This article presents the advantages of utilizing gossypol and its derivatives as reagents for iron (III) (Fe (III)) ions. A novel spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Fe (III) using gossypol derivatives in the presence of a universal buffer solution. Optimal conditions have been identified, and the composition and stability constants of the Fe (III) complex with gossypolacetic acid have been determined.

The captive model test of submerged body using CPMC(Computerized Planar Motion Carriage) was carried out at the Ocean Basin of KORDI/MOERI. The target model is a submarine with general hullform. The forces and moments acting on the submerged body were measured by 6-axis waterproof gage. The oblique motion test and turning test were carried out in horizontal and vertical planes of the model. Maneuvering coefficients and derivatives were obtained from the test results. The stability indices in horizontal and vertical planes were obtained by using maneuvering derivatives. In this paper the introduction of test equipment and test results are presented.

Mathematical model for coupled motions of Manta-type Unmanned Undersea Vehicle(UUV) moving with six degrees of freedom, is formulated. Furthermore, a calculation method for estimating the linear hydrodynamic derivatives acting on UUV, is proposed, and some of the estimated linear hydrodynamic derivatives are compared with results of captive model experiment. Based on linear dynamic model of UUV, a study was made to examine dynamic stability and turning ability in horizontal plane. And directional stability and required elevation rudder angles for neutrally operating in vertical plane, are also discussed.
In this paper, the Monte-Carlo method was applied to the controller robustness evaluation problems with respect to the uncertainty of critical plant parameters. The plant studied is a aerial vehicle. The-variable parameters are nondimensional stability derivatives, inertias. The nominal nondimensional stability derivatives ,were obtained from wind tunnel test. Also the nominal inertia parameters were calculated from the mass distribution along the vehicle axes. But the parameters obtained from the test or calculations are at best probable and always contain some uncertainties which one can not figure out. So some kinds of robustness evaluation method should be applied. The parametric robustness of the designed classical controller evaluated by the method turned out to be satisfactory.
A surface-assisted photo-control of the liquid crystal (LC) alignment has been achieved by modifying the topmost surface of the polyimide film with photo-reactive molecules. Recently, photo-alignment technique using a thin film of poly(vinyl cinnamates) have been reported. However their commercial potentiality is limited by their low thermal stability. To enhance thermal stability, we synthesized the chalcone derivatives as the photo-reactive molecules and introduced the materials on the surface-modified polyimide film.. We identified that the photo-chemical reaction of the chalcone derivatives occur in few minutes with irradiation of UV light. The photo-alignment characteristics of the modified polyimide films treated by polarized UV light and their LC cells are investigated as a function of exposure dose.

The longitudinal flight parameters of a light airplane are estimated from flight test data by use of the output error method. The reliability of the flight test measurement is examined in engineering judgment, scatter and Cramer-Rao bound, which turns out to be satisfactory with minor defects. Estimated parameter values are validated by comparing the simulated responses with the ones from actual flight tests. The FTD(Flight Training Device) of a light airplane turns out to satisfy the qualification of FAA Level 5 FTD in longitudinal motion. All the necessary practices for generation of high-fidelity data in longitudinal motion of a light aircraft are successfully performed in this study.
The in vitro antibacterial activities of new carbapenem. CRB 529, 535, 538, 545 and 550 with meropenem and imipenem were compared. CRB 529. 535, 538, 545 and 550 proved to have a broad an tibacterial spectrum. Its in vitro activity against standard 20 strains was almost the same as that of imipenem and slightly higher than that of meropenem. However. against clinical isolated P. aeruginosa, CRB 529, 535, 538, 545 and 550 showed significantly higher activity than imipenem, and also CRB 529, 535, 538, 545 and 550 showed almost the same activity than imipenem and meropenem against 82 clinical isolated strains including S. aureus (MRSA), S. aureus (MSSA), E. faecalis, E. facium, E. coli, P. aeruginosa, K. pneumonia, P. mirabiris, P. stuartii, M. morganii, C. freundii, E. cloacae, S. marcescens and A. calcoaceticus var. anitratus. The stability of CRB 529, 535, 538, 545 and 550 against porcine renal dehydropeptidase-I(DHP-1) was 10 folds higher than that of imipenem and was 3 folds higher than that of meropenem.
In this paper, the captive model test of a submarine using the RA test was carried out in a square basin. The target model submarine consisted of four types varying according to the position of conning tower and control planes. Hydrodynamic derivatives were acquired by multi-regression analysis. As a result, horizontal dynamic stability indexes of the four types presented positive values and satisfied dynamic stability requirements. In addition, the stability index of type 1 and type 4 - each with the same cruciform configuration of the aft planes - scored within the acceptable range of motion stability.
Bi4Ti3O12 (BIT) and its rare earth (Y, Nd, Sm, Gd)-substituted derivatives were synthesized using a sol-gel method to investigate their microstructures, cystal structures and electrical properties depending on the subsituted elemetns. Nd- or Sm-substitution into BIT appeared to be favorable, while Y- or Gd-substitution occurred with a pyrochlore phase. This suggests that a smaller trivalent rare earth ion may not be favorable in the structure of BIT. The rare earth derivatives showed that their particle sizes and shapes were considerably different depending on the kinds of substituted elements. Y-substitution resulted in developing a relatively even particle size and a dense microstructure. In structure, they may be similar to the pseudo-orthorhombic BIT but close to a paraelectric tetragonal phase. Their a (or b) axes were shortened, compared to the one of BIT. Such a distortion may result a decrease in the tilting of TiO6. BIT and the derivatives showed that their dielectric constants and losses were 40~120 and less than 0.03, respectively in the frequency range of 1~10 MHz. The dielectric loss of Y-substituted derivative was the lowest one and changed a little to frequency. Curie points were observed in all the derivatives like BIT to suggest that they would be ferroelectric. The temperature stability of the delectric properties of the derivatives below the Curie points were relatively better than the one of BIT.

Unsteady self-excited forces are commonly represented by parametric models such as rational functions. However, this requires complex multiparametric nonlinear fitting, which can be a challenging task that requires know-how. This paper explores the alternative nonparametric modeling of unsteady self-excited forces based on relations between flutter derivatives. By exploiting the properties of the transfer function of linear causal systems, we show that damping and stiffness aerodynamic derivatives are related by the Hilbert transform. This property is utilized to develop exact simplified expressions, where it is only necessary to consider the frequency dependency of either the aeroelastic damping or stiffness terms but not both simultaneously. This approach is useful if the experimental data on aerodynamic derivatives that are related to the damping are deemed more accurate than the data that are related to the stiffness or vice versa. The proposed numerical models are evaluated with numerical examples and with data from wind tunnel experiments. The presented method can evaluate any continuous fitted table of interpolation functions of various types, which are independently fitted to aeroelastic damping and stiffness terms. The results demonstrate that the proposed methodology performs well. The relations between the flutter derivatives can be used to enhance the understanding of experimental modeling of aerodynamic self-excited forces for bridge decks.
