Improvement of the Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map (ECVAM) by Complement of the Vegetation Community Stability Item (식생 군집구조 안정성 평가항목 보완을 통한 국토환경성평가지도 개선방안 연구)

  • The Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map (ECVAM) is a five grade assessment map created with nationally integrated environmental information and environmental values. The map is made through the evaluation of 67 items, including greenbelt area and bio-diversity. The ECVAM assesses the stability of the community using forest maps. However, the existing assessment method is problematic because the assessment grades are evaluated using higher than practical values; in part because it uses even-valued overlay and minimal indicator methods. This study was performed in order to suggest an integrated assessment method that could complement the stability evaluation based on existing methods. Accordingly, this study added forest type information, including whether the forest was natural or artificial, to the overlay method using forest diameter maps and forest density maps. As a result, the proposed ECVAM indicated a drastic grade change. After applying the method in South Korea, Grade I areas decreased 12.1%, from 52.6% to 40.6%, Grade II areas increased 11.9%, from 17.4% to 29.2%, and Grade III areas increased 0.2%, from 17.1% to 17.4%, respectively. From the results of the field survey, we found differences between natural forest and planted forest with regard to the number of mortality, species of shrubs, and vine cover. This means that natural forests are more stable than planted forests. This study suggests an improved assessment methodology to complement the existing EVCAM method. The results are expected to be used in environmental evaluations and forest conservation value assessments in ecology and environmental fields.

An Efficient Clustering Algorithm for Massive GPS Trajectory Data (대용량 GPS 궤적 데이터를 위한 효율적인 클러스터링)

  • Digital road map generation is primarily based on artificial satellite photographing or in-site manual survey work. Therefore, these map generation procedures require a lot of time and a large budget to create and update road maps. Consequently, people have tried to develop automated map generation systems using GPS trajectory data sets obtained by public vehicles. A fundamental problem in this road generation procedure involves the extraction of representative trajectory such as main roads. Extracting a representative trajectory requires the base data set of piecewise line segments(GPS-trajectories), which have close starting and ending points. So, geometrically similar trajectories are selected for clustering before extracting one representative trajectory from among them. This paper proposes a new divide- and-conquer approach by partitioning the whole map region into regular grid sub-spaces. We then try to find similar trajectories by sweeping. Also, we applied the $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$ distance measure to compute the similarity between a pair of trajectories. We conducted experiments using a set of real GPS data with more than 500 vehicle trajectories obtained from Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The experiment shows that our grid partitioning approach is fast and stable and can be used in real applications for vehicle trajectory clustering.

  • In this paper we establish the stability of a Jensen type functional equation, namely f(xy) - f($xy^{-1}$) = 2f(y), on some classes of groups. We prove that any group A can be embedded into some group G such that the Jensen type functional equation is stable on G. We also prove that the Jensen type functional equation is stable on any metabelian group, GL(n, $\mathbb{C}$), SL(n, $\mathbb{C}$), and T(n, $\mathbb{C}$).

  • A new method for a guide robot using Real-Time Linux OS is introduced in this paper. A guide robot is to guide people in museums or buildings. So it has to be more reliable and stable in its control system. In addition, it has to satisfy Real-Time operation requirement because it needs to react to changing environment prompty. The task includes localization, map building, collision avoidance, path planning, and user interface software. The modular guide robot is designed with Real-Time Linux OS, which is composed of many open sources for scheduler, interrupt dispatcher, fifos, shared memory, timer services. We developed application software to satisfy the given task.   • A time-delay feedback control approach is proposed for making a given stable continuous-time Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy system chaotic, which is based on the fuzzy feedback linearization and a suitable approximate relationship between a time-delay differential equation and a discrete map. The time-delay feedback controller, chosen among several candidates, is a simple sinusoidal function of the delay states of the system, which has small amplitude. This approach is mathematically proven for rigorous generation of chaos from stable continuous-time TS fuzzy systems, where the generated chaos is in the sense of Li and Yorke. Numerical examples are included to visualize the theoretical analysis and the controller design.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study on the control of the engine idle speed under sudden A/C load which is one of the most severe disturbances on engines. Three types of the closed-loop controller are developed for the stable engine idle speed control. The input of the controller is an error of rpm. The output of the controller is an ISCV duty cycle. The anticipation delay is considered to deal with the delay time of the air mass in engine. The PID, Fuzzy and PID-type Fuzzy controllers with the anticipation delay have improved the engine idle speed condition more than current ECU map table under the A/C load.

  • Observing that each Tychonoff space X has the minimal basically disconnected cover (ΛX, Λ$\sub$X/) and the .realcompact-ification $\upsilon$X, we introduce a concept of stable $\sigma$Z(X)#-ultrafilters and give internal characterizations of Tychonoff spaces X for which Λ($\upsilon$X) : $\upsilon$(ΛX).

  • We determine the largest integer i such that $0 and the coefficient of $t^{i}$ is odd in the polynomial $(1+t+t^{2}+{\cdots}+t^{n})^{n+1}$. We apply this to prove that the co-index of the tangent bundle over $FP^{n}$ is stable if $2^{r}{\leq}n<2^{r}+\frac{1}{3}(2^{r}-2)$ for some integer r.

  • We study how to design conventional feedback controllers to drive chaotic trajectories of the well-known systems to their equilibrium points or any of their inherent periodic orbits. The well-known chaotic systems are Heon map and Duffing's equation, which are used as illustrative examples. The proposed feedback controller forces the chaotic trajectory to the stable manifold as OGY method does. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

  • To prevent the stable states from the complex dynamics, the global behavior of the overall system must be considered. Thus, indirect adaptive scheme might result in needless responses. Discrete-time variable structure controllers for a well-known logistic map are designed for two deferent sliding hyperplanes. Impulse disturbances are fully rejected by tile virtue of discrete-time variable structure control(DVSC). A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectless of the DVSC.
