In this study, the reliablility based design optimization is peformed for an aircraft wing. The flexiblility of the wing was assumed by considering the interaction modeled by static aeroelasticity between aerodynamic forces and the structure. For a multidisciplinary design optimization the results of aerodynamic analysis and structural analysis were included in the optimization formulation. The First Order Reliability Method(FORM) was employed to consider the uncertainty of the designed points.

In this paper, the structural integrity for a cylindrical vehicle in subsonic environments is verified. In order to confirm static structural safety for the cylindrical vehicle in extreme maneuver condition, the structure analysis and full-scale static structure test are carried out. The commercial finite element codes, MSC. Patran/Nastran is used for numerical simulation. The full-scale static structure test equipment consists of the counterbalance system, loading system and data acquisition system. Besides, the dynamic characteristics for the cylindrical vehicle are reviewed by performing an impact hammer test.
In this study, static and dynamic transient analysis of tracked vehicle structure with recoil impact load is performed for transient impact and traveling load using ANSYS and ABAQUS FEM codes. When transient impact loads are applied at tracked vehicle, the maximum dynamic Von Mises stress occurs between beam stiffener of upper plate and race ring and stress level is about 390-450 MPa. The results of transient analysis shows similar level and tendency with static stress with dynamic force effect of 1.6. The excessive stresses occur around the race ring for the both cases. When the traveling loads are applied on the tracked vehicle, the maximum Tresca stress occurs around suspension #1 and is about 450 MPa and results of static and nonlinear transient analysis are quite similar.
This study investigates the static and dynamic structural analysis of symmetrical and asymmetrical coupled shear walls using the continuous and modified transfer matrix methods by idealizing the coupled shear wall as a three-field CTB-type replacement beam. The coupled shear wall is modeled as a continuous structure consisting of the parallel coupling of a Timoshenko beam in tension (with axial extensibility in the shear walls) and a shear beam (replacing the beam coupling effect between the shear walls). The variational method using the Hamilton principle is used to obtain the coupled differential equations and the boundary conditions associated with the model. Using the continuous method, closed-form analytical solutions to the differential equation for the coupled shear wall with uniform properties along the height are derived and a numerical solution using the modified transfer matrix is proposed to overcome the difficulty of coupled shear walls with non-uniform properties along height. The computational advantage of the modified transfer matrix method compared to the classical method is shown. The results of the numerical examples and the parametric analysis show that the proposed analytical and numerical model and method is accurate, reliable and involves reduced processing time for generalized static and dynamic structural analysis of coupled shear walls at a preliminary stage and can used as a verification method in the final stage of the project.

Heat generation in machine operating condition makes thermal deformation and thermalstress in the structure, which results in the change the contact characteristics of machine joint such s change of shrinkage fit, contact heat conductance and contact pressure. As the change of contact pressure is related to variation of static, dynamic and thermalcharacteristics, the prediction of transient contact perssure is strongly required. This paper presents some analytical results which will be effective to predict static and dynamic characteristics of the compound cylindrical structure.

Evaluation method of seismic performance has mainly used elastic spectrum analysis. This method has simplicity of analysis but deficiency of accuracy. And evaluation method of seismic performance using inelastic dynamic analysis reflects accurately inelasticity of material but hardly reflects site effects. This study suggested evaluation scheme of seismic performance for bridge structure using capacity spectrum method applied inelastic static analysis and standard design response spectrum of Korea Standard Specification for Highway Bridge. Two results, capacity spectrum method and inelastic dynamic analysis method, are very similar. As a result, this study appropriately supply both simplicity of analysis and accuracy of result.

AE technique was applied to the static structural test of the composite wing structure to evaluate the structural integrity and damage. During the test, strain and displacements measurement technique were used to figure out for static structural strength. AE parameter analysis and source location technique were used to evaluate the internal damage and find out damage source location. Design limit load test, the 1st and 2nd design ultimate load tests and fracture test were performed. Main AE source was detected by an sensor attached on skin near by front lug. Especially, at the 1st design ultimate test, strain and displacements results didn't show internal damage but AE signal presented a phenomenon that the internal damage was formed. At the fracture test, AE activities were very lively, and strain and displacements results showed a tendency that the load path was changed by severe damage. The internal damage initiation load and location were accurately evaluated during the static structural test using AE technique. It is certified from this paper that AE technique is useful technique for evaluation of internal damage at static structural strength test.
The unsteady-state, incompressible and three-dimensional large eddy simulation(LES) was carried out to analyze the structure of turbulent flow fields according to the operating loads of three-dimensional small-size axial fan(SSAF). LES shows the best prediction performance in comparison with any other Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) method because static pressure coefficients analysed by LES show a little bit larger than measurements including all flow coefficients. Also, it can be known that the wake of SSAF is divided into from axial flow to radial flow before and behind stall region according to the increase of static pressure through LES analysis.

The objective of the current study is to characterize the long-term stability and efficacy of a structural adhesive assembly under static load. An apparatus was designed to be used in the Instron tensile test machine that would allow for real time modeling of the failure characteristics of an assembly utilizing a moisture- cure adhesive which was bonded to concrete. A regression model was developed that followed a linear - natural log function which was used to predict the expected life of the assembly. Evaluations at different curing times confirmed the structure was more robust with longer cure durations prior to loading. Finally, the results show that under the conditions the assembly was tested, there was only a small amount of inelastic creep and the regression models demonstrated the potential for a stable structure lasting several decades.
A all floating structures operating within a limited area require, stationkeeping to maintain the motions of the floating structure within permissible limits. In this study, methods for selecting and optimizing the mooring system Caisson for floating wind turbines in shallow water are investigated. The design of the mooring system is checked against the governing rules and standards. Adequately verifying the design of floating structures requires both numerical simulations and model testing, the combination of which is referred to as the hybrid method of design verification. The challenge in directly scaling moorings for model tests is the depth and spatial limitations of wave basins. It is therefore important to design and build equivalent mooring systems to ensure accurate static properties (global restoring forces and global stiffness).
