  • The effect of superplasticizing agents on the mechanical properties in hardened concrete have been analyzed and investigated under various mix proportions of water cement ratio of 0.40, 0.50, 0.60 and 0.70, Superplasticizing agents of NL-4000, and Rheobuild-716, and addition rate of sp. agents of 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 in the practical range. It is the aim of this study to provide the fundamental data on the compressive strength, dynamic and static modulus of elasticity, stress and strain curve of hardened concrete comparing with base concrete and conventional concrete for the practical use and research data accumulation of superplasticized concrete in the side of development of concrete construction technology and management.

Scapulothoracic Mobilization for the Management of Lateral Epicondylalgia: a Case Report

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the scapulothoracic mobilization on subject with lateral epicondylalgia. This was done through lateral slide scapular test, grip strength, visual analogue scale, glenohumeral joint external rotation range of motion. Methods: Before the experiment, Lateral slide scapular test, grip strength, visual analogue scale, glenohumeral joint external rotation range of motion were measured. Scapulothoracic joint mobilization was applied and then measurements were taken again to compared the changes. Results: After applying the scapulothoracic joint mobilization, lateral slide scapular test, grip strength, visual analogue scale, glenohumeral joint external rotation range of motion significantly improved. Conclusion: This study found that the scapulothoracic mobilization was effective in improving functional aspects and pain on subject with lateral epicondylalgia. The results suggest that the scapulothoracic joint mobilization is a significant considered intervention method that could be used for subject with lateral epicondylalgia.

Evidence-Based Physical Therapy for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury: Literature Review

  • Most athletes with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures undergo a surgical ACL reconstruction (ACLR) and rehabilitation. On the other hand, controversy still exists because neither a reconstruction nor rehabilitation have been proven to be superior in the management of ACL injury. This study reviewed the success rates of interventions to provide recommendations for the optimal management after an ACL injury. One of the most important considerations after an ACL injury is the timing and type of intervention. At the early stages, which involve the loss of volume and strength of quadriceps femoral muscle, weight bearing (closed kinetic chain) exercises with pain management followed by high velocity resistance exercises in an open kinetic chain environment are recommended to improve the quadriceps function. After that, it is important to apply intensive isokinetic exercise with a lower extension rate. In this case, it is important to apply overload to the muscles and to simultaneously lead the co-contraction of the hamstrings. Standards are essential because the timing and type of interventions are crucial to prevent re-injury and complications, such as osteoarthritis, as well as to confirm the successful outcome of the treatment. Different interventions recommended for ACL damage have yet to reach consensus. Further studies will be needed to observe the effects of the intervention through multidisciplinary approaches.

고혈압 환자의 악력수준이 인지기능 저하에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Handgrip Strength to Cognitive Impairment in Patients with Hypertension)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of handgrip strength level on cognitive impairment in hypertensive patients. Methods: This study used the first to eighth year data of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA). Of the 10,254 respondents who participated in the basic survey, respondents were included that they were diagnosed with high blood pressure and had no cognitive impairment. The handgrip strength was based on the highest value of handgrip strength for both hands. Cognitive function using MMSE results and 23 points or less were defined as cognitive impairment. Cox models were conducted to estimate the hazard ratios (HRs) of cognitive impairment in relation to handgrip strength adjusting for covariates. Results: In the case of hypertension patients, the probability of cognitive decline decreased by 3.0% every time the maximum handgrip strength increased by 1 unit. In the analysis by age, under the age of 64 had a 1.8% decrease in the probability of cognitive decline whenever the maximum handgrip strength increased by 1 unit, and a 3.6% decrease in those over the age of 65. In the gender analysis, male had a 3.2% decrease in the probability of cognitive decline for every 1 unit increase in the maximum handgrip strength, and female had a 2.6% decrease. Conclusions: The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for the development of interventions to prevent cognitive decline in hypertensive patients by identifying the effect of handgrip strength level on cognitive decline. It is also expected to be used as basic data for health education on the necessity of increasing muscle strength for hypertension patients in the community.

