Lack of client involvement in construction of public projects has been identified as the main cause of many operational problems. Clients need to perform their roles and responsibilities effectively and efficiently at the right time and through the use of correct methods in order to have the optimum involvement required during all the construction project phases, namely, the planning, design, construction, handover, and operation and maintenance phase. This paper investigates the influence of clients' individual factors on their involvement in construction project delivery. A questionnaire survey was distributed to various government agencies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Explanatory Factory Analysis was performed to group nineteen individual factors. The factor analysis result suggests that the individual factors that can involve clients' involvement in construction projects can be grouped into five, which are: adequacy of knowledge and experience for decision making in the early stage of design; ability to communicate clearly; job satisfaction; personal skills; and expertise in design and construction.

국내건설시장의 불확실성과 해외 EPC도급 사업의 수주 경쟁력 약화로 인해, 국내건설기업의 해외개발사업에 대한 관심은 최근 크게 증가하고 있다. 해외개발사업을 수주하기 위해서는 오랜 준비기간과 판매비용이 투입되기 때문에 사업발굴초기에 수주까지 달성할 수 있는 사업을 선별하는 것은 의사결정자에게 매우 중요하다. 하지만, 기존 연구는 사업초기단계보다는 사업개발 전체단계 관점의 타당성평가가 대부분이었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 31개 해외개발사업을 대상으로 사업발굴단계의 사업추진역량, 상업적 조건, 비상업적조건, 전략 및 공익성의 28개 의사결정요소와 사업수주 성공/실패의 관계를 분석하였다. 이를 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 입찰형 사업과 제안형 사업의 리스크는 다소 다르며, 제안형 사업이 대체적으로 리스크가 크기 때문에 보다 나은 사업추진역량과 금융조건을 필요로 한다. 둘째, 사업발굴단계 이후에도 개선이 쉽게 되지 않는 사업추진역량의 중요도가 높다고 분석되었다. 셋째, 상업적 조건의 경우, 사업발굴단계에서는 판단하기 어려운 부분이 있으나 수주가능성을 판단하는데는 유의미하게 중요한 요인으로 평가되었다. 넷째, 비상업적 조건과 전략 및 공익성은 사업발굴단계의 수주가능성 예측에는 유의미한 변수로 평가되지는 않았다. 본 연구는 해외개발사업의 수주가능성을 발굴단계 초점을 맞추어 실제 프로젝트를 기반으로 실증적으로 분석했다는데 의의가 있다.

Fibre to the home (FTTH) in KOREA has grown rapidly in recent years. The number of FTTH subscribers exceeded 6.6 millions by end of DEC 2008. It seems that FTTH has moved from the initial, the growth stage to the mature stage. Some design techniques have been developed in order to construct the access network effectively for the mature stage. This paper deal with design, construction and maintenance of optical fibre access networks immediately, effectively and economically.

This paper addresses the data classification using the induction of decision trees. A weakness of other techniques of induction of decision trees is that decision trees are too large because they construct decision trees until leaf nodes have a single class. Our study include both overcoming this weakness and constructing decision trees which is small and accurate. First, we construct the decision trees using classification threshold and exception threshold in construction stage. Next, we present two stage pruning method using classification threshold and reduced error pruning in pruning stage. Empirical results show that our method obtain the decision trees which is accurate and small.

This paper focuses on the single stage and multistage performance characteristics of centrifugal mixed flow submersible borewell pump. This study reveals that the performance of single stage pump is higher than that of multistage pumps. The head, input power and efficiency of single stage pump are higher than the per stage head, per stage input power and efficiency of multistage pumps. This study is divided into three parts. In the first part, five prototype pumps were made in single stage and multistage construction and the performance tests were conducted. In the second part, numerical validation has been done for different turbulence models and grid sizes. k-Omega SST model has been selected for the performance simulation and was validated with the performance of the test pump with static pressure tappings. In the third part, single and three stage pump performance were simulated numerically and compared with experimental results. The detailed analysis of pressure and velocity distributions reveals the difference in performance of single and three stage pump, due to non-uniform flow and difference in averaged flow velocities at the subsequent impeller inlets except the 1st stage impeller inlet.

This paper represents the construction of laser beam writing system, laser lithography, using new method that guarantees convenience and accuracy in laser focusing. The X, Y translation stage using DC motors was controlled by the computer. Minimum line width of 1.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ was obtained by the laser lithography system.

This paper presents the knowledge and information construction trends in the oil industry. The investigated results show that the website construction and e-business level in oil industries including oil circulation distributors are very low and introduction stage compared with those of other industries.

건설 산업은 각 단계별 업무 프로세스의 분절 및 프로젝트 관리를 위한 다양한 소프트웨어 등이 업무 단위별로 상이함에 따라 단계별로 생성되는 다양한 데이터의 누락이 발생하며, 효과적인 공유 및 이를 활용한 신속한 의사결정 등에 한계를 보이고 있다. 또한 이로 인한 잦은 설계 변경 등의 문제가 발생하고 있다. 이 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 프로젝트에 참여하는 다양한 주체들 간의 협업 및 원활한 정보 공유의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 이와 같은 문제를 해결하귀 위하여 BIM(Building Information Mode1ing)으로 지칭되는 3D 기반의 정보 체계와 동시 공학(CE, Concurrent Engineering) 개념을 바탕으로 제조업 등에서 활발히 사용되고 있는 PLM(Product Life cycle Management) 시스템을 건설 산업 특성에 적합한 형태로 벤치마킹하여, 건설 프로젝트 통합의사결정 지원 체계(Construction Project Life-cycle Management) 구축을 위한 CPLM의 프로세스 모델 및 시나리오를 제시하고자 한다.

The production process of construction industry is different from thing of the general manufacturing, likewise various participants make temporary teamwork for success of the project through sharing of information. But the each role of participants is individually changed to step in construction process stage and moreover it has complicated, entangled interests. The Construction Management was inducted for the effective management and operation of construction project. The Key of the Construction Management success depends on the cooperative relationship relation to major participants. The domestic construction system is difficult with many trial and errors for the frequent plan change. As the building are more bigger and complicated, Building Information Modeling is demanded design and maintenance. This evaluation was done by the trust on the system as well as Construction Management. And then it applies the BIM it analyzes the example of construcrion project.

Apartments construction is a one of largest parts in buildings construction. In apartments construction, work interferences are frequently occurred in work processing because workspaces are very various and numerous. However, though work process is important for mainly influencing to the schedule, quality and cost of apartments construction, these work interferences are considered a kind of uncertainty, which is difficult to anticipate at construction planning stage, in work processing. Therefore, this study proposed the measures for work interference reduction in apartment buildings construction and the actual planning for practices. The results can be summarized as follows: (1) the standard of work process is checked regularly. (2) The scope of work and work process is adjusted. (3) The standard of drawings process and cost about work interferences work profess is established.
