  • Nitinol, a shape memory alloy (SMA), is manufactured from titanium and nickel and it used in various fields such as electrical applications, micro sensors. It is also recommended as a material in medical for implant because it has excellent organic compatibility. Nitinol is intended to be inserted into the human body, products require a high-quality surface and low residual stress. To overcome this problems, explore electrolyte polishing (EP) is being explored that may be appropriate for use with nitinol. EP is a particularly useful machining method because, as a non contact machining method, it produces neither machining heat nor internal stress in the machined materials. Sandpaper polishing is also useful machining method because, as a contact machining method, it can easily good surface roughness in the machined materials. The electrolyte polishing (EP) process has an effect of improving the surface roughness as well as the film polishing process, but has a characteristic that the residual stress is hardly generated because the work hardened layer is not formed on the processed surface. The sandpaper polishing process has the effect of improving the surface roughness but the residual stress remains in the surface. We experimented with three conditions of polishing process. First condition is the conventional polishing. Second condition is the electrochemical polishing(EP). And Last condition is a mixing process with the conventional polishing and the EP. Surface roughness and residual stress of the nitinol before a polishing process were $0.474{\mu}mRa$, -45.38MPa. Surface roughness and residual stress of the nitinol after mixing process of the conventional polishing and the EP were $1.071{\mu}mRa$, -143.157MPa. Surface roughness and residual stress of the nitinol after conventional polishing were $0.385{\mu}mRa$ and -205.15MPa. Surface roughness and residual stress of sandpaper and EP nitinol were $1.071{\mu}mRa$, -143.157MPa. The result shows that the EP process is a residual stress free process that eliminates the residual stress on the surface while eliminating the deformed layer remaining on the surface through composite surface machining rather than single surface machining. The EP process can be used for biomaterials such as nitinol and be applied to polishing of wafers and various fields.

  • Centrifuge tests have shown that a uniformly placed sand layer will first initiate liquefaction near the surface and that liquefaction will progress downward during shaking. This appears to be in conflict with the overburden stress effect on soil liquefaction (i.e., $K_0$ effect) observed in laboratory testing. This discrepancy can be explained by stress-induced densification at depth which overcomes the effect of confining stress on liquefaction resistance. Stress densification occurs in centrifuge model tests but its effect has generally not been considered when preparing or evaluating centrifuge models. A new centrifuge model preparation method is proposed by considering stress-induced densification upon spin-up. The proposed method can be used to explore $K_0$ effects. The method is supported in this study by numerical predictions.

  • The most comprehensive and particularly reliable method for non-destructively measuring the residual stress of the surface layer of metals is the sin2ψ method. When X-rays were used the relationship of εφψ-sin2ψ measured on the surface layer of the processing metal did not show linearity when the sin2ψ method was used. In this case, since the effective penetration depth changes according to the changing direction of the incident X-ray, σφ becomes a sin2ψ function. Since σφ cannot be used as a constant, the relationship in εφψ-sin2ψ cannot be linear. Therefore, in this paper, the orthogonal function method according to Warren's diffraction theory and the basic profile of normal distribution were synthesized, and the X-ray diffraction profile was calculated and reviewed when there was a linear strain (stress) gradient on the surface. When there is a strain gradient, the X-ray diffraction profile becomes asymmetric, and as a result, the peak position, the position of half-maximum, and the centroid position show different values. The difference between the peak position and the centroid position appeared more clearly as the strain (stress) gradient became larger, and the basic profile width was smaller. The weighted average strain enables stress analysis when there is a strain (stress) gradient, based on the strain value corresponding to the centroid position of the diffracted X-rays. At the 1/5 Imax max height of X-ray diffraction, the position where the diffracted X-ray is divided into two by drawing a straight line parallel to the background, corresponds approximately to the centroid position.

