subnet configuration with graphical method. This monitoring system also has a subset of intrusion detection system that can monitor any port scanning trial. With this automatic network configuration functions, it helps to lessen address keeping track overhead which is crucial for network monitoring so that it provides efficient network management.

  • In the remote access VPN architecture which is based on IPsec, if the VPN client wants to be served the VPN service continuously during VPN client's handoff, It needs the techniques to merge VPN with Mobile IP. In this case, if the VPN client roams to new subnet, it acquires new CoA. As a result of changing IP address, existing SA becomes useless and new SA is required. The SA renegotiation process results from handoff of the VPN client and does not result from security aspect. Hence, In the environment which includes many handoffs, overhead by SA re-negotiation deteriorates performance. In this paper, we propose the technique provides that it doesn't need to renegotiate SA and be able to get the security service continuously even though MN's handoff occurs in Mobile IP VPN environment.

  • Recently, growing Internet traffic have come to mandate the speed-up of Internet links. Also, emerging real-time services generally require QoS (Quality of Service) guarantees in networks. ATM is considered to be the most promising subnetwork technology to meet these requirements efficiently. In this paper, we first analyze recent protocol standardization activities in IETF and ATM Forum for integrating Internet with ATM. This includes brief reviews of protocols such as IETF's IP/ATM, NHRP, RSVP and IS/ATM, as well as ATM Forum's LAN Emulation and MPOA. We then identify two types of integration methodologies, and suggest a classification of the integration. Our work might be helpful to outlook better the future direction of standardization in this field.

  • Network Mobility Basic Support (NEMO BS) protocol has been accredited and approved by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) working group for mobility of sub-networks. Trains, aircrafts and buses are three examples of typical applications for this protocol. The NEMO BS protocol was designed to offer Internet access for a group of passengers in a roaming vehicle in an adequate fashion. Furthermore, in NEMO BS protocol, specific gateways referred to Mobile Routers (MRs) are responsible for carrying out the mobility management operations. Unfortunately, the main limitations of this basic solution are pinball suboptimal routing, excessive signaling cost, scalability, packet delivery overhead and handoff latency. In order to tackle shortcomings of triangular routing and Quality of Service (QoS) deterioration, the proposed scheme (Diff-FH NEMO) has previously evolved for end-users in moving network. In this sense, the article focuses on an exhaustive analytic evaluation at Home Agent (HA) entity of the proposed solutions. An investigation has been conducted on the signaling costs to assess the performance of the proposed scheme (Diff-FH NEMO) in comparison with the standard NEMO BS protocol and MIPv6 based Route Optimization (MIRON) scheme. The obtained results demonstrate that, the proposed scheme (Diff-FH NEMO) significantly improves the signaling cost at the HA entity in terms of the subnet residence time, number of mobile nodes, the number of DMRs, the number of LFNs and the number of CNs.

  • Network mobility (NEMO) has been studied extensively due to its potential applications in military and public transportation. NEMO Basic Support Protocol (NBSP) [1], the current NEMO standard based on mobile IPv6, can be readily deployed using the existing mobile IPv6 infrastructure. However, for Nested network mobility, multi-level tunnel and too many Binding Update packets results in substantial performance overhead, generally known as route sub-optimality, especially in the bottleneck root mobile router (root-MR) and Access Router. In this paper, we propose a route optimization mechanism for nested network mobility management to reduce the overhead of root-MR. In this system, Mobile Router (MR) has a cache that stores Mobile Network Nodes' (MNN) information, Correspondent Nodes' (CN) information for every MNN,and the attachments information with its subnet MRs. Home Agent performs Binding Update with CNs responsible for MRs. Through this mechanism, the number of tunnel is limited between CN and MR and the overhead of root-MR is reduced obviously.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast handoff algorithm for micromobility management enhancement in HMIPv6 networks, which eliminates the DAD procedure involved in the regular HMIPv6 in order to o decrease handoff latency and increase the resource utilization efficiency. In the proposed scheme, the MAP is designed to guarantee the uniqueness of MN's interface identifier within a MAP domain as long as the MN moves in a MAP domain, so that the MN configures the new address without the DAD procedure resulting in the decreased handoff latency significantly When the MN resides in a subnet, MIPv6 is used adaptively as a mobility management protocol, which is to reduce bandwidth waste from the IP packet header overhead of IP-in-IP tunneling from the regular HMIPv6. We evaluate the performance of the proposed handoff micromobility algorithm in terms of handoff delay and packet loss thru computer simulation. Thru various computer simulation results, we verified the superior performance of the proposed scheme by comparing with the results of other schemes, MIPv6 and HMIPv6.

  • To support Integrated Services in the Internet, the Internet Engineering Task Force(IETF) has developed new mechanisms. These new mechanisms include Resource Reservation Protocol(RSVP) and Integrated Services model. RSVP and Integrated Services are independent of the underlying link layer technologies and it is necessary to define the mapping of RSVP and Integrated Services specifications onto specific link layer technologies. IETF proposed a Subnet Bandwidth Manager(SBM) providing a method for mapping RSVP onto IEEE802 style networks. However, the SBM has several constraints and problems. For solving these constraints and problems, we design and implement a new Ethernet Bandwidth Manager(EBM). This paper discusses (1) new bandwidth management mechanism independent of RSVP, (2) simulation of Ethernet bandwidth to analyze the characteristics of Ethernet and accomplish Ethernet bandwidth management, (3) design and implemetation of EBM that allows Controlled-Load Service, and (4) results of our experiments on EBM.

  • This paper suggest remote control technic using TCP/IP protocol network after UART serial communication implemented through RS-232 cable to ethernet module. This is multidisplinary signal technique which is PC signal is converted to internet communication signal. Ethernet module is WIZ1000SR. This is gate module which convert RS-232 protocol to TCP/IP protocol. This module convert serial data transmitted serial device to TCP/IP type data, in contrast TCP/IP data received through network converted to serial data transmitted to serial device. This paper propose that the lower subnet internet layer UDP module make the higher speed in control board than TCP/IP signal.

  • WiBro (Wireless Broadband) service, developed in Korea, can provide the host mobility while its users hang around within the subnet. Next-generation Internet protocols, IPv6 and Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6), provide a plenty of addresses to the nodes and enable the handover between different subnets. However, MIPv6 is not enough to support a real time service such as VoIP (Voice over IP) due to the long latency, and it is necessary to develop an enhanced handover mechanism which is optimized to the WiBro networks. In this paper, we suggest an improved fast handover mechanism while the mobile node moves around WiBro networks. The proposal is based on Fast Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6) which is the representative protocol for fast handover, and reduces the handover latency by the close interaction between the link layer (WiBro MAC) and IP layer (FMIPv6). Finally, we analyze the performance of proposed mechanism through the mathematical analysis.
