  • The polarization characteristics of the cathodes were discussed which were composed YSZ and ${(La_{0.75 }Sr_{0.25 })}_{0.95}Mn_{0.8 }Co_{0.2}O_3$ The three-phase-boundary length increased with the addition of YSN resulting in the minimum po-larization resistance at 60(LSMC) : 40(YSZ) wt% When LSMC-YSZ compoiste cathodes was sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ minimum polarization resistance was observed and the capacitace increased with increasing sintering tem-perature.

  • Perovskites with nominal compositions $Ln_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}CoO_{3-\delta}$ (Ln=Gd, Nd, Pr, Sm, or Yb) were fabricated as cathode materials using a solid-state reaction method for low-temperature operating Solid-Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs). X-ray diffraction analysis and microstructure observation for the sintered samples were performed. The ac complex impedance was measured in the temperature range of $600-900^{\circ}C$ in air and fitted with a Solartron ZView program. The crystal structure, microstructure, electrical conductivity, and polarization resistance of $Ln_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}CoO_{3-\delta}$ were characterized systematically.

  • (BaSr)$TiO_3$ (BST) thick films were prepared by tape casting method, using $BaTiO_3$ and $SrTiO_3$ powder slurry and their dielectric properties were investigated. With an additive, $Li_2CO_3$, the sintering temperature was lowered by $200^{\circ}C$. Sintering density was 5.7 g/$cm^3$ and the BST thick films exhibited a maximum dielectric constant, tunability at temperatures near phase transition point. Whilst their characteristics were deteriorated above the phase transition temperature, they were unchanged below the phase transition temperature, which is presumedly due to the acceleration of $90^{\circ}$ domain formation, its contribution to the relaxation of internal stress and the increase in sintering according to the replacement of Li.

Effect of the Mixed Treatment of Electrolyzed Micronutrients with Nutrient Solution and SCB Slurry on Mineral Content and Growth of Cherry Tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum) (양액과 SCB액비 처리에 미량요소 첨가가 방울토마토의 미네랄 함량과 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • A pot experiment was carried out to examined the effect of electrolyzed micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Zn, Sr, Se, Sn, Co, Ti, and V) solution treatments with nutrient solution and SCB slurry on the mineral content and growth of tomato in cherry tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum). The treatment of nutrient solution (NS)+micronutrients solution (MS) significantly increased the concentrations of Li, Zn, Sr, Se, Ti as compared with that of NS alone in the cherry tomato fruits, and SCB+MS solution treatment significantly increased Li, Zn, Se, Co, Sr, and Ti contents as compared with SCB treatment. The micronutrient contents of MN+SCB+MS treatment were significantly higher in Li, Zn, Se, Co and in Ti than those of SCB and NS treatment, respectively. The growth and yield of cherry tomato fruits was highest with NS treatment. The yield indices of cherry tomato treated with NS+MS treatment and SCB+NS+MS were 97% and 94% of NS treatment. In conclusion, it seems to be possible to produce micronutrient-fortified cherry tomato by the mixed treatment of electrolyzed micronutrients.

Catalytic Reduction of Nitric Oxide by Carbon Monoxide over Perovskite-Type Oxide (페롭스카이트형 산화물에서 일산화탄소에 의한 질소산화물의 환원반응)

  • We have studied the reduction of NO by CO over perovskite-type oxides prepared by malic and method. The catalysts were modified to enhance the activity by substitution of metal into A or B site of perovskite oxides. In the $LaCoO_3$ type catalyst, the partial substitution of Sr into A site enhanced the catalytic activity on the conversion of NO at less than $350^{\circ}C$. In the $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{1-x}Fe_xO_3$ catalyst, the partial substitution of Fe or Mn into B site enhanced the conversion of NO, but excess amount of Fe decreased the conversion of NO. In addition, $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}O_3$ mixed with $SnO_2$ or $MnO_2$ showed the synergy effect on the reduction of NO. The introduction of water into reactants feed decreased the catalytic activity but the deactivation was shown to be reversible. The introduction of $SO_2$ into reactants feed also decreased the catalytic activity.

