  • As toughness-investigation to improve brittleness of existing epoxy resin, elastic-factor of elastic epoxy using TMA (Thermomechanical Analysis), DMTA (Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis) and FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microsope) for structure-images analysis were investigated. A range of measurement temperature of the TMA, DMTA was changed from -20[$^{\circ}C$] to 200[$^{\circ}C$]. When modifier was ratio of 0[phr], 20[phr], 35[phr], glass transition temperature (Tg) of elastic epoxy was measured through thermal analysis devices. Also, it was investigated thermal expansion coefficient ($\alpha$), modulus and loss factor through DMTA. In addition, it was analyzed structure through FSSEM and made sure elastic-factor of elastic epoxy visually. As thermal analysis results, 20[phr] was superior than 30[phr] thermally and mechanically. Specially, thermal expansion coefficient, modulus, damping properties were excellent. By structure-images analysis through FESEM, we found elastic-factor of elastic epoxy that is not existing epoxy, and proved high impact.

  • In this study, $0.45Pb(Fe_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3-(0.55-x)Pb(Fe_{2/3}W_{1/3})O_3-xPb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3(x=0.20, 0.25, 0.30)$ (x=0.20, 0.25, 0.30) ceramics were fabricated by the mixed oxide method. The sintering temperature and time were 950-990[$^{\circ}C$], 2[hr], respectively. The dielectric and structural properties with the composition and sintering temperature were investigated for the application as multilayer ceramic capacitors. To improve the dielectric loss, specimens doped with $MnO_2$, (0$\sim$2.0 [mol%] ) were fabricated and their dielectric properties were studied. With increasing the amount of $MnO_2$, dielectric constant was decreased and transition temperature was increased. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the 0.45PFN-0.30PFW-0.25PMN+$MnO_2$(1.0[mol.%]specimen(970[$^{\circ}C$]) had a good properties of 11,227, 1.3[%].

  • Nanoparticles of iron oxides have been prepared by the levitational gas condensation (LGC) method, and their structural and magnetic properties were studied by XRD, TEM and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Fe clusters were evaporated from a surface of the levitated liquid Fe droplet and then condensed into nanoparticles of iron oxide with particle size of 14 to 30 nm in a chamber filled with mixtures of Ar and $O_2$ gases. It was found that the phase transition from both $\gamma$-$Fe_2O_3$ and $\alpha$-Fe to $Fe_3O_4$, which was evaluated from the results of Mossbauer spectra, strongly depended on the $O_2$ flow rate. As a result, $\gamma$-$Fe_2O_3$ was synthesized under the $O_2$ flow rate of 0.1$\leq$$Vo_2$(Vmin)$\leq$0.15, whereas $Fe_3O_4$ was synthesized under the $O_2$, flow rate of 0.15$\leq$$Vo_2$(Vmin)$\leq$0.2.

  • A Web-Based Information System(WBIS), a typical structure of recently information systems, should be dynamically restructured in order to satisfy user's need and make a profit. Thus, we should analyze and modelize the navigational structure of WBIS and utilize it by modeling the navigational structure of behavior of user through log-file as system restructuring. In this paper, we propose the modeling method for navigational structure and user behavior to restructure WBIS including shopping mall. Also, we suggest the structural model, state transition model, Petri net model and analysis method and analyze and implement modeling algorithm for user behavior to analyze log-file of it. Then, we propose some restructuring heuristic and apply the methods to the example of WBIS.

  • This paper deals with the development of h-version adaptive mesh refinement and recovery strategy using variable-node elements and its application to various engineering field problems with 2D quadrilateral and 3D hexahedral models. The variable-node elements which have variable mid-side nodes on edges or faces are effectively used in overcoming some problems in connecting the different layer patterns of the transition zone between the refined and coarse mesh. A modified recovery technique of gradients adequate for variable-node elements and proper selection of error norms for each engineering field problems are proposed. In the region in which the error is greater than the permissible refinement error, the mesh is locally refined by subdivision. Reversely, in some parts of the domain having the error smaller than the permissible recovery error, the mesh is locally recovered (coarsened) by combination. Hierarchical structures (e.g. quadtrees and octrees) and element-based storage structures are composed to perform this adaptive process of refinement and recovery. Some numerical examples of a 3D heat conduction analysis of the concrete with hydration heat and a 2D flow analysis of vortex shedding show effectiveness and validity of the proposed scheme.

