능동 자기 베어링을 이용한 비접촉식 선형 구동기 (Contact-free Linear Actuator Using Active Magnetic Bearing)

  • In the field of precision manufacturing demanding high positioning performance, the mechanical friction in positioning device deteriorates the quality of the product and increases the cost of production for positioning devices. Therefore, we propose a contract-free linear actuator using active magnetic bearing. The structure and operating principle of the proposed system are explained, and the magnetic forces are analyzed by magnetic circuit theory to design magnetic bearings and linear actuator. With the derived equation of motion, the stability is identified. Experimental results are presented to show the feasibility.

  • In this paper, we discusses compliant actuators those are made of electrostrictive polymer. Electrostrictive polymer actuators(EPAs) are based on the deformation of dielectric elastomer polymer in the presence of an electric field. We address actual design and fabrication method of an actuator using the electrostrictive polymer. We have developed primitive prototypes of the actuator using elastic restoring force. And they actuators have 1 to 3 DOF, 1 DOF actuators are simple linear actuators and 3 DOF actuator has linear actuation and steering capability. They are simple in structure with lightweight, high trust, force and large stroke. Basic design principles and experimental procedures for confirming their performance will be introduced.

공기압 근육 구동기의 유한요소 해석 및 성능시험 (Performance Test and Finite Element Analysis of Pneumatic Muscle Actuator)

  • The pneumatic muscle actuator consists of an air bellows tube with two end-flanges. The air bellows tube is made from rubber layers and flexible sheathing formed from nylon 6 fibers. This structure can be stretched or compressed to convert the radial expansive forces into contractile forces. We performed the finite element analysis and the performance test of pneumatic muscle actuator. Also, the pneumatic muscle actuator was manufactured and tested by home-made tester. The results of FEA was similar with performance test below the maximum error of 42 %.

  • Recently, an optical disc system has been proposed using blue laser diode, high NA objective lens and groove only disc structure. A new method is needed to readout CD and DVD in the blue system. In order to readout CD and DVD in HD-DVD system, we adopted dual-lenses actuator in consideration of optical utilization efficiency, optical performance and insurance of sufficient W.D (working distance).   • The state of the art for the design of swing ann actuators for optical disc drives is to obtain the high efficient dynamic characteristics, especially for the small size for the mobile information devices, It is affected by the need of consumers who wants the portable digital storage devices maintaining highly functional and removable characteristics of the optical disk drive (ODD). As a necessary consequence, the need of the small form factor (SFF) storage device has been considered as an important part in the information storage technology. In this paper. we suggest a new conceptual miniaturized swing arm type actuator that has high efficient dynamic characteristics as well as satisfies the sensitivity and the heat emission requirements for the SFF-ODD. It also uses a tracking electromagnetic (EM) circuit for a focusing motion. Due to the size constraint, the thermal problem of optical head arises; therefore, we design an efficiently heat emitted structure for the actuator.

  • The concept of a new linear motor that uses piezo-stack actuator is demonstrated. The working principle is far different from the conventional inchworm motor. This motor is based on the self-moving cell concept. The linear motor has three cells and each cell is constructed with one piezo-stack actuator and a shell structure. A cell train is constructed by connecting these cells and the cell train is fitted into a guide way with a proper interference. The cell train moves along the guide way, by activating each cell in succession. The moving motion of the motor is tested. Since this linear motor uses piezo-stack actuator with unified clamping cell, it can produce fast speed, high resolution and large push force.

  • For past decade, medium voltage circuit breakers have used the spring-driven mechanical system for interrupting of electric power. However, these mechanisms have many disadvantages of high power consumption, mechanical control components and electrical switching ones for the coil current. Recently, the vacuum interrupter operated by permanent magnet actuator gives outlook on improved characteristic, higher reliability and cost price reduction as well as the feature of simple structure and few components. This paper deals with the dynamic characteristics of permanent magnet actuator used in the medium voltage distribution systems. Coupled finite element method is used to analysis the dynamic characteristics of permanent magnetic actuator and we compared with those of conventional ones.

  • This paper presents the fabrication of inchworm motor for high precision actuator system of large displacement and high force. The inchworm motor consists of a extend actuator that provides displacement of tool guide and two clamping actuators which provide the holding force. In order to avoid the PZT fracture, design of pre-load housing was conducted by flexure hinge structure, because PZT actuator has low tensile and shear. To design the pre-load housing and optimize the clamping mechanism, the static and dynamic analysis were conducted by finite element method. From these results, a prototype of the inchworm motor was fabricated and dynamic characteristic with respect to the various frequency was tested. The maximum velocity of the inchworm motor was $41.1{\mu}m/s$ at 16Hz.

  • In this research, using Terfenol-D actuator composed of magnetostrictive material as shaker and controller, active vibration control theory was applied and verified by experiments. PPF(positive Position Feedback) algorithm which is effective for the control of low frequency vibration was used for the control of a structure. Responses of inputs due to various design variable used for the PPF filter were observed. To investigate the characteristics of magnetostrictive materials, actuator responses were measured for known inputs and satisfactory results were obtained to reduce the vibration level after applying the control input for the actuator.

버클링 마이크로 적층형 압전밸브의 제작 (Fabrication of a buckling micro MCA valve)

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication and characteristics of a buckling microvalve using a MCA (multilayer ceramic actuator). The mechanical and fluidic analysis are done by finite element method. The designed structure is normally closed microvalve using buckling effect, which is consist of three separate structures; a valve seat die, an actuator die and a small piezoelectric actuator. The flow rate of the fabricated MCA valve was 0-8.13 ml/min at the applied pressure of 0-50 kPa. Maximum non-linearity was 2.24 % FS at a duty cycle of 50 %. The maximum pressure was 230 kPa and the leak rate was $3.03{\times}10^{-8}\;Pa{\cdot}m^{3}/cm^{2}$ at a supply voltage of 100 V.
