  • In this paper the feedback linearization of the valve-controlled nonlinear hydraulic velocity control system and the Implementation of the digital state feedback controller is studied. The C.inf. nonlinear transformation to the electro-hydraulic velocity control system, which transforms nonlinear system to linear equivalent one, is obtained. It is shown that this transformation Is global one. The digital controller to this linearized model is obtained by using the one-step ahead state estimator and implemented to real plant. The proposed method In this paper is easier to implement than other proposed methods and it is possible to control in real tine. The experiment and simulation study show that the implementation of the digital state feedback controller based on the feedback linearized model is successful.

  • In this paper, we propose a control strategy for a class of nonholonomic systems. A system with nonholonomic constraint is called a nonholonomic system, and as Brockett showed, the equilibrium of such systems can not be stabilized with any continuous static state feedbacks even though the system is controllable in the sense of nonlinear. A control strategy we propose is transforming this system into time-state control form by coordinate transformation and input transformation. We will apply this control strategy to the motion control of a rigid ball that is held between two parallel plates.

  • The contrast and the brightness of a liquid crystal display panel are expressed in terms of the characteristic parameters of the rotational transformation on the Poincare sphere of the liquid crystal (LC) cell, which is the geometric representation of the electro-optic polarization transmission characteristics of the cell. From these, we show that the contrast and the brightness of the displayed images can be maximized when the rotation angle becomes $180^{\circ}$ for the rotational transformation corresponding to the change of the state of the LC cell from non-select to select state. state.

  • This paper proposes a parallel reduced-order square-root unscented Kalman filter for state estimation of a sensorless permanent-magnet synchronous motor. The appearance of an unscented Kalman filter is caused by the linearization process error between a real system and classical Kalman model. The unscented transformation can make a more accurate Kalman model. However, the complexity is its main drawback. This paper investigates the design and implementation of the proposed filter with Potter and Carlson square-root form. The proposed parallel reduced-order square-root unscented Kalman filter reduces memory and code size, and improves numerical computation. And the performance is not significantly different from the unscented Kalman filter. The experimentation is performed for the verification of the proposed filter.

  • In this paper, a state steering strategy using digital control method for chained system is presented. The chained system can be derived from the velocity or acceleration constraints that cannot be integrable. Especially, the chained system derived from an acceleration constraints is called the high order chained system. Such a system classified as a nonholonomic systems and cannot be controlled to its equilibrium points by continuous and time-invariant controller. Therefore discontinuous and time varying controller should be applied to control nonholonomic system. Using variable transformation, two sub system can be obtained from the chained or high order chained system. Deadbeat control and iterative state steering methods are proposed to control the systems that obtained from the variable transformation. Simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

  • In this paper, the theoretical development to stabilize a class of uncertain time-delay systems via sliding mode control is presented. The system under consideration is described in state space model containing state delay, uncertain parameters and disturbance. The main idea is to reduce the state of delayed system, by employing the generalize linear transformation, into an equivalent one with no delay inside, which is easier to analyze its behavior and stability. Then, the sliding control approach is employed to find the stabilizing control law. Finally, a numerical simulation is illustrated to show the algorithm for applying the proposed theorems and the efffetiveness of the designed control law in stabilizing the controlled systems.

  • This paper is focussed on the problem of robustly stabilizing a transformable linear time-varying system. The considered system is a class of state feedback transformable linear systems. First, the real linear time-varying system is transformed into the linear time invariant system composed with the time-invariant linear part and the time-varying uncertainty part. Second, the solution to a quadratic stabilization problem in the transformed linear system is give via' Lyapunov methods. Then this solution is used to construct a stabilizing linear control law for the real linear time-varying system.

  • According to revisions of survey law taking effect on January 1, 2003, the Korean geodetic datum has been changed from a local geodetic to a world geodetic system. In this study, the datum transformation parameters especially for the maritime geographical data are determined. From database constructed through MGIS, a total of 492 coordinate pairs were selected and used in the parameter determination after outlier testing. Based on the parameter estimation, the Molodensky model is selected for datum transformation. For higher accuracy, Application of network optimization and a least squares collocation with Gaussian model has resulted in the accuracy better than 15 cm in coordinate transformation.

  • Photocatalysis using UV light and catalysts is an attractive low temperature and non-energy- intensive method for remediation of a wide range of chemical contaminants like chloroform (CF). Recently development of environmental friendly and sustainable catalytic systems is needed before such catalysts can be routinely applied to large-scale remediation or drinking water treatment. Titanium dioxide is a candidate material, since it is stable, highly reactive, and inexpensive. Diatoms are photosynthetic, single-celled algae that make a microscale silica shell with nano scale features. These diatoms have an ability to biologically fabricate $TiO_2$ nanoparticles into this shell in a process that parallels nanoscale silica mineralization. We cultivated diatoms, metabolically deposited titanium into the shell by using a two-stage photobioreactor and used this biogenic $TiO_2$ to this study. In this study we evaluated how effectively biogenic $TiO_2$ nanoparticles transform CF compared with chemically-synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticlesthe and effect of pretreatment of diatom-produced $TiO_2$ nanoparticles on photocatalytic transformation of CF. The rate of CF transformation by diatom-$TiO_2$ particles is a factor of 3 slower than chemically-synthesized one and chloride ion production was also co-related with CF transformation, and 79~91% of CF mineralization was observed in two $TiO_2$ particles. And the period of sonication and mass transfer due to particle size, evaluated by difference of oxygen tention does not affect on the CF transformation. Based on the XRD analysis we conclude that slower CF transformation by diatom-$TiO_2$ might be due to incomplete annealing to the anatase form.

  • We have obtained opal-like photonic crystals based on opals and inverted opals exhibiting a shift of the selective reflection band toward longer and shorter wavelengths with respect to the diffraction band of the initial opal consisting of $SiO_2$ spheres. The contribution of frames forming three-dimensional periodic structures and that of fillers to the spectral arrangement of the diffraction bands has been determined.
