  • It has recently become difficult for college students majoring in cosmetology to gain employment after graduation. Under this circumstance, this study attempted to investigate students' academic achievements and employment preparation behavior based on their demographic characteristics. To accomplish this, a questionnaire survey was conducted involving 234 college men and women in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do from April 12 to 30, 2022. Out of an initial 260 questionnaires distributed, 250 were collected. Of these, 234 copies, excluding 16 poorly answered ones, were used for final analysis. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, a t-test, and an F-test, employing SPSS 21.0, which revealed the following: First, concerning academic achievements based on demographic characteristics, a statistically significant difference was found in "motives to select the cosmetology department," "most important aspects for career decision," and "academic major-related license." Second, concerning employment preparation behavior, a statistically significant difference was observed in "academic year," "motives to select the cosmetology department," and "academic major-related license." The above findings confirmed a statistically significant difference in academic achievements and employment preparation behavior, ensuring a better understanding of academic achievements and employment preparation behavior. It is anticipated that those majoring in cosmetology would be more active in job preparation and ultimately obtain the profession they desire with a positive and healthy mindset.

The subjects were 423 students of 5th and 6th grade students (210 boys and 213 girls) in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do. Two hundred fifty-two mothers had some kinds of job and 171 mothers were housewives. The students had stress the most from their studies/schoolwork (M = 2.37), while the least from "teacher/school" (M=1.51). The average stress score of the subjects was 1.76. The average score of dietary habits was 3.43. More specifically, the statement "not skipping breakfast" had the highest score (M = 4.04) and the statement "not substituting cereals, breads or drink milk for any meal" had the lowest score. Students with employed mothers had higher stress level than students with unemployed mothers. Students with employed mothers who have blue color job showed the lower dietary habits score than those with employed mothers who had other types of job. Students of employed mothers who go to school at dawn showed the lowest dietary habits score. In both employed and unemployed mothers, the stress score of students negatively correlated with the score of dietary habits. It was important for the mother to be at home when the students go to school and return. Based on this study, mothers should be aware of the stress level of their children get depending on their employment status. The collected data were calculated as MET-minutes scores and were classified as walking, moderate, and vigorous level of physical activity. The students were analyzed by dividing them into those who had a part-time employment (16 PTS and 12 NPTS) and those who did not have a part-time employment (80 PTS and 83 NPTS). Results: In students with a part-time employment, no significances were observed between the PTS and NPTS, in terms of MET, frequency and time of physical activity, and sitting time (p>0.05). In students without a part-time employment, the NPTS was significantly higher than the PTS for the MET and frequency of physical activity in a vigorous level (p<0.05), and there were no significant differences in other levels of physical activity (p>0.05). In the additional question, the PTS showed a slightly higher than the NPTS (p<0.05). Conclusion: The physical therapy students did not remarkable barrier to recognition of physical activity, but there was a difference in their recognition of the vigorous level of physical activity. Therefore, the understanding of physical activity for PTS would play an important role in the recognition of how physical activity can be promoted.

  • This study utilized Q methodology to analyze subjectivity and understand the various factors contributing to the employment difficulties faced by college students majoring in digital content, particularly focusing on practical education. The original data was obtained by administering a Q sample, designed around employment stress and job anxiety, to a purposively selected P sample of 31 individuals, who sorted and classified the statements. The analysis yielded four distinct types: 'lack of practical experience,' 'lack of employment and practical skills,' 'impaired career decision-making and weak will,' and 'lack of mentors and employment information.' Based on these types, the study suggests several implications and solutions, including facilitating student participation in internship programs, offering induction and non-curricular program education, conducting career exploration workshops, and expanding senior mentoring opportunities.
