  • The description of transitional flows by means of RANS equations is sometimes based on non-local approaches which require the computation of some boundary layer properties. In this work a non-local Laminar Kinetic Energy model is used to predict transitional and separated flows. Usually the non-local term of this model is evaluated along the grid lines of a structured mesh. An alternative approach, which does not rely on grid lines, is introduced in the present work. This new approach allows the use of fully unstructured meshes. Furthermore, it reduces the grid-dependence of the predicted results. The approach is employed to study the transitional flows in the T106c turbine cascade and around a NACA0021 airfoil by means of a discontinuous Galerkin method. The local nature of the discontinuous Galerkin reconstruction is exploited to implement an adaptive algorithm which automatically refines the mesh in the most significant regions.

  • The current information system audit merely inspects a web based information system by focusing on checking items that are extracted from structured and information engineering model and object-oriented component model. As a result, the checking item of web contents and design is inadequate. This paper aims to extract audit framework in order to strengthen the audit of web contents and design during the development of the web based information system and to suggest checking items based on audit framework. For this, the web development process and web site evaluation model were studied, compared, and analyzed with the current information system development audit. From a result of the survey, it was found that the adequacy of the suggested audit framework and audit checking items is above the average value. It is believed that the suggested audit framework is helpful for the audit of web based information system.

  • This paper presents intelligent digital redesign method of global approach for hybrid state space fuzzy-model-based controllers. For effectiveness and stabilization of continuous-time uncertain nonlinear systems under discrete-time controller, Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy model is used to represent the complex system. And global approach design problems viewed as a convex optimization problem that we minimize the error of the norm bounds between nonlinearly interpolated lineal operators to be matched. Also, by using the bilinear and inverse bilinear approximation method, we analyzed nonlinear system's uncertain parts more precisely. When a sampling period is sufficiently small, the conversion of a continuous-time structured uncertain nonlinear system to an equivalent discrete-time system have proper reason. Sufficiently conditions for the global state-matching of the digitally controlled system are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a T-S fuzzy model for the chaotic Lorentz system is used as an example to guarantee the stability and effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The model-based object recognition is defined as a graph matching process between model images and an input image. In this paper, a graph matching problem is modeled as a n optimization problems and a genetic algorithm is proposed to solve the problems. For this work, fitness function, data structured and genetic operators are developed The simulation results are shown that the proposed genetic algorithm can match feature points between model image and input image for recognition of partially occluded two-dimensional objects. The performance fo the proposed technique is compare with that of a neural network technique.

  • In this paper, we have studied a numerical stability analysis method for the robust fuzzy feedback linearization regulator using Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. To analyze the robust stability, we assume that uncertainty is included in the model structure with known bounds. For these structured uncertainty, the robust stability of the closed system is analyzed by applying Linear Matrix Inequalities theory following a transformation of the closed loop systems into Lur'e systems.

  • Korean secondary school students (n=263) responded to surveys measuring their family contexts and school adjustment during the time period August-September 2004. Structure Equation Modeling tests were conducted to identify the nested model on school adjustment, a latent variable constructed with peer relations, teacher-adolescent relations, and academic attitude. In the nested model, parental involvement was a powerful predictor for school adjustment. Family conflict had a negative impact on school adjustment and was statistically significantly when correlated with the other predictors in the model. These finding suggested that family contexts play an important role in Korean adolescents' school adjustment. Hence, adolescents' perceived GPA level and satisfaction for school were important predictors for school adjustment.

  • Applications using 3D models are increasing recently. Since 3D polygonal models are structured by a triangular mesh, the coding of polygonal models in strips of triangles is an efficient way of representing the data. These strips may be very long, and may take a long time to render or transmit. If the triangle strips are partitioned, it may be possible to perform more efficient data transmission in an error-prone environment and to display the 3D model progressively. In this paper, we devised the Component Based Data Partitioning (CODAP) which is based on Topological Surgery (TS). In order to support the error resilience and the progressively build-up rendering, we partition the connectivity, geometry, and properties of a 3D polygonal model. Each partitioned component is independently encoded and resynchronization between partitioned components is done.

  • There are many issues in computer simulation such as verifying model code, validating models, understanding the dynamics of systems and training the personnel. The developers of simulation tool have been interested in the animation since it can help solve the problems related to the above listed issues. In practice, animation is one of the popular method for displaying the simulation output for solving these problems. Trying to display all the graphic objects representing the dynamics of the models being simulated, however, causes the distraction of focus, which results in solving the above listed problems difficult. The redundant graphic objects also Increase the computer computation overhead. This paper presents a hierarchical animation environment in which the users can have better focus on the dynamics of system components. In hierarchical animation environment the users can observe the dynamics of system by selectively choosing the hierarchical level and components with in a level of the hierarchically structured model. Especially when the model is large and complex the selection of observation level is needed. The design approach of the hierarchical animator is based on the DEVS(Discrete Event system Specification) formalism which is theoretically well grounded means of expressing modular and hierarchical models.

  • As the Internet is used extensively, multimedia information becomes more prevailing and accessible. However, legacy decision support systems rarely mention how to put such multimedia contents into practical use for decision making and support. In particular, no proposals have yet been made on how to integrate the decision technologies and multimedia databases in model management systems. Hence, the aim of this paper is to propose a new model management method to integrating decision technologies and an image database management system to create a multimedia decision support. For this purpose, extended ARG and structured modeling techniques are adopted, to represent image contents and mathematical models respectively. A web-based prototype system is presented to illustrate the feasibility and usability of the methodology.