척추관 협착으로 인한 신경원성 파행 및 하지 근력 저하에 대한 한방복합치료 치험 1례 (A Case of Combination of Korean Medicine Treatments in Neurogenic Claudication and Lower Extremity Weakness due to Spinal Stenosis)

  • Background: To suggest potential of Korean medicine treatments as a conservative management for neurogenic claudication and lower extremity weakness due to spinal stenosis. Case Summary: The patient suffered weakness, pain and numbness of the right leg and difficulty walking with diagnosis of spinal stenosis due to herniated lumbar intervertebral disc. Korean medicine treatments, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture and Chuna manual therapy were applied. The Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) of pain and numbness in the right leg decreased from 7 to 4, with an increase in strength of the right leg from 60% to 95% compared to the strength of left leg. Walking duration also increased from less than one minute to more than five minutes. Conclusion: Korean medicine treatment may be considered as an effective conservative management for symptoms of spinal stenosis.

견갑골 익상을 동반한 어깨 통증 환자에 대한 자가 운동 중심의 관리: 사례 보고 (Self-Exercise Oriented Management for Shoulder Pain Patient with Winging Scapular : Case Report)

  • Background: Scapular winging is a rare disorder that is commonly caused by nerve damage of the dorsal scapular nerve, spinal accessory nerve, or the long thoracic nerve. This affects the scapulohumeral rhythm which may cause abnormal kinetic motion of the shoulder. The purpose of this case report is to describe a self-exercise oriented management incorporating shoulder strengthening to reduce symptoms in a shoulder pain patient with winging scapular. Methods: A 45 year old male patient complained of pain in his both shoulders without any trauma. Shoulders were treated with steroid injections for supraspinatus tendonitis, but although pain improved to some extent, pain and disability continued for 3 months. Both shoulders had pain, decreased active range of motions, muscles weakness, and scapular winging. The patient underwent 9 interventional sessions over 3 months and was managed mainly by self-exercise. The intervention method involved push up plus, sling, muscle strengthening, and stabilization exercises. Loads were increased as symptoms improved. Results: Clinical outcomes were measured at every session. Pain in both shoulders reduced to 0 on a numerical pain rate scale by the 4th session, and the active range of motion was fully recovered. During the 9th session, the strength of the serratus anterior had improved from grade P to G on the right side and grade G to N grade on the left. Conclusion: In this case study, the self-exercise program was effective in reducing pain, increasing active range of motion, and improving muscle strength in subjects with scapular winging.

한부모가족 건강성 지표 개발 연구 (Scale Development of Family Strength for Single-Parent Families)