  • Many experimental and analytical studies have been conducted with beam-column subassemblages composed of a two-span beam to investigate the progressive collapse resistance of RC frames. Most study results reveal a strength-decreased transition phase in the nonlinear static load-deflection curve, which may induce dynamic snap-through response and increase the chord rotation demand for effective catenary action (ECA). In this study, the nonlinear static response is idealized as a piecewise linear curve and analytical pseudo-static response is derived for each linearized region to investigate the rotation demands for the ECA of the two-span RC beams. With analytical parameters determined from several published test results, numerical analysis results indicate that the rotation demand of 0.20 rad recommended in the design guidelines does not always guarantee the ECA. A higher rotation demand may be induced for the two-span beams designed with smaller span-to-depth ratios and it is better to use their peak arch resistance (PAR) as the collapse strength. A tensile reinforcement ratio not greater than 1.0% and a span-to-depth ratio not less than 7.0 are suggested for the two-span RC beams bridging the removed column if the ECA is expected for the collapse resistance. Also, complementary pseudo-static analysis is advised to verify the ECA under realistic dynamic column loss even though the static PAR is recovered in the nonlinear static response. A practical empirical formula is provided to estimate an approximate rotation demand for the ECA.

  • Variable-node finite element families, termed (4 + k + l + m + n)-node elements with an arbitrary number of nodes (k, l, m, and n) on each of their edges, are developed based on the generic point interpolation with special bases having slope discontinuities in two-dimensional domains. They retain the linear interpolation between any two neighboring nodes, and passes the standard patch test when subdomain-wise $2{\times}2$ Gauss integration is employed. Their shape functions are automatically generated on the master domain of elements although a certain number of nodes are inserted on their edges. The elements can provide a flexibility to resolve nonmatching mesh problems like mesh connection and adaptive mesh refinement. In the case of adaptive mesh refinement problem, so-called "1-irregular node rule" working as a constraint in performing mesh adaptation is relaxed by adopting the variable-node elements. Through several examples, we show the performance of the variable-node finite elements in terms of accuracy and efficiency.

  • Energy and energy consumption play an important role in strategies for socio-economic development of the country. In 1995, Vietnam officially entered the 500 kV North-South transmission power line exploits, with a full length of 1,487 km. The purpose of this study is to investigate the breakpoint and the transition effect of energy consumption to economic growth in Vietnam during the period of 1980-1994, and 1995-2016. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach and the Bounds test are used to test for the presence of cointegration, whereas the Toda and Yamamoto procedure Granger causality test is used for the direction of causality. The result of the Bounds test validates the existence of cointegration among the included variables. The empirical results provide evidence that energy consumption has a positive impact on the economic growth of Vietnam in the long run. The causality test shows that there is bi-directional causality between energy consumption and economic growth, supported feedback hypothesis. There is a breakpoint in 1995 and the contribution of energy consumption in economic growth in the period of 1995-2016 is lower than the stage 1980-1994. This study suggests Government authorities explore new sources of energy to achieve sustainable economic development in the long run.

  • Thin films of vanadium oxide(VOx) have been deposited by r.f. magnetron sputtering from V$_2$O$\_$5/ target in gas mixture of argon and oxygen. Crystal structure, surface morphology, chemical composition, molecular structure and optical properites of films in-situ annealed in O$_2$ambient with various heat-treatment conditions are characterized through XRD, SEM, AES, RBS, RTIR and optical absorption measurements. The films annealed below 200$\^{C}$ are amorphous, and those annealed above 300$\^{C}$ are polycrystalline. The growth of grains and the transition of vanadium oxide into the higher oxide have been observed with increasing the annealing temperature and time. The increase of O/V ratio with increasing the annealing temperature and time is attributed to the diffusion of oxygen and the partial filling of oxygen vacancies. It is observed that the oxygen atoms located on the V-O plane of V$_2$O$\_$5/ layer participate more readily in the oxidation process. Also indirect and direct optical band gaps were increased with increasing the annealing temperature and time.

  • Lead-free ceramics with a composition of 0.55 mol%$K_4CuNb_8O_23-(K_{1-x}Na_x)NbO_3$ (KCN-KNNx) where $0.45{\leq}x{\leq}0.60$ were synthesized by conventional ceramic processing. Results revealed that the addition of Na was effective in changing the microstructure and relative density of KCN-KNNx. Further, the addition of Na resulted in a slight shift of the phase transition temperatures (To-t and Tc) toward low values. A high mechanical quality factor (Qm) of 1850 was found atx=0.54, which might be due to the build-up of an internal bias field (Ei) within KCN. Thermal hysteresis in KNNx was confirmed with an increase in the Na content during the heating and cooling cycles, resulting from structural changes. Thus, KCN-KNNx with x=0.54 exhibits excellent piezoelectric properties with d33 (97 pC/N), kp (36%), and Qm (1850), being promising candidates for application in high-power piezoelectric devices.
