The pick up impurity was studied for preparing the NiCuZn ferrite powder by a ball milling method that usually uses in the industrial ceramic process. The raw materials of NiO, CuO, ZnO, and $Fe_2O_3$ powder were weighted according to various spinel composition and mixed for 18 hrs by a wet ball milling method after that the slurry was followed by spray dried and calcined at $700^{\circ}C$ 3 hrs. The calcined NCZF powder was finally ball milled during 65 hrs as same method. The stainless steel ball and jar are used as mixing and milling equipment and the solid concentration of the slurry was 25 vol%. The impurities, stainless steel pickup, were effected by the composition of raw materials especially iron oxide, nickel oxide in the mixing process and by the rate of calcine of NiCuZn ferrite in final milling process. The empirical equation of stainless steel pickup was driven in the wet ball milling system. Finally, the composition of NiCuZn ferrite could be controlled by the empirical equation.

The high-energy milling is one of the most extended techniques to produce Oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) powder steels for nuclear applications. The consequences of the high energy mill process on the final powders can be measured by means of deformation level, size, morphology and alloying degree. In this work, an ODS ferritic steel, Fe-14Cr-5Al-3W-0.4Ti-0.25Y2O3-0.6Zr, was fabricated using two different mechanical alloying (MA) conditions (Mstd and Mact) and subsequently consolidated by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). Milling conditions were set to evidence the effectivity of milling by changing the revolutions per minute (rpm) and dwell milling time. Differences on the particle size distribution as well as on the stored plastic deformation were observed, determining the consolidation ability of the material and the achieved microstructure. Since recrystallization depends on the plastic deformation degree, the composition of each particle and the promoted oxide dispersion, a dual grain size distribution was attained after SPS consolidation. Mact showed the highest areas of ultrafine regions when the material is consolidated at 1100 ℃. Microhardness and small punch tests were used to evaluate the material under room temperature and up to 500 ℃. The produced materials have attained remarkable mechanical properties under high temperature conditions.

In this study, the cutting conditions of moving speed, number of main axial revolutions, etc. are changed for the chrome molybdenum steel (SCM415) material and carbide ball end mill tool to study the changes for processing intensity in the cutting process. The results that confirm the intensity of the measured value of the specimen for SCM415 display the intensity with an average 1.0667 HrC. After the fact cutter, it was able to confirm the average intensity of 8.3815 HrC. In addition, the intensity value after image processing may determine the average intensity survey value of 5.8690 HrC and the different intensity values with image processing after face cutting are shown for an average of ${\pm}2.5125HrC$. The different value of intensity with the specimen and image processing is confirmed for an average of 4.8024 HrC. The results of comparing the intensity following the number of main axial revolutions and moving speed show that the intensity is highest for 3,000 rpm and F200, and lowest for 4,000 rpm and F200.
A slip critical joint has various values to adopt the proper slip coefficient in various conditions of faying surfaces in the following codes: AISC, AIJ and Eurocode 3. However, the Korean Building Code still regulates the unique slip coefficient, 0.45, regardless of the diverse faying conditions. In this study, the slip resistance test, including five kinds of surface treatments were conducted to obtain the proper slip coefficients available to steel plate KS SM490A. The faying surfaces were comprised of a clean mill, rust, red lead paint, zinc primer, and shot blast treatment. The candidates for high strength bolts were torque-shear bolts, torque-shear bolts with zinc coating, and ASTM A490 bolts. Based on the test results, the specimens with a shot blasted surface and rusted surface exhibited $k_s$, 0.61, and 0.5, respectively. It is recommended that the specimens with zinc primer exhibit $k_s{\geq}0.40$. The clean mill treated surface had prominently lower values, 0.27. For red lead painted treatment, the thickness of the coating affects the determinant of slip coefficient, so it is necessary to establish a minimum $k_s$ of 0.2, with a coating thickness of 65 ${\mu}m$. During 1,000 hours of relaxation, the uncoated surfaces exhibited the loss of clamping force behind 3%, while the coated surfaces within a certain limited thickness exhibited the loss of clamping within a range of 4.71% and 8.37%.
The initial NiCuZn synthetic ferrite were acquired from thermally decomposing the metal nitrates $Fe(NO_3)_39H_2O, Zn(NO_3)_26H_2O, Ni(NO_3)_26H_2O, and Cu(NO_3)_23H_2O$ at $150^circ{C}$ for 24 hours, and then we calcined the synthetic powder at $500^circ{C}$, pulverized each of those for 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 hours in a steel ball mill, sintered each at $700^circ{C}$ to $1,000^circ{C}$ for 1 hour, and thus studied their microstructures and electromagnetic properties. We could make the initial specimens chemically bonded in liquidity at a low-temperature $150^circ{C}$, by using the low melting points less than $200^circ{C}$ of the metal nitrates instead of the mechanical ball-mill pulverization, then narrow a distance between the particles into a molecular one, and thus lower the reaction point of sintering by at least $200^circ{C}$ to $300^circ{C}$. Their initial permeability was 50 to 400 and their maximum magnetic induction density and coercive force, 2,400 G and 0.3 Oe to 0.5 Oe respectively, which was similar to those of NiZnCu ferrite synthesized in the conventional process. In the graph of initial permeability by frequencies, a $180^circ{C}$ rotation of the magnetic domains which appears in a broad band of micro-wave before and after the resonance frequency, could be perceived.
As a basic study for reusing converter slag as slow-release potassium fertilizer by a sintering process, powdery converter slag and reagent grade $SiO_2\;and\;K_2CO_3$ were mixed with ball mill above 24 hours and sintered at $900^{\circ}C{\sim}1000^{\circ}C\;for\;10{\sim}60$ min. Basicity of the mixed powder was controlled to 0.7, 1.0 and 1.4 and content of $K_2O$ was fixed with 22 mass%. After sintering, property of the potassium fertilizer was investigated with X-ray diffraction pattern and ICP analysis. Also effects of basicity, sintering temperature and time on the making slow-release potassium fertilizer was investigated. Water solubility of KBO in sample were decreased with sintering time, temperature and decreased with basicity. Citric acid solubility of $K_2O$ were increased with basicity and decreased with sintering temperature.

