  • This study examined the nurse images perceived by nursing students. The study was specifically meant to determine what images grade 2 and 3 nursing students had about nurses before and after their clinical practice to define the nurse's image. The selected nursing students were interviewed to obtain their opinions on the definition and necessity of a nurse and what a great nurse should be like as well as their prejudice about nurses, and content analysis was carried out to categorize their statements. As a result, 48 significant statements and 14 categories were selected. The findings of the study might not be generalizable because the subjects in this study were selected by convenience sampling from two different nursing departments located in Gangwon Province and Gyeonggi Province. More concrete and reliable results are expected if more students from more geographic regions are investigated.

  • This study aims to compare the government accounting reform of advanced countries and South Korea and suggest policy implications for South Korea. The reform steps are structured down to institutional introduction, institutional formation and institutional stability. I researched the literatures on the government accounting system and compiled research materials from the Finance Ministries, Audit Offices, and Government Accounting Standards Boards websites of New Zealand, US, UK and South Korea. Analysis showed that advanced countries and South Korea have adopted accrual accounting systems which have provided more comprehensive and objective financial information. But the government accounting system of South Korea compared with those of advanced countries needs reform. The suggestions of this study include: expanding range of whole of government financial statements; giving coherence to the public accounting standards; adopting government audit system; and introducing accrual budgeting. However, there are differences between business accounting and government accounting and the differences are considered for government accounting reform.

  • For the operation of the practical software systems, the development of new software, extension and modification phases of current software are successively needed through the new requirements added and their errors debugging detected. We need to understand current program exactly during a working serial jobs. When we'd like to extract the statements which influence the variable of specific statement of program, we generally analyze the program behavior through execution trace of program for the input values. It is important to compute dynamic program slice related to all statements that actually affect the value of a variable occurrence for a given program input and to develop techniques of its implementation. But traditional dynamic slicing techniques are inconvenient to make program execution history at the beginning implementation. In this paper, we propose a new improved algorithm which can produce program slice by use of dynamic control information and program slicing techniques except execution history file. Also we can find that the proposed program slicing approach is more efficient than the traditional program slicing algorithm on the practical testing environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify patients' perceptions of health professionals' unkind behavior and the effects of this unkind behavior using a Phenomenological research methodology. Understanding of this phenomena should enlighten nurses to interaction and relationship problems between patient and health professionals and thus lead to further research toward enhancing these interaction and relationships. The subjects were 40 adult patients hospitalized in a university hospital in Seoul. They were from 20 to 65 yews old and hospitalized at IM, GS, OS, NS, OB /GY ward. Their hospital days were from 4 to 72. Data were collected from July 29 to August 9, 1991 and from January 6 to 17, 1992. The research questions were “What behavior on the part of health professionals you perceive as unkind and what effect does such behavior have in you\ulcorner”. Responses to the non-structured open-ended questions were audio-recorded during the interviews done by two nurses researchers. Data were analyzed using the phenomenological method of Colazzi. The validity was enhanced by confirmation of the analysis by two nursing clinical researchers, and professor of psychology, and philosophy, all knowledgable of phenomenological research. From the protocols, 146 significant statements about unkind behavior were organized into 38 formulating meanings which were then grouped into six clusters of themes. Patients' Perceived health professional' unkind behavior as being cold, insincere, unconcerned, disregardful, lacking in technical skill, and failing to provide a therapeutic environment. From the protocols, 65 significant statements about the influence of such behavior on patient care were organized into 18 formulating meanings which were then grouped into four clusters of themes. Patients perceived these unkind behavior influencing then emotionally, physically and having negative effects on their compliance with medical and nursing care. The study points to the need for health professionals to understand how their behavior may be perceived by their patients as unkind behavior. Patients perceptions of health professionals' unkind behavior may suggest the opposite desire, that professionals have exellent medical knowledge and skill and that they be sincere, concerned, respectful and warm emotionally toward their patients.

  • This study is a research of conceptual development to find the factors of presence. The concept and the definition of presence received from literary review. On the basis of these findings, we formulate the contents of presence through structured interview guide composed of open-ended questionnaire which included the frequency, attitude, and posture. We selected 104 samples who are the patients, doctors, nurses, and other health providers. And then the contents of presence were established after integrating the formulated contents and putting them in order. The categorizing of the presence was made after discussing with specialist in this field. By using the selected contents, we made 25 statements of presence which were categorized into three factors. The results were as follows: 1. The definition of presence is being with at the same time and space, making attention with openness, and the therapeutic interaction with empathy. 2. The contents of presence through personal interviews are The time required is 5 minutes(46.15%), 2-3 minutes(34.61%), and 10 minutes (15.38%) respectively. The frequency of visiting is 3 times(39.20%), every time(23.07%), and more than 5 times(20.19%) respectively. \circled2 In case of being with nurse is having pain(39.42%), suffering trouble or severe fear(9.61%), feeling discomfort(8.65%), taking care of wound(7.69%), and other unfavorable symptoms(6.73%) respectively. \circled3 The posture being with nurse is depends on the situations(63.46%), sitting(26.92%), and standing(9.61%) respectively. Eye contact with nurse is face to face(78.84%), depends on the situations(20.19%), and not face to face(0.96%) respectively. \circled4 The attitudes of comfort are explaining about disease(23.07%), holding on hands (14.42%), touching on the suffering parts (11.53%), and unconditionally being with(7.69%) respectively. \circled5 Nurses' caring actions are kindness (27.88%), replying to the question (12.50%), smiling(10.57%), bright appearances (8.65%), and right and quick treatment(8.65%) respectively. \circled6 The effects of being with are peaceful mind(58.65%), quick recovery(13.46%), and decrease in fear(12.50%) respectively. \circled7 The attitudes of being with are listening (11.53%), recognition(8.65%), talking about discomfort(8.65%), and answering kindly (7.69%) respectively. 3. From the analysis of presence factors, 25 statements and 3 categorized factors are presented.

  • One of the jai or purposes of multiprocessor system is to get a high efficiency in performance improvement. But in most cases, it is unavoidable to use some special programming languages or tools for full use of multiprocessor system. In general, loop and recursive call statements of algorithms are considered as typical parts for parallelization. Especially, recursive call statements are easy to parallelize conceptually without support of any special languages or tools. But it is difficult to control the degree of parallelism caused by high depth of recursive call leading to execution crash. This paper proposes a device to control Parallelism in the process of POSIX thread bated parallelization of recursive algorithms. For this, we define the concept of thread and process in UNIX system, and analyze the results of experimental application of the device to quick sorting algorithm.

  • This study aims to analyze typographic expressions used in recent fashion trends from the perspective of conceptual art and thus identify a variety of meanings. Towards this end, theoretical considerations were made vis-à-vis the main concepts of research, such as typography and conceptual art, and the ready-made, documentation, intervention and language, which are the expressive features of conceptual art, were applied to fashion typography as analytical frameworks. The results are as follows. The ready-made appears in a way that borrows or transforms the visual identity of other brands, and documentation is utilized in a way that lays tautological or contradictory texts together. Intervention arises, while leading to more complex layers of meaning when borrowing the visual identity of the brand, which is conceptually irrelevant. The language is expressed as statements about contemporary social issues, such as environmental protection, ethical consumption and gender problems. Based on the findings of this study, it can be confirmed that in fashion design, typography serves as an effective marketing tool and a medium of social statements. Moreover, it can expand into the possibility of generating new meanings as a novel way of visual expression.
