Causal relationships between school maladjustment and related variables were examined in 371 5th grade elementary school students. School maladjustment was ascertained by revised the School Adjustment Test(Lim, 1993; Song, 1999). After analysis of differences in internal locus of control, academic stress, and academic achievement between the school maladjusted and adjusted groups, the study built a structural equation model of school maladjustment-related variables goodness of fit was tested with LISREL 8 for Windows. Significant differences were found in internal locus of control, academic stress, and academic achievement by level of school maladjustment. Internal locus of control, academic stress, and academic achievement both directly and/or indirectly influenced school maladjustment. These variables explained 64% of the variances in school maladjustment.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships among adolescents' internet addiction, self-esteem, self-control, and aggression. The participants were 300 students in their first year of middle school. The questionnaire consisted of measures of internet addiction, self-esteem, self-control, and aggression. The major findings were as follows: 1) self-control had a direct effect on aggression; 2) internet addiction had a direct effect on self-esteem and self-control; 3) self-esteem had a direct effect on self-control; 4) internet addiction had an indirect effect on aggression and self-control; and self-esteem had an indirect effect on aggression. This study implied that self-related variables could mediate the relationship between the possibility of internet addiction and adolescents' aggression. This study also suggested that research on various mediator variables could reduce adolescents' psychosocial problems.

Information semantics is a well-known issue in areas of information systems researches. It describes what data mean, how they are created, where they can be applied to ; thus, it provides indispensable information for management of data. This article proposes to formalize information semantics by the processes that data are created or transformed. A scheme is proposed to describe an information production structure, which is called an information structure graph. An information structure graph is a directed graph, whose leaves are primary input data objects and whose root and internal nodes are output objects. Information semantics is derived from an information structure graph that has data as its root. For this, rules are proposed to manipulate and compare graphs. The structural relationships among information structure graphs are mapped into semantic relationships among data.

Analysis of R/C columns requires modeling of the plastic hinge region, as well as nonlinear material characteristics. This becomes a challenging task in view of the nonlinearity of both steel and concrete. Furthermore, formation and progression of plasticity in the hinge is a difficult phenomenan to simulate, especially under reversed cyclic loading and decaying strength conditions. This research provide one analytical model employed in column analysis, including the analysis procedure for establishing inelastic force-deformation relationships. The analytical results show good correlation with experimental data. The employed procedure with the adopted analytical models can be used to compute inelastic displacements of concrete columns with welded reinforcement grids. The inelastic deformability beyond the peak was similar to those indicated by columns with conventional ties. The superior performance of columns with welded grids may be attributed to the improved confinement characteristics of grids associated with increased rigidity of welded ties.

The number of airline passengers in China has rapidly increased, so understanding the relationship between brand equity of airlines in China and ticket purchase intention of Chinese passengers is important for airline business success in China. Using the structural equation modeling, this study explores the relationships among determinants of brand equity as well as the relationships between brand equity, transition cost, and purchase intention. The major findings are: brand equity of airlines directly influences purchase intention; transition cost directly influences brand equity; and transition cost indirectly influences purchase intention in China. In addition, the results show that marketing strategies using the airline brand can be more effective for certain customer groups, including high income customers, married customers, government servants, and businessmen.

Understanding public perception on nuclear research reactor is necessary for the policy maker to adopt such technology in Thailand, especially the locals who live in the proposed location. The study compared perceptions between the locals living near the proposed nuclear research reactor location (within 5 km) and those living in the outer region (5-15 km). Structural equation modeling technique was adopted by assuming casual relationships between latent variables including social status, information perception, trust, benefit perception and risk perception on the local acceptance of research reactor. The results showed that the strongest relationships for both the inner and the outer perimeters were from information perception toward technology acceptance via trust and benefit perception. While both zones showed similar results, the outer perimeter seemed to show slightly stronger effects than those in the inner perimeter.

This study aims to increase effectiveness of human resources management of food service industry by identifying relationships if influence among leadership of manager supervisor, employee' empowerment and organizational effectiveness in food service industry. To achieve the purpose of this study, documentary study and empirical study using a structural equation model analysis was conducted. Based upon the relationships among leadership, empowerment and organizational effectiveness in food service industry, comprehensive methods for human resources management can be presented.

Cross impact relationships exist among technologies. The purpose of this study is to develop a Cross Impact-based Technology Valuation Model necessary for evaluating the value of interdependent technology. For this purpose, cross impact relationships among interdependent technologies within specific technological system are analyzed by using Fuzzy Structural Modeling(FSM) Method. The model developed in this study will be a useful means of strategic decision making for companies which transact technologies.

This article is concerned with the importance of organisation management and its characteristics in business performance in SMEs, and tested by four main aspects: managerial strategies, organisational structure, leader behaviour, and R&D activities. These relationships were tested with questionnaire data from a random sample of 87 firms. Results from simple statistics on each issue showed that SMEs have focused on the corporate growth and management goals, the democratic leadership, decentralisation in organisational structure, and the technology development plans. Results from correlation analyses not only found significant relationships between managerial strategy and R&D activities but also showed differences in R&D activities according to structural status or leadership style, respectively.