The horizontal force acting on a work roll was examined. This force results from the contact force between the work roll and backup roll in a backup-roll-drive 4-high cold-rolling mill. This horizontal force bends the work roll horizontally and therefore exerts reciprocal action on the roll-gap contour. An analytical model for predicting the horizontal force acting on a work roll, which generates a mean value in the steady state, was presented. The material used for the analysis was high-silicon steel (about 3% Si). A three-dimensional finite element (FE) model was also employed to investigate the non-steady-state behavior of the horizontal force. Results showed that the horizontal force varied with the off-center distance between the work roll and backup roll. In addition, the optimal off-center distance was determined to minimize the horizontal force.
Background: Workers laboring in steel industries in tropical settings with high ambient temperatures are subjected to thermally stressful environments that can create well-known risks of heat-related illnesses and limit workers' productivity. Methods: A cross-sectional study undertaken in a steel industry in a city nicknamed "Steel City" in Southern India assessed thermal stress by wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) and level of dehydration from urine color and urine specific gravity. A structured questionnaire captured self-reported heat-related health symptoms of workers. Results: Some 90% WBGT measurements were higher than recommended threshold limit values ($27.2-41.7^{\circ}C$) for heavy and moderate workloads and radiational heat from processes were very high in blooming-mill/coke-oven ($67.6^{\circ}C$ globe temperature). Widespread heat-related health concerns were prevalent among workers, including excessive sweating, fatigue, and tiredness reported by 50% workers. Productivity loss was significantly reported high in workers with direct heat exposures compared to those with indirect heat exposures ($x^2=26.1258$, degrees of freedom = 1, p < 0.001). Change in urine color was 7.4 times higher among workers exposed to WBGTs above threshold limit values (TLVs). Conclusion: Preliminary evidence shows that high heat exposures and heavy workload adversely affect the workers' health and reduce their work capacities. Health and productivity risks in developing tropical country work settings can be further aggravated by the predicted temperature rise due to climate change, without appropriate interventions. Apart from industries enhancing welfare facilities and designing control interventions, further physiological studies with a seasonal approach and interventional studies are needed to strengthen evidence for developing comprehensive policies to protect workers employed in high heat industries.

The Ruhr area in the Northwestern Germany grew rapidly from the 1850s based on coal mining and iron and steel industries, playing a key role as an engine of industrial growth. Since the 1950s, however, the area has been experiencing a serious economic crisis as the traditional industries declined. The crisis was comprised of increasing unemployment and abandoned industrial lands and facilities. Oberhausen and Gelsenkirhen are typical cities of the Ruhr, characterized by such economic crisis. Oberhausen attempted to solve the problems by developing a large leisure town, composed of a sopping mall, restaurants, and other arts and cultural activities, on a former steel mill site. Gelsenkirhen, on the other hand, went on to promote renewable energy industries, business incubators, and energy-saving housing complexes. This paper analyses the processes and outcomes of urban revitalization policies of the two cities, based on the path dependence theory, and draws theoretical and policy implications.

This study has been carried out in two-phases to develop Fiber Reinforced Self-Compacting Concrete (FRSCC) performance. In the first phase, the composition of the quaternary composite binder compromised CEM I 42.5N (58-70%), Rice Husk Ash (25-37%), quartz sand (2.5-7.5%) and limestone crushing waste (2.5-7.5%) were optimized. And in the second phase, the effect of two fiber types (steel brass-plated and basalt) was investigated on the SCC optimized with the optimum CB as disperse reinforcement at 6 different ratios of 1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0% by weight of mix for each type. In this study, the theoretical principles of the synthesis of self-compacting dispersion-reinforced concrete have been developed which consists of optimizing structure-formation processes through the use of a mineral modifier, together with ground crushed cement in a vario-planetary mill to a specific surface area of 550 m2 / kg. The amorphous silica in the modifier composition intensifies the binding of calcium hydroxide formed during the hydration of C3S, helps reduce the basicity of the cement-composite, while reducing the growth of portlandite crystals. Limestone particles contribute to the formation of calcium hydrocarbonate and, together with fine ground quartz sand; act as microfiller, clogging the pores of the cement. Furthermore, the results revealed that the effect of fiber addition improves the mechanical properties of FRSCC. It was found that the steel fiber performed better than basalt fiber on tensile strength and modulus of elasticity; however, both fibers have the same performance on the first crack strength and sample destruction of FRSCC. It also illustrates that there will be an optimum percentage of fiber addition.
