  • The purpose of this research was to evaluate chronic stress using physiological parameters. Wistar rats were exposed to the sound stress for 14 days. Biosignals were acquired hourly. To develop a fuzzy inference system which can integrate physiological parameters. the parameters of the system were adjusted by the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system. Of the training dataset, input dataset was the physiological parameters from the biosignals and output dataset was the target values from the cortisol production. Physiological parameters were integrated using the fuzzy inference system. then 24-hour results were analyzed by the Cosinor method. Chronic stress was evaluated from the degree of circadian rhythm disturbance. Suppose that the degree of stress for initial rest period is 1. Then. the degree of stress after 14-day sound stress increased to 1.37, and increased to 1.47 after the 7-day recovery period. That is, the rat was exposed to 37%-increased amount of stress by the 14-day sound and did not recover after the 7-day recovery period.

  • Stress analysis was conducted with finite element method to study the stress distributions in both single-pin and multi-pin loaded composite laminates. The various parameters involved in the design of the joint method were considered. The stress distributions in the vicinity of the holes were predicted considering the effects of various parameters such as the lay-ups, number of pins, number of rows, row spacing, and hole patterns. The results show that the performance of joint is greatly affected by these parameters.

  • This paper deals with the effect of exciter parameters on the torsional stress of turbine-generator. The excitation system effects on the AC network stability and the turbine-generator stress. However. it, until now, have not reported that any parameter among exciter parameters is related to the stability and the stress. In order to verify those CIGRE HVDC model was used. Since the AC network with HVDC has the voltage stability problem due to big capacitor, the worst condition to analyze the stress can considered. The EMTDC program is used for the simulation studies.

  • This study investigated the effects of stress and time history of overconsolidated clayey soils on pore pressure parameter, A. Laboratory tests were carried out under the conditions of both varying stress and time history. The stress history is classified into (i) rotation angle of stress path, (ii) overconsolidation ratio, and (iii) magnitude of length of recent stress path. The time history is divided into (i) loading rate of recent stress path and (ii) rest time. Pore pressure parameters are different both in the magnitude and trend with the rotation angle, depending on the magnitude of overconsolidation ratio but not in a trend. In addition, the pore pressure parameters have no effects on the magnitude of length of recent stress path except the level of initially small strain, while loading rates of recent stress path have effects on it. Finally, the pore pressure parameters of overconsolidated clays increase with the existence of the rest time, until either the deviator stress exceeds 70 kPa or the strain up to 0.1%.

  • The self diffusions and hole volumes of amorphous region of poly(acrylonitrile)-poly(vinyl chloride) fibers were investigated by experiments of stress relaxation. The experiments of stress relaxation were carried out using the tensile tester with the solvent chamber. The flow parameters of filament fibers were obtained by applying the experimental stress relaxation curves to the theoretical equation of stress relaxation. From the flow parameters, the hole volumes, self diffusions, viscosities and thermodynamic parameters of solid polymers were calculated. It was observed that the flow parameters of these samples are directly related to the hole volumes, self diffusions and flow activation energies of flow segments.

  • The rheological parameters of poly(methyl acrylate)-poly(acrylonitrile) copolymers were obtained by applying the experimental stress relaxation curves to the theoretical equation of the Eyring-Halsey non-Newtonian model. The experimentals of stress relaxation were carried out using the tensile tester with the solvent chamber. The determination of rheological parameters was performed from computer calculation. It was observed that the rheological parameters of these copolymer samples are directly related to the self diffusions and viscosities and activation energies of flow segments.

  • Recently a new version of PRO-LOCA program was released. Using the program, failure probability of pipes can be evaluated considering fatigue and/or stress corrosion crack growth and the effects of various parameters on the integrity of pipes in nuclear power plants can be evaluated quantitatively. The analysis results can be used to establish an inspection plan and to examine the effects of important parameters in a maintenance plan. In this study, sensitivity analyses were performed using the program for several important parameters including sampling method, initial crack size, number of initial fabrication flaws, operation temperature, inspection interval, operation temperature and nominal applied bending stress. The effect of parameters on the leak and rupture probability of pipes was evaluated due to fatigue or stress corrosion crack growth.

  • Soil structures which are constructed over the soft ground settle continuously by the self-weight of embankment for a long time. It is because of timetependent behaviours . consolidation and creep occurring simultaneously. This paper tries to determine the required parameters for analysis of the creep behaviour in marine clays and studied the effect of the confining stress and stress level on the creep parameters . As a result, it presents an equation for the determination of creep parameters according to stress level considering that elastic modulus El and creep parameter f are found to be affected by the applied stress level.

  • Constant stress partially accelerated life tests are studied according to exponentiated Weibull distribution. Grounded on multiple censoring, the maximum likelihood estimators are determined in connection with unknown distribution parameters and accelerated factor. The confidence intervals of the unknown parameters and acceleration factor are constructed for large sample size. However, it is not possible to obtain the Bayes estimates in plain form, so we apply a Markov chain Monte Carlo method to deal with this issue, which permits us to create a credible interval of the associated parameters. Finally, based on constant stress partially accelerated life tests scheme with exponentiated Weibull distribution under multiple censoring, the illustrative example and the simulation results are used to investigate the maximum likelihood, and Bayesian estimates of the unknown parameters.

  • The stress-strain relationship of soil is dependent on a number of factors such as soil type, density, stress level and stress path. Th accurate stress-stain relationship can be predict using a constitutive model incorporated all influencing factors. In this study, an isotropic compression-expansion test and a series of drained conventional triaxial tests with several stress paths were performed on Baekma river sand to investigate parameters characteristics of Lade's single work hardening model depending on the stress path.. Based on test results, the parameters of yield function (h, ${\alpha}$) are not much influenced by stress level and stress path, the these parameters do affect a little bit of stress-strain behavior. The parameters h and ${\alpha}$ are closely related to failure criterion ${\eta}_1$, they can be replaced by failure criterion parament. We also observed that predicted values from the Lade's single hardening constitutive model are well matched with the observed data.
