  • The purpose of this study was to examine the image perceived by fathers of children with Internet addiction. To achieve the study purpose, we conducted depth interviews with ten fathers of children with Internet addiction who had been diagnosed as At-Risk through a face to face meeting. The reason for choosing face to face interviews was to listen to the subjective stories and descriptions from fathers about the kind of fathers they are, which are felt and experienced in real life. More specifically, we selected the depth-interview methods through structured questions and non-structured questions. The interviews were held for two or three hours through an individual meeting of ten fathers and data were collected in order to conduct a categorical analysis. The figures discovered from fathers of children were divided into four categories; the father figure who is indifferent to the Internet use of his child, the father figure depending only on education through the Internet, the father figure who is in a weaker point than the Internet and the father figure who is addicted to the Internet. Based on the study results, we suggested the desirable behaviors, which may be useful for both fathers and children with Internet addiction as well as a follow-up study.

To achieve the goal, researchers chose face to face interview methods with 12 children who had been considered'at risk'with Internet addiction. More specifically, examiners conducted individual in-depth interviews with 12 children associated with Internet addiction for 30~40 minutes during four sessions through structured questions and non-structured questions. After collecting data, examiners conducted a categorical analysis based on collected data. Finally, the research results, discovered in this research, were as follows: First, the Internet set up the inter-generational barrier in the relationship between father and child, second, children took an interest in the Internet instead of their busy father, Third, the Internet played the role of a place to escape from the awkwardness with their father, fifth, fathers were not able to control the Internet use of their children. Based on the research results, this study suggests a desirable behavior pattern for fathers which can be conducive to children with Internet addiction and their fathers along with a follow-up study.

  • Purpose: In recent years, many attempts have been made to examine the effects of forest therapy on health and to develop related policies. This study aimed to explore the current status of health promotion programs using forests provided by public health centers and to identify program diffusion strategies employed within different communities. Methods: For this descriptive study, we analyzed the 5th regional public health care program plans and explored the perceptions of health care workers attached with the programs using open-ended questionnaires and a focus group interview. Results: This study confirmed the necessity for health promotion programs using forests, as well as administrative and educational demands for such programs. The target population of the programs ranged from individuals with specific diseases to healthy local residents. In addition, the programs covered a wide range of topics, including disease management and health promotion strategies. However, the number of well-structured regional specialized programs remained limited. Collaboration among local governments, schools, and public health centers was found to be ineffective. Conclusion: To further disseminate health promotion programs using forests, the central government will need to develop well-structured programs, provide funding and resources to support local governments, and focus on raising public awareness of the health benefits of forest therapy.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the users' expectation and expectation gap about the attributes of smart speaker as an intelligent agent, ie autonomy, sociality, responsiveness, activeness, time continuity, goal orientation. To this end, semi-structured interviews were conducted for smart speaker users and analyzed based on ground theory. Result has shown that people have huge expectation gap about the sociality and human-likeness of smart speakers, due to limitations in technology. The responsiveness of smart speakers was found to have positive expectation gap. For the memory of time-sequential information, there was an ambivalent expectation gap depending on the degree of information sensitivity and presentation method. We also found that there was a low expectation level for autonomous aspects of smart speakers. In addition, proactive aspects were preferred only when appropriate for the context. This study presents implications for designing a way to interact with smart speakers and managing expectations.

Exercises, music, and reading books were strongly suggested as leisure time activities, and the key inner factors for success were curiosity and self-confidence. Beneficiaries of gifted education perceived their experience of gifted education had a positive influence on their achievement. Based on the these results, ways to improve gifted education were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the teaching methods of prediction, inference, and hypothesis. The major data source was gathered by in-depth interview of science teachers (about 50-80 minutes for each interview). The interviews were conducted using semi-structured interview protocol, which consisted of three major parts: (1) Teacher's definition of prediction, inferences, hypothesis, (2) Teaching methods of prediction, inferences, and hypothesis and (3)Reasons of teacher's inaccurate perceptions of prediction, inference, and hypothesis. All the interviews were audio-taped and transcribed. Topics in the questions were categorized. The results were as follows: Teachers recognized the importance of prediction, inferences, and hypothesis. But they didn't have an accurate conception and they have great difficulty in classifying and explaining the prediction, inferences, and hypothesis. To find out the teaching methods, researcher investigated the inquiry activities, teaching times, usage of terms, teachers' questions, and teaching difficulties. Reasons for having difficulty were lack of teaching competency, difficulties from the students, and problems in the present curriculum. Finally, we discovered that the reasons for teacher's inaccurate perceptions of prediction, inference, and hypothesis were two factors. One is internal factors, which include the lack of scientific inquiry process skills, burdens of science subject and lack of science education knowledge. The other is external factors, which include education system for evaluations and lack of teacher education. In conclusion, this study suggested establishing more elementary teacher education programs that include strengthened concepts of inquiry process skills and teaching methods.
