  • A new blank design method is proposed to predict the optimum initial blank shape in the sheet metal forming process. The rollback method for blank shape design takes the difference between final deformed shaped and target contour shape into account. Based on the method a computer program composed of blank design module FE-analysis program and mesh generation module is developed. The rollback method is applied to square cup drawing process with the flange of unifiorm size around its periphery to confirm its validity. The optimum initial blank shape is obtained from an arbitrary square blank after three modification. Good agreements are recognized between the numerical results and the published results for initial blank shape and thickness strain distribution. The optimum blank shape for two parts of automobile sub-frame is designed, The thickness distribution and the level of punch load is improved. Also the method is applied to design the weld line in the tailor-welded blank. It is concluded that the rollback method is an effective and convenient method for an optimum blank shape design.

  • Since DVC (Distributed Video Coding) and FRUC (Frame Rate Up Conversion) techniques need to have an efficient motion compensated frame interpolation algorithms. Conventional works of these applications have mainly focused on the performance improvement of overall system. But, in some applications, it is necessary to evaluate how well the MCI (Motion Compensated Interpolation) frame matches the original frame. For this aim, this paper deals with the modeling methods for evaluating the block-based matching cost. First, several matching criteria, which have already been dealt with the motion compensated frame interpolation, are introduced and then combined to make estimate models for the size of MSE (Mean Square Error) noise of the MCI frame to original one. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the block-based cost evaluation models are tested and can be effectively used for estimating the MSE noise.

  • The fire should extinguish as soon as possible because it causes economic loss and loses precious life. In this study, we propose a new atypical fire and smoke detection algorithm using deep learning and color histogram of fire and smoke. First, input frame images obtain from the ONVIF surveillance camera mounted in factory search motion candidate frame by motion detection algorithm and mean square error (MSE). Second deep learning (Faster R-CNN) is used to extract the fire and smoke candidate area of motion frame. Third, we apply a novel algorithm to detect the fire and smoke using color histogram algorithm with local area motion, similarity, and MSE. In this study, we developed a novel fire and smoke detection algorithm applied the local motion and color histogram method. Experimental results show that the surveillance camera with the proposed algorithm showed good fire and smoke detection results with very few false positives.

  • The paper presented some results of a experimental study of natural convection in partitioned 2D square enclosure. The square enclosure consist of two adiabatic vertical walls and the upper cold and the lower hot walls. A partition is positioned perpendicularly at the center of left vertical insulated wall The PIV mesaurements were performed with the variations of the partition length and inclination of enclosure. The working fluid is water with a Prandtl number of 6.996 at $20^{\circ}C$ temperature. A captured images were calculated by using a Cross-Correlation(Multi-frame/Single-exposure) method.

The square enclosure consist of two adiabatic vertical walls and the upper cold and the lower hot walls. A partition is positioned perpendicularly at the center of the left vortical insulated wall. The PIV measurements were performed with the variations of Rayleigh number, partition length and inclination of the enclosure. The working fluid is water with Prandtl number of 6.996 at 20$\^{C}$. • Experiments were carried out to investigate the seismic behaviors, such as lateral strength, ductility and energy-dissipation capacity. of high-strength concrete (HSC) square short column confined in thin steel shell. The primary objective of the study was to investigate the suitability of using HSC square columns confined in thin steel shell in region of moderate-to-high seismic risk. A total of six columns, consisting of two ordinarily reinforced concrete square short columns and four reinforced concrete square short columns confined in thin steel shell was tested. Column specimens, short columns in a moment resisting frame with girder. were tested under a constant axial and reversed cyclic lateral loads. To design the specimens. transverse reinforcing methods, level of axial load applied, and the steel tube width-thickness ratio (D/t) were chosen as main parameters. Test results were also discussed and compared in the light of improvements in general behaviors, ductility, and energy-absorption capacities. Compared to conventionally reinforced concrete columns, the HSC columns confined in thin steel shell had similar load-displacement hysteretic behavior but exhibited greater energy-dissipation characteristics . It is concluded that, in strong earthquake areas, the transverse reinforcing method by using a thin steel shell (D/t=125) is quite effective to make HSC short columns with very strong and ductile.

  • This paper proposes a robust scene change detection technique that uses the weighted chi-square test and the automated threshold-decision algorithms. The weighted chi-square test can subdivide the difference values of individual color channels by calculating the color intensities according to NTSC standard, and it can detect the scene change by joining the weighted color intensities to the predefined chi-square test which emphasize the comparative color difference values. The automated threshold-decision at algorithm uses the difference values of frame-to-frame that was obtained by the weighted chi-square test. At first, The Average of total difference values is calculated and then, another average value is calculated using the previous average value from the difference values, finally the most appropriate mid-average value is searched and considered the threshold value. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithms are effective and outperform the previous approaches.

  • This study presents a comprehensive investigation of wind load characteristics and wind-induced responses associated with different wind incidence angles and terrains of the 1000kV UHV substation frame. High-frequency force balance (HFFB) force measurement wind tunnel tests are conducted on the overall and segment models to characterize wind loads characteristics such as the aerodynamic force coefficients and the shape factors. The most unfavorable wind incidence angles and terrains for aerodynamic characteristics are obtained. A finite element model of the substation frame is built to determine the wind-induced response characters based on the aerodynamic force coefficients and bottom forces of the segment models. The mean and root mean square (RMS) values of displacement responses at different heights of the frame structure are compared and analyzed. The influence of wind incidence angle and terrains on wind-induced responses is also examined. The displacement responses in terms of the crest factor method are subsequently transformed into dynamic response factors. The recommended values of dynamic response factors at four typical heights have been proposed to provide a reference for the wind resistance design of such structures.
