The feature of resolution enhancement by derivative operation is linked to one of the multivariate analysis, which is multiple linear regression with two options, all possible and stepwise regression. Examined samples were synthetic mixtures of 5 vitamins, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin phosphate, nicotinamide, pyridoxine hydrochloride and ascorbic acid. All components in mixture were quantified with reasonably good accuracy and precision. Whole data processing procedure was accomplished on-line by the development of three computer programs written in APPLESOFT BASIC language.
Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to interpretate the relationship between sesame grain yield and its components under early sowing cropping condition. The t test showed that stem length, number of capsules per plant, 1000 seeds weight and seed weight per plant gave significant contribution to sesame grain yield, therefore those variables were assumed to mostly influenced components to grain yield of sesame. In the stepwise regression analysis, the predicted equation for sesame grain yield per square meter (Y) was Y = -7.900 + 0.150X1 + 0.461X5 + 15.553X6 + 8.543X7. Meanwhile, F value showed that stem length, number of capsules per plant and seed weight per plant gave significant contribution to sesame grain yield, while 1000 seeds weight did not significantly show. Based on the results, it is reasonable to assume that high yield. potential of sesame under early sowing cropping condition would be obtained by selecting breeding lines with long stem length, number of capsules per plant, and seed weight per plant, which was different result at the late sowing cropping condition in which days to flowering and maturity were assumed to be more affected factors to the sesame grain yield.
Purpose: This study was to examine the relationship between recovery experience and the burnout among hospital nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was used. The participants were 281 nurses working at three general hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The data were collected by convenience sampling using self-reported questionnaires that consisted of general characteristics, burnout, recovery experiences, self-efficacy, social support, job demand and organizational system. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Stepwise multiple regression showed that organizational system had the greatest impact on hospital nurses' burnout, followed by job demand, self efficacy, position and recovery experience. Conclusion: Recovery experience is found to be a new factor that influences the burnout among hospital nurses. Therefore, further research is needed for confirming that recovery experience influences the burnout of hospital nurses. Also there is a need to develop a program to increase recovery experience from job stress at the organizational level to reduce hospital nurses' burnout.
Purpose: This study was undertaken in order to determine factors affecting health promoting lifestyle of elderly women. Method: The subjects were 299 elderly community residing women over the age 65 living in 2 large cities. The instruments used for this study were a survey of general characteristics, health promoting lifestyle(47items), perceived health status(6 items), self-efficacy(l7 items), and social support(18 items). The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Stepwise Multiple Regression. Result: The result of the study are as follows: The average item score for the health promoting lifestyle was 2.46, the highest score on the subscale was interpersonal support(M=2.83). A significant difference between age, education level, income, experience of smoking, alcohol, exercise, and health promoting lifestyle were found. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of health promoting lifestyle was social support(55%). Conclusion: Social support accounted for 54% of the variance in health promoting lifestyle in the elderly women. Therefore, health promoting programs that increase social support should be developed to promote a healthy lifestyle of the elderly women.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the impacts of managerial behaviors on the satisfaction with management. The data were collected by means of questionnaire distributed to a stratified sample of 560 housewives in Seoul. The questionnaire consisted of 107 items was developed by the researchers. Frequency, percentile, mean, and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. The results of stepwise multiple regression analyses indicate that the wives who had more reality in planning and higher standards tended to more satisfy with managerial behaviors. The elements of inplementing such as facilitating conditions and checking behaviors were positively related with managerial satisfaction. The recommendations for the ways to increase satisfaction with management and future research were suggested.
The object of this paper is to predict the surface roughness using the experiment equation of surface roughness, which is developed with a full factorial design in turning. $3^3$ full factorial design has been used to study main and interaction effects of main cutting parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut, on surface roughness. For prediction of surface roughness, the arithmetic average (Ra) is used, and stepwise regression has been used to check the significance of all effects of cutting parameters. Using the result of these, the experimental equation of surface roughness, which consists of significant effects of cutting parameters, has been developed. The coefficient of determination of this equation is 0.9908. And the prediction ability of this equation was verified by additional experiments. The result of that, the coefficient of determination is 0.9718.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the operational affecting productivity in hospital foodservice, and to examine the relationships between operational factors affecting productivity. The 28 hospitals over 400 beds in Seoul were mailed questionnaires assessing the factors that affect productivity in hospital foodservice(23 hospitals responded). Data analyses included descriptive statistics. Pearson product moment correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The result of Pearson product moment correlation analysis indicated that the percentage of patient meals was significantly correlated to the productivity (r=.5560, p<.01). Stepwise multiple regression analysis indicated that the percentage of patient meals and the average work hours of employees were significant predictors of the operational factors at productivity.
The changing trend of longevity from 1955 through 1985 and its interprovincal variation were studied with longevity rate as indicator. In order to detect the affecting factors of longevity rate, eleven urbanalizational, geographic-environmental, demographic and social-economic variables were employed to carry out multiple stepwise regression analysis. The data used for this study were from Population Census Reports 1955-1985 published by EPB and Year book of Public Health and Social Statistics 1986 published by Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and other reference. Subsequent to that longevity rate decreased during 1950's it has increased continuously by the yeat of 1980's. This trend was especially remarkable in the south area and the GIRI mountain area in Korea. The stepwise regression analysis shows that the longevity rates were significantly associated with the independent variables, and the dependent variables explained at the level of 93.7percent-99.9 percent. Longevity is a reflection of the demographic and socio-economic, environmental and health resourses factor etc., longevity problems cannot be dealt with in isolation. The possible research and services which could be provided by government will be discuss.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between eating disorders, physical symptoms, depression and health locus of control. Method: The research design was a descriptive study done by using a constructive self-report questionnaire. A total of 464 elementary school girls were measured. The instrument was a constructive questionnaire that consisted 136 items. The subjects were divided into 4 groups according to the Body Mass Index (BMI). Data analysis was done by SPSS/WIN Programs using frequency, percentage, mean, SD, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The score of eating disorders differed significantly by BMI : the score was highest in the group of obese students(F=4.208, P=.015). Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of eating disorders was BMI. Conclusion: These results indicate that Korean elementary school girls need more education and counseling on diet. Also, we should take systematic efforts to reestablish the social standard of beauty to promote normal growth development.
The Purpose of this study was to identify factors that influence the self-esteem of the schooler of families in poverty. A descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional study design was used. The data were collected from February to March, 2001. Convenient sampling was done from 194 subjects living in Jeju Do, but 167 subjects among these were used for the study analysis. Hierarchical Stepwise Regression was used to identify significant factors. The results of this study were as follows: In general, self-esteem status of the schooler in poor families was relatively poor. In stepwise regression analysis, self-esteem status was significantly influenced by emotional home environment, duration of poverty and frequency of parent-child tactics. These variables explained 26.8% of the variance of schooler's self-esteem. Conclusively, it is recommended that nursing intervention programs for schooler in poor family should be a focus to enhance the economic context as well as family effect.
