  • In recent years, wireless communication technologies in human body have received an increasing attention and the research on an antenna that can be worn also has been actively conducted. In this paper, an wearable antenna that can receive GPS signal frequency is proposed. The antenna was manufactured by using a copper polyester fabric with thickness of 0.08mm as a radiator and a ground plate, and a goatskin with thickness of 0.7mm as dielectric substrate. Cutting edges placed in diagonal direction of square patch in order to obtain a circular polarization characteristic, and the conductive cloth and leather was laminated by using a conductive epoxy. First, goatskin dielectric constant was obtained through the simulation and measurement of resonance frequency of the three square patch antennas with different size. On the basis of the results, an antenna operating in the GPS band was designed and the performance of the antenna was validated by making the experiment. The change of the characteristic of the antenna that is located on the shoulder parts of the clothing and wearing person were measured. And it was confirmed that the reception sensitivity has a similar level as compared to the commercially produced ceramic GPS antenna.

  • In this paper, we analyzed microwave-DC conversion efficiency for the dual-polarization rectenna and antenna position changing. And then we analyzed and applied Square-Loop FSS structure for reducing the diode harmonic components as a rectifying circuit. The results of microwave-DC conversion efficiency for the each of designed dual-polarization rectenna has 69.1% with $360\Omega$ (dipole type) and 75.4% with $340\Omega$ (patch type) optimum load resistor. When the each of dual-polarization rectenna has a optimal load resistor, it's conversion efficiency shows of $\pm$20% in dipole type and $\pm$5% in patch type at $0~180^{\circ}$position. When applied Square-Loop FSS structure for Rectenna, Insertion loss was under 1 dB as the passband and over 20 dB as the stopband. The microwave -DC conversion efficiency was represented good properties of $\pm$2% variation.

  • This paper presents the miniaturization of circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna for UHF-band RFID portable reader. The proposed antenna has a group of four I-slots on a conventional corner-truncated square microstrip patch and it is shown that the antenna size is reduced compared to the antenna without I-slots. A 76 mm by 76 mm small antenna with four I-slots is fabricated with 6.4 mm thick FR4 substrate and its 10 dB return loss bandwidth, the gain and the axial ratio are measured to be $938{\sim}975\;MHz$, $-0.88{\sim}-2\;dBi$, and $3.27{\sim}13.21\;dB$ within the 10 dB return loss bandwidth, respectively.

  • In this paper, an optimum design center frequency proposes portable RFID reader antenna that is 920MHz frequency using the Taguchi's Method. Proposed antenna is cut corner of opposite angle and it's structure that have slots in four sides microstrip patch of a perfect square shape. This slot structure can miniaturize microstrip patch antenna and confirmed through an experiment that size of antenna about 18% decreases than structure that slot does not exist. Because compact antenna that have structure of slot changes according to complex design variables, analysis and experimental design for minimization of experiment number of times are required for optimum antenna design. In this research, designed antenna that have optimum structure when introduce and designs table of orthogonal arrays of the Taguchi's Method been experimental design that can minimize analysis and experiment number of times, achieve responsiveness analysis of main elements and analyzes the effect and minimizes design repeat with analysis result. Presented experiment result about antenna special quality that permittivity is 4.4 and manufactures to board of Epoxy 3.2T.

  • The Zienkiewicz-Zhu(Z/Z) error estimate is slightly modified for the hierarchical p-refinement, and is then applied to L-shaped plates subjected to bending to demonstrate its effectiveness. An adaptive procedure in finite element analysis is presented by p-refinement of meshes in conjunction with a posteriori error estimator that is based on the superconvergent patch recovery(SPR) technique. The modified Z/Z error estimate p-refinement is different from the conventional approach because the high order shape functions based on integrals of Legendre polynomials are used to interpolate displacements within an element, on the other hand, the same order of basis function based on Pascal's triangle tree is also used to interpolate recovered stresses. The least-square method is used to fit a polynomial to the stresses computed at the sampling points. The strategy of finding a nearly optimal distribution of polynomial degrees on a fixed finite element mesh is discussed such that a particular element has to be refined automatically to obtain an acceptable level of accuracy by increasing p-levels non-uniformly or selectively. It is noted that the error decreases rapidly with an increase in the number of degrees of freedom and the sequences of p-distributions obtained by the proposed error indicator closely follow the optimal trajectory.

  • This paper presents a new dualband shared-aperture microstrip antenna to operate in the S-Band of 2 GHz and X-Band of 8 GHz, for a Low Earth Orbit satellite antenna system. The proposed antenna incorporates two types of patches those are a rectangular loop-shaped for the S-Band and a square patch for the X-Band. Each patch are optimized for its respective operating band with minimal interference. The proposed antenna achieves a bandwidth of 16 MHz in the S-Band and 572 MHz in the X-Band. The highest gain is measured 7.14 dBi at 1.99 GHz and 7.95 dBi at 7.88 GHz. The proposed antenna exhibits half power beamwidths of 85 degree and 80 degree at 1.99 GHz and 7.88 GHz, respectively. The proposed dualband shared-aperture microstrip antenna may be a good candidate for as a feeding system of a dualband reflectarray antenna With its unidirectional radiation pattern from excellent agreement between simulation and measurement results.

  • In this paper, we present a design of meander type microstrip patch antenna which has the best quality in RFID approved international standard of 910MHz broadband, usable in metal environment. In order to be fit into the commercial tag chip on the antenna, a square shaped feeder is installed on the main body as well as in the main body. In addition, a multi meander type patching element was designed in order to reduce the main body effectively. Three antennae, Cases 1, 2 and 3, were designed and compared in the areas of broad band width, effectiveness or recognition distance according to their sizes and number of folds. The measurement result of Case 3 was determined to be the best. It was confirmed that mostly the efficiency and characteristic gain change due to antenna size and number of folds in meander type influenced the antenna recognition distance.

  • Nowadays, there have been an increasing number of illegal use cases where people try to fabricate the working hours by using fake fingerprints. So, the fingerprint liveness detection techniques have been actively studied and widely demanded in various applications. This paper proposes a new method to detect fake fingerprints using CNN (Convolutional Neural Ntworks) based on the patches of fingerprint images. Fingerprint image is divided into small square sized patches and each patch is classified as live, fake, or background by the CNN. Finally, the fingerprint image is classified into either live or fake based on the voting result between the numbers of fake and live patches. The proposed method does not need preprocessing steps such as segmentation because it includes the background class in the patch classification. This method shows promising results of 3.06% average classification errors on LivDet2011, LivDet2013 and LivDet2015 dataset.

  • In this paper, dual band patch antenna was designed using a CSRR structure with negative values permeability which inserted into the ground plane. We propose an antenna that can be used in dual band f1(1.53GHz) and f2(1.63GHz) for satellite communications by using the CSRR placed on the backside of feeding line, which is a negative shape of SRR. The proposed antenna can be arrayed using microstrip line and can be made smaller than conventional patch antenna. The fabricated antenna has the input reflection coefficient of -12.5dB and -14.5dB at f1 and f2, and the gain of 2dB and -0.8dB, respectively. and it was confirmed that the performance was sufficient in the dual-band.
