고강도 강섬유 보강 시멘트 복합체의 워커빌리티 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Workability of High Strength Steed Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites)

  • 본 논문에서는 고성능 감수제, 증점제, 광물질 혼화재 및 강섬유의 양과 종류가 고강도 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 워커빌리티에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 검토하였다. 그 결과, 고강도 강섬유 보강 시멘트 복합체의 워커빌리티는 고성능 감수제, 증점제 및 광물질 혼화재를 적절히 사용함으로써 향상된다. 그리고 강섬유의 형상계수가 작을수록 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 워커빌리티가 향상되었으며, 또한 워커빌리티가 향상된 강섬유 보강 시멘트 복합체의 압축강도와 휨강도는 향상되는 것으로 나타났다.

50kg/mm$^{2}$급 고장력 강판의 선상가열에 따른 판상변형과 재질변화 (Distortion and transformation of high tensile strength steel plate of 50kg/mm$^{2}$grade due to line heating)

  • The line heating is a thermoplastic working technique which is used in bending work of steel plate and in correcting the distortion of welded structure. This method is considerably effective when the water-cooling is followed. In this study, an investigation was accomplished to find the effects on the change of material properties when the line heating was applied on the high tensile steel plate of 50kg/mm^2$ grade. Some steel plates were heated to various temperatures and then cooled with water or in the air. In this study, the author measured the angular distortion continuously during line heating to find out the relation between the bending efficiency and heating or water-cooling temperature. Furthermore, its material properties were examined by the V-notch Charpy impact test, the microscope observation and the Vickers hardness test. As results, the followings were clarified. (1) The amount of angular distortion increases as the heating temperature or the water-cooling temperature rises. (2) When the steel plate is heated between 700.deg. C and 900.deg. C, and then is water-cooled over 700.deg. C, some brittle structure is observed. But if the temperature of water-cooling is below 700.deg. C, no brittle one is found. (3) When the steel plate is heated over 800.deg. C and is cooled in the air, there is no unfavrable effect.

Ultimate strength behavior of steel-concrete-steel sandwich beams with ultra-lightweight cement composite, Part 1: Experimental and analytical study

  • Ultra-lightweight cement composite (ULCC) with a compressive strength of 60 MPa and density of $1450kg/m^3$ has been developed and used in the steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich structures. ULCC was adopted as the core material in the SCS sandwich composite beams to reduce the overall structural weight. Headed shear studs working in pairs with overlapped lengths were used to achieve composite action between the core material and steel face plates. Nine quasi-static tests on this type of SCS sandwich composite beams were carried out to evaluate their ultimate strength performances. Different parameters influencing the ultimate strength of the SCS sandwich composite beams were studied and discussed. Design equations were developed to predict the ultimate resistance of the cross section due to pure bending, pure shear and combined action between shear and moment. Effective stiffness of the sandwich composite beam section is also derived to predict the elastic deflection under service load. Finally, the design equations were validated by the test results.

Duplex Stainless Steel의 저온 플라즈마 침질탄화시 Pulse Frequency 및 Duty Factor에 따른 표면 특성평가 (The Influence of Pulse Frequency and Duty Factor on Surface Characteristics during Low Temperature Plasma Nitrocarburizing Treatment of Duplex Stainless Steel)

  • A low temperature plasma nitrocarburizng was implemented on the duplex stainless steel to achieve the enhancement of surface hardness without degradation of its corrosion resistance. Attempts were made to investigate the influence of Pulse frequency and Duty factor of pulsed power in a high Pulse frequency regime on the surface characteristics of the hardened layer. The hardened layer (S-phase) was formed on all of the treated surfaces. Surface hardness reached up to 1300 $HV_{0.1}$ which is about 4.6 times higher than that of the untreated material (280 $HV_{0.1}$). The thickness of the hardened layer tends to increase lightly with the higher Pulse frequency and the higher Duty factor. The corrosion resistance of nitrocarburized duplex stainless steel was almost similar to that of the untreated material. Both the Pulse frequency and the Duty factor do not have a significant influence on the corrosion property of plasma treated duplex stainless steel.

  • In this study, additive manufacturing of a functionally graded material (FGM) as an alternative to joining dissimilar metals is investigated using directed energy deposition (DED). FGM consists of five different layers, which are mixtures of austenitic stainless steel (type 316 L) and low-alloy steel (LAS, ferritic steel) at ratios of 100:0 (A layer), 75:25 (B layer), 50:50 (C layer), 25:75 (D layer), and 0:100 (E layer), respectively, in each deposition layer. The FGM samples are successfully fabricated without cracks or delamination using the DED method, and specimens are characterized using optical and scanning electron microscopy to monitor their microstructures. In layers C and D of the sample, the tensile strength is determined to be very high owing to the formation of ferrite and martensite structures. However, the elongation is high in layers A and B, which contain a large fraction of austenite.

A182 F6A Class4 재료의 피로특성과 피로해석에 대한 연구 (A Study on Fatigue Characteristics and Analysis for A 182 F6a Class 4 Materials)

  • Unlike general carbon steel, stainless steel's mechanical properties change depending on the content of chromium and nickel. In this study, since stainless steel for high-temperature pressure container parts is used as shafts, the fatigue strength and fatigue limit of the materials were evaluated using a rotational bending fatigue test. Meanwhile, fatigue analysis was conducted under the same conditions as the specimen for structural analysis and fatigue analysis of stainless steel for high-temperature pressure container parts. Using the fatigue analysis results, we tried to derive the life of the material and the safety factor for each part. As a result of performing a fatigue test by processing a specimen for the fatigue test of A182 F6A stainless steel, the fatigue limit was 548 MPa. The ratio between the tensile strength and fatigue limit of the material was 0.545, representing 54.5% of the tensile strength.

  • The demand for high-strength steel is rising due to its economic efficiency. Low-cycle fatigue (LCF) tests have been conducted to investigate the nonlinear behaviors of high-strength steel. Accurate material models must be used to obtain reliable results on seismic performance evaluation using numerical analyses. This study uses the combined hardening model to simulate the LCF behavior of high-strength steel. However, it is challenging and complex to determine material model parameters for specific high-strength steel because a highly nonlinear equation is used in the model, and several parameters need to be resolved. This study used the particle swarm algorithm (PSO) to determine the model parameters based on the LCF test data of HSA 650 steel. It is shown that the model with parameter values selected from the PSO accurately simulates the measured LCF curves.

고망간강의 함정 선체 적용 가능성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Applicability of High Manganese Steel to Naval Ship Hulls)

  • A naval mine is an effective weapon system implemented for defending defends ports and seas. A mine is an underwater weapon that poses a great threat to ships sailing over the sea from shallow areas. Most of the influence-type naval mines detect magnetic field signals from ships and determine the final time of fire. Therefore, the level of underwater electro-magnetic signatures of ships is a key requirement for determining the survival of ships in wartime situations where mines are emplaced. The main reason why the high manganese steel is attracting attention for naval ship hulls is its nature as a non-magnetic steel. The non-magnetic hull does not generate electro-magnetic signatures; thus, it has the advantage improving the stealth of the ship. In this paper, I examine whether this material can be applied in the hulls material of naval ships that must be ableto reduce underwater electro-magnetic signatures by considering the non-magnetic characteristics of the first developed high manganese steel in the world.