  • 이 연구는 다양한 가정의 건강성 증진 이라는 건강가정정책 및 제 4차 건강가정기본계획의 강조점에 주목하여 한부모가족의 건강성 지표를 개발하여 제시하고자 한다. 이 지표를 통해 현장의 한부모가족 사업 효율화 및 활성화에 기여하고자 한다. 본 연구가 개발한 한부모가족 건강성 지표는 특히 현장을 방문한 가족이 건강성 지표를 측정하여 강점과 취약점을 발견할 수 있고 이에 근거하여 컨설팅과 사례관리, 교육/상담/자조모임 등 프로그램과의 연계 등으로 이어질 수 있다는 점에서, 다양한 가족에 대한 맞춤형의 사업을 수행할 수 있는 기반이 될 것이다. 한부모가족 건강성 지표를 개발하기 위한 연구방법과 절차로는 먼저, 선행연구를 통해 가정의 건강성, 한부모가족의 실태와 요구를 파악하여 한부모가족 건강성 지표의 영역을 검토하였다. 예비조사를 통해 건강성 지표 초안을 마련하였고, 본조사의 결과를 통계분석하여 지표의 타당성과 신뢰도를 검증하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 최종적으로 5개 영역(기본적 토대, 부모역할, 일-생활 균형, 사회적 네트워크, 라이프스타일, 가정경영과 생애설계)5개 영역, 총 48개 항목으로 구성된 한부모가족 건강성 지표를 확정하였다. 이 연구가 개발하여 제시한 한부모가족 건강성 지표는 생활과학이나 가정관리학, 가정복지학 등의 고유한 관점을 반영하였다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 가정의 건강성은 생활과학, 가정관리학, 가정복지학 등에서 지속적으로 연구해 온 주제이다. 따라서 건강가정지원센터, 가족센터와 같은 현장에서 사업을 할 때 건강성 지표를 활용함으로써 다른 기관 사업과의 차별화를 모색할 수 있다. 나아가 맞벌이가정, 다문화가족, 조손가족, 분거가족 등 다양한 형태의 가정에게 적용할 수 있는 건강성 지표 개발의 선행 자료로서의 유용성도 함께 강조할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 연구는 경쟁이 심한 화장품 시장에 새롭게 뛰어들어 빅데이터 분석을 활용하여 브랜드 컨셉을 개발한 기업의 사례를 소개하고 있다. 안티에이징 관련 좋은 원재료 기술을 보유한 스킨리버스랩은 기능성화장품 시장에 새롭게 브랜드를 출시하였다. SNS 데이터를 화장품에 대한 소비자 태도, 기능성화장품에 대한 소비자 태도, 기능성화장품의 대표 경쟁사 분석, 소비자의 제품 사용 경험 등의 4가지 측면에서 분석하여 로지컬리스킨이라는 매력적인 브랜드 컨셉을 개발하였다. AI 기반 빅데이터 분석 툴인 루미노소를 이용하여 맥락 기반의 감성분석, 연관어 분석, 워드클라우드 분석 등을 통해 소비자에 대한 인사이트를 도출하였다. 로지컬리스킨은 유명잡지나 앱에서 다수의 상을 수상하며 글로벌 트랜드 기준에 부합한 제품으로 인정을 받았고, 미국, 홍콩을 포함한 6개 국가에 진출하였다. 로지컬리스킨 사례는 외부 데이터 만으로 소비자 인사이트를 도출하여 신생 기업이 신규 브랜드로 시장에 진출한 사례이며, AI 기반 감성 분석을 적용한 사례로서 의의가 있다.

암반사면 안정 해석을 위한 강도정수 산정 사례연구 (Case Studies on Determination of Strength Parameters for the Analysis of Rock Slope Stability)

  • 강도정수의 산정은 암반사면의 안정성 해석에 매우 중요하다. 강도정수를 결정하는 다양한 방법들이 여러 연구자들에 의하여 제안되었다. 암반사면의 안정성 해석을 위하여 강도정수 결정에 사용된 방법들의 빈도를 문헌조사를 통하여 조사하였다. 특히 파괴유형에 따른 강도정수 결정방법의 빈도수를 조사하였다. 사례연구를 통하여 암석과 불연속면의 점착력과 마찰각의 값을 조사하여 RMR값과 함께 제시하였다. 연구 결과에 의하면 점착력은 내부마찰각과 비교하여 상당히 큰 범위를 보였다. RMR은 점착력과는 상관관계를 보이지 않았으나 마찰각과는 뚜렷한 상관관계를 보였다. 파괴유형에 따라 강도정수 결정을 위하여 적절한 방법이 사용되어야 하며 문헌조사를 통하여 결과를 검증해야 한다. 향후 각 지역별로 역해석을 통하여 파괴가 발생한 사면에 대한 강도정수 자료가 축적된다면 강도정수 결정의 신뢰성이 향상될 것으로 기대한다.

Using GAs to Support Feature Weighting and Instance Selection in CBR for CRM

  • Case-based reasoning (CBR) has been widely used in various areas due to its convenience and strength in complex problem solving. Generally, in order to obtain successful results from CBR, effective retrieval of useful prior cases for the given problem is essential. However, designing a good matching and retrieval mechanism for CBR systems is still a controversial research issue. Most prior studies have tried to optimize the weights of the features or selection process of appropriate instances. But, these approaches have been performed independently until now. Simultaneous optimization of these components may lead to better performance than in naive models. In particular, there have been few attempts to simultaneously optimize the weight of the features and selection of the instances for CBR. Here we suggest a simultaneous optimization model of these components using a genetic algorithm (GA). We apply it to a customer classification model which utilizes demographic characteristics of customers as inputs to predict their buying behavior for a specific product. Experimental results show that simultaneously optimized CBR may improve the classification accuracy and outperform various optimized models of CBR as well as other classification models including logistic regression, multiple discriminant analysis, artificial neural networks and support vector machines.