Root Uptake of $^{54}Mn,\;^{60}Co,\;^{85}Sr\;and\;^{137}Cs$ Deposited at Different Times during the Growing Season of Rice (벼 재배 기간중 침적시기에 따른 Root Uptake of $^{54}Mn,\;^{60}Co,\;^{85}Sr,\;^{137}Cs$의 뿌리흡수)

  • Root uptakes of $^{54}Mn,\;^{60}Co,\;^{85}Sr\;and\;^{137}Cs$ by rice were studied through a greenhouse experiment in which the upper 20 cm of the culture box was filled with an acidic loamy-sandy soil and a mixed solution of the radionuclides was applied to the surface water on the soil 2 days before, and 5 different times after, transplanting. Percent uptakes of the radionuclides to rice tops varied $3.4{\sim}13.7%,\;0.03{\sim}0.1%,\;0.6{\sim}1.5%,\;0.02{\sim}0.15%$, respectively, with application time. Among radionuclides, soil-to-plant transfer factors decreased, on the whole, in the order of $^{54}Mn>^{85}Sr>^{60}Co{\geq}^{137}Cs$, and among plant parts, in the order of straw > chaff > hulled seed. Transfer factors $(m^2/kg-dry)$ in hulled seed were, depending on application time, $1.2{\times}10^3{\sim}5.0{{\times}10^3\;for\;^{54}Mn,\;1.6{\times}10^5{\sim}2.6{\times}10^4\;for\;^{60}Co,\;1.1{\times}10^4{\sim}7.6{\times}10^4\;for\;^{85}Sr\;and\;5.2{\times}10^5{\sim}7.0{\times}10^4\;for\;^{137}Cs$. The highest factors of all the radionuclides in straw came from the application at 67 days after transplanting while those of $^{54}Mn,\;^{60}Co\;and\;^{85}Sr$ in hulled seed appeared at later applications. The data from this studv can be referred to in assessing the radiological impact of an accidental contamination during the rice growth.

  • The influence of Co substitution in B-site at perovskite PSCF($Pr_{0.3}Sr_{0.7}CO_{x}Fe_{(1-x)}O_{3}$) was investigated in this study. The PSCF series exhibits excellent MIEC(mixed ionic electronic conductor) properties. ASR(area specific resistance) of PSCF3737 was 0.137 ${\Omega}{\cdot}cm^{2}$ at $700^{\circ}C$. The activation energy of PSCF3737 was also lower than other compositions of PSCF. ASR of PSCF3737 was analysed as two parts at different part of frequency region. Responses at middle frequency part (${\sim}10^2$ Hz) were concerned with oxygen reduction reaction and those at low frequency part (${\sim}10^{-1}$ Hz) were related with oxygen diffusion.

  • Both photoluminescence and thermal characteristics for $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{+2},\;Dy^{+3}$ phosphors synthesized with various aluminum compounds (${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$, ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, amorphous-$Al_2O_3$ and $Al(OH)_3)$ were investigated in this study. The formation temperature of the host $SrAl_2O_4$ crystal is changed by these various aluminum compounds, as a result of the different thermal decomposition temperature of $SrCO_3$ phase. Among these compounds, the amorphous-$Al_2O_3$ phase shows the lowest formation temperature of the host $SrAl_2O_4$ crystal. The PL emission and excitation spectra of $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{+2},\;Dy^{+3}$ phosphor are not affected by these aluminum compounds. After the removal of the Xenon lamp excitation (360 nm), however, the excellent longphosphorescent property of the phosphor is obtained by the amorphous-$Al_2O_3$ phase, although the decay time for all phosphors decrease exponentially.

Dielectric Properties of LCP and $BaTiO_3-SrTiO_3$ Composites for Embedded Matching Capacitors (내장형 capacitor를 위한 LCP와 $BaTiO_3-SrTiO_3$ 복합재의 유전특성)

  • We manufactured Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) and (1-x)$BaTiO_3-xSrTiO_3$(BST) ceramic composites and investigated dielectric properties to use as embedded capacitor in printed circuit boards and replace LTCC substrates. The dielectric properties of these composites are varied with volume fraction of BST and ratios of BT/ST. Dielectric constants are in the range of 3~28. In addition, we could get low TCC and High Q value that could not achieve in other ceramic-polymer composites. Especially, in composite with x=0.4 and 50vol% BST, the dieletric constant and Q-value are 27 and 300, respectively. And more TCC is -116~145ppm/$^{\circ}C$ in the temperature range of -55~$125^{\circ}C$. We think that this composites can be used high-Q substrate material like LTCC and embedded temperature compensation capacitor in printed circuit boards.