  • Researches on the FRF-based substructuring method have been mainly focused on vibratory response analysis. Present study Is concerned about the application of the method to the dynamic stress analysis of a air-conditioner compressor mounting bracket in a passenger car. This is performed by using reaction forces that can be obtained by the FRF-based substructuring method. The air-conditioner system, composed of a compressor and bracket, Is analyzed by using the FRF-based substructuring method. The experimental and numerical FRFs are combined to calculate the system responses and reaction forces at the connection point. The dynamic reaction forces plugged into the bracket FE model to compute the stresses of the bracket Dynamic strains by the present method are compared with those from strain-gage test for bracket system on shaker. The comparison shows possibility of practical usage of the method for the real problem

  • An SGBEM (symmetric Galerkin boundary element method)-FEM alternating method has been proposed by Nikishkov, Park and Atluri. This method can be used to obtain mixed-mode stress intensity factors for planar and nonplanar three-dimensional cracks having an arbitrary shape. For field applications, however, it is necessary to verify the accuracy and consistency of this method. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the effects of several factors on the accuracy of the stress intensity factors obtained using the abovementioned alternating method. The obtained stress intensity factors are compared with the known values provided in handbooks, especially in the case of internal and external circumferential semi-elliptical surface cracks. The results show that the SGBEM-FEM alternating method yields accurate stress intensity factors for three-dimensional cracks, including internal and external circumferential surface cracks and that the method can be used as a robust crack analysis tool for solving field problems.

On the basis of the results from investigation, this study will identify the methods to effectively cope with stress and to take the national examination with more positive thinking for the students and faculty members in Dental Hygiene Department, who have to pass the difficult test, the national examination. The structured questionnaires were given to junior students in Dental Hygiene Department in three colleges, to identify the stress factors, methods to deal with stress and A/B personality types. For the stress factor by field, the M college showed significantly higher stress about curriculum and assignment than the C college. In the stress factor analysis by item, the lack of information on national examination in the test area, all items in learning environment, a quantity of assignment that doesn't help the preparation of national examination in the assignment area, and lack of information on employment in job area demonstrated the significant difference(p<0.05). For the methods of subjects to deal with stress, several subcategories of long-term and short-term adaptation had significance. In case of the methods to deal with stress by personality type, B type in the short-term adaptation method in M college and A type in the long-term adaptation method in C college were significantly higher(p<0.05). As for the correlation between the population sociological features and stress factors by personality type, health status had the high correlation with test in the test area. In other areas, the travel hours to school showed the significant correlation. The higher the records were, the longer the travel hours were and the better the health status was, the higher the long-term adaptation method scores were. Moreover, the personality of A type showed the higher scores in the long-term adaptation method than that of B type. The health status and personality type showed the significant correlation(p<0.05). In conclusion, it is required to prevent any situations b identify the personality type and stress reasons of the students in Dental Hygiene Department who will take the national examination soon. The additional requirement is the continuing interest and counseling of faculty members to help students to cope with stress with positive attitude.

  • Statement of problem : Clinically, maxillary first premolar has a high risk of fracture. This is thought to be caused by the susceptible figure which the maxillary first premolar has In other words, sharp cusp angles of the premolar is thought to influence this situation. Purpose : This study was to know stress distribution of all-ceramic crown according to the cusp angle. Material and Method : It was manufactured a three dimensional finite element model simplified maxillary first premolar, and then analyzed stress distribution when cusp angle was each $80^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $100^{\circ}$, $110^{\circ}$ and $120^{\circ}$. Results and conclusion : 1. The von Misses stress showed that stress decreases as cusp angle increases in the central groove of the occlusal surface. 2. It showed that maximum principal stress was centered at the region of the central groove of the occlusal surface and a region which the force was inflicted. And also it appeared high on the lingual and buccal side of finish line. 3. The X axis of normal stress was focused in the central groove of the occlusal surface. The Y axis normal stress appeared high in the central groove of the occlusal surface, buccal and lingual side. 4. The Stress near the finish line showed a low value compared with stress in the region of the central groove of the occlusal surface. 5. It shows that the most dangerous angle for tooth fracture was on $80^{\circ}$ of the cusp angle and low on $120^{\circ}$ of its.
