스파이럴과 스트레이트 베벨기어 가공 시 비용 및 생산성 비교연구 (Comparative Study of the Manufacturing Cost and Productivity of Spiral and Straight Bevel Gear)

  • The tractor front axle has the lower standard for noise and vibration relatively and it increase the possibility to develop of the alternative straight bevel gear of the expensive spiral bevel gear. The purpose of this paper is to compare of the spiral vs. the straight bevel gear manufacturing process. The manufacturing cost and productivity are compared after the spiral bevel gear of the tractor front axle is replaced of to the straight bevel gear. If spiral bevel gear is replaced to straight bevel gear, the cost is reduce 4.6% and productivity is increase 18%.

  • Straight belvel gear is used mainly for steering system, final reduction and differential gear in the automobile. The more high load, high velocity driving bevel gear, the more unsafe and unpleasant. In thid study, we get a kinematic equation by modelling straight bevel gear pair with simple elastic system, the dynamic characteristic analysis about this system, we got the dynamic load factor of tooth surface. Comparing the value of dynamic load factor by calculation with the measured value of Terauchi's experimental results is similar. We think it useful to analysis the vibration and the noise of straight bevel gear in operation with the analytic method of dynamic load of straight bevel gear using in this study.

  • Recently, 3D printer technologies have been used in many research efforts for high precision manufacturing. In particular, the rapid prototyping technology has been developing rapidly, because it can be manufactured in a short time with a 3D designed shape. This paper relates to the production characteristics of the straight bevel gear designed using a 3D print using the PolyJet method. The characteristics of a 3D printed straight bevel gear were compared with a machined straight bevel gear. The accuracy of the produced straight bevel gear was evaluated by backlash, meshing pattern, face angle, root angle, and surface roughness.

  • 자동차용 직선 베벨기어는 대량으로 생산되고 있기 때문에 생산성 향상을 위해 기어가공용 전용기에서 직접 가공하던 것을 냉간 단조 제조방식으로 변경되어 생산되고 있다. 시행착오를 최소화하여 단조에 의한 정확한 최종 형상의 정밀 제품을 조기에 개발하고, 반복 재현성을 확보하는 방법으로 CAD/CAM 시스템의 도입이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 CAD/CAM 시스템을 활용하여 크라운 치형을 갖는 직선 베벨기어를 모델링 한다. 이를 토대로 NC 데이터 생성과 검증을 통해 가공품을 사전에 예측을 한 후 물림시험의 결과를 통해 마스터 기어를 제작한다. 이러한 마스터기어를 통하여 금형제작이나 가공에 필요한 지그제작을 가능하게 한다.

  • For exact spherical involute bevel gear, serveral researchers had developed the mathematical models. The solid models of straight bevel gears are obtained and inspected to avoid interference by computer graphics. Furthermore, A gearbox is assembled by spherical involute bevel gears, which are manufactured by CNC machine. The transmission errors in the tooth mesh are measured by Laser sensor, are compared with the AGMA standard. This gearbox is found to be ranked AGMA Q10(JIS 3)

박육직교축 치차의 설계에 관한 기초적 연구 (Study on the Design of Thin Intersected Axe Gear)

  • The various configuration of thin-shaped bevel gears are used usually for such as main reduction gear of the hovercraft. But the reasonable and concise guide to thedesign of the se bevel gears is not yet obtained, since the tooth of bevel gear has complex form. The purpose of these investigation is to be establish the design guide and to propose the desirable configuration form for thin-shaped straight bevel gear. In this report, the desirable configuration is examined experimentally by clearing up the effect of web and rim thickness, rim support condition upon the load distribution and root stress distribution along the tooth trace. The results are summarized as follows. (1) The crowning of tooth trace exerts a significant effect on the root stress distribution of thin-shaped bevel gear. (2) As the desirable configuration of the thin-shaped bevel gear, it is to be recommended that the rim is supported at the heel side of tooth trace. (3) But, as special type, it is desirable that the rim is supported at the toe side.

동력전달용 베벨기어의 강도평가 및 설계시스템 개발 (1) -AGMA규격 강도기준설계법- (Development of Strength Estimation and Design System of Power Transmission Bevel Gears(I) -A Disign Method Based on Strength and Durability in AGMA Standards-)

  • A design system for power transmission bevel gears(straight, zerol, and spiral) is developed, in which the strength and durability of bevel gears can be estimated and the size of bevel gears can be minimized by introducing optimal techniques. The size of bevel gear pair as the object function to be minimized is the volume of equivalent spur gear pair at mean normal section, and the design variables to be determined are considered as the number of teeth, face width, diametral pitch, and spiral angle in spiral bevel gear. The strength(bending strength, pitting resistance) according to the AGMA standards, geometrical quantities, and operating characteristics(interference of pinion, contact ratio, etc.) are considered as the constraints in design optimization. The optimization with these constraints becomes nonlinear problem and that is solved with ALM(Augmented Lagrange Multiplier) method. The developed design method is applied to the example designs of straight, zerol, and spiral bevel gears. The design results are acceptable from the viewpoint of strength and durability within the design ranges of all other constraint, and the bevel gears are designed toward minimizing the size of gear pair. This design method is easily applicable to the design of bevel gears used as power transmitting devices in machineries, and is expected to be used for weight minimization of bevel gear unit.

단조/절삭 베벨기어의 열처리 변형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Distortion induced by Heat Treatment on Automobile Bevel Gears)

  • Heat treatment is widely used in various manufacturing Processes to enhance the quality of a Product such as strength, surface hardness, and service life. In the heat treatment, there is dimensional change or distortion of the product, which critically influences the dimensional accuracy of precision parts. In this study, the distortion of a straight bevel gear induced by heat treatment is investigated in two cases. In the first case, the distortion induced by heat treatment we compared between a forged bevel gear and a machined bevel gear. In the second case, the distortion of an annealed gen is compared with that of a quenched gear. And finite element analysis has been Performed to predict the distortion of a heat-treated and machined bevel gear. The predicted values are compared with the experimental values.

  • A lot of straight bevel gears have been manufactured by the cold forging process in order to improve the productivity and mechanical property of the product. The die for the cold forging of the gear needs high precision and reproducibility. In the study, cold forging die has been modeled by CAD/CAM and manufactured by machining center using ball end mill coated by (Al, Ti)N for heat-treated alloy steel(STD11, HRC 60). Through the measurement of the machined die, satisfactory dimensional accuracy and surface roughness were obtained. In the future, many 3-d cold forging dies will be directly machined instead of electric discharge machining.

  • Rating systems of bevel gears(straight, spiral, and zerol bevel gears) which are commonly used as power transmission devices for non-papallel axes are developed on the personal computer, which analyze and/or evaluate the gear design and the service performance at the point of view of strength and durability. The typical considerations of the ratings are the bending strength, the surface durability, and the scoring resistance. The ratings are carried out using the reliable standards of AGMA & Gleason Works. Therefore, the system is built so that the variables or factors considered differently in those standards and the strength, dura- bility, and scoring partially in Gleason are appraised seperately by each method, and a series of the estimation processes is integrated into the system so as to compare each result. The developed rating systems can be used in the initial stage of gear design process, and also a better design can be performed by the evaluation of the initial design at the view point of gear strength and durability. Additionally, it is useful for the trouble-shooting of bevel gear system and to the purpose of introducing the methods for maintaining design strength in service, with appraising the gear strength after design or with appraising the influencing factor as a whole. Therefore, this rating systems can help the aim of design automation of bevel gears.
