The degree of WC decomposition and hardness of thermally sprayed WC-Co coatings are important factors determining the wear resistance of the coatings. In order to minimize the degree of decomposition and to increase hardness, the effects of processing parameters of high velocity oxyfuel(HVOF) spraying on various characteristics of nanostructured WC-12Co coating have been evaluated by an experimental design method. The HVOF sprayed WC-12Co coatings consisted of various carbide phases including WC, $W_2C$ and $W_3Co_3C$, with a much reduced carbon content. The degree of WC decomposition and decarburization was affected by changing barrel length and spray distance. The hardness of WC-Co coatings was strongly related to droplet temperature at substrate, and increased with increasing fuel addition and/or decreasing spray distance. The effective control of processing parameters was discussed in detail for manufacturing a high performance WC-Co coating.

[ $Ti(Al,\;O)-Al_2O_3$ ] composite powders were produced by high energy mechanical milling of a mixture of Al and $TiO_2$ powders followed by a combustion reaction. The powders were subsequently thermally sprayed on H13 steel substrates. Microstructural examination was conducted on the composite powders and thermally sprayed coatings, using X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The performance of the coatings was evaluated in terms of micro-hardness and thermal fatigue. The thermally sprayed coatings performed very well in the preliminary thermal fatigue tests and showed no wetting tendency to molten aluminum.

This paper describes a novel microfluidic device with a microfabricated electrospray source for a sheathless electrospray ionization interface to a mass spectrometer. This electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) device consists of a triangular-shaped metal emitter, allowing the generation of an efficient electrospray for peptide detection, and microfluidic channels monolithically in a glass microchip. The performance of the proposed interface was evaluated by opimizing its experimental condition and spraying standard peptides. The spraying has high signal strength and stability, with a relative standard deviation of 2.9% and singly-charged and doubly-charged peaks of the peptides were successfully detected. The metal emitter source showed a good performance to be comparable to commercially available emitters in signal strength and stability.
This research was carried out to test and analyze capacity of the long distance sprayer fan in large livestock farmhouses. Long distance sprayer was manufactured to be able to spray a lot of water, which was a solvent for agricultural chemicals and black dye with the maximum spraying distance of 140 m and the effective spraying distance of 100 m. The spraying quantity and the distance were measured the intensity values of images within A4 papers, which absorbed the agricultural chemicals by spraying by binary image processing. These A4 papers were fixed upon the height of 1 m from soil ground at regular 10 m interval. After the A4 papers were collected and analyzed the intensity values of gray level. Gray level was ranged from 0 to 255, where 0 was black and 255 was white. A4 paper was fallen down from the stick at 10 m distance, because there were too large amount of sprayed water with black dye. Also, the paper showed low gray level at distance 30 m because of dropping lots of black water. The intensity value of gray level was showed almost less than 200 on the A4 papers between the distance 20 m and 100 m, which meant equality of spraying quantity. Additionally, it was possible to spay agricultural chemicals of until 180 m. Throughout this research, long distance sprayer could apply for preventing hoof-and-mouth disease in large livestock farmhouses.
The automation of agricultural machines is an irreversible trend considering the demand for improved productivity and lack of labor in handling agricultural tasks. Unstructured working environments and weather often inhibit a seemingly simple task from being fully autonomously performed. In this context, we propose a remote driving system (RDS) to aid agricultural machines designed to operate autonomously. Particularly, we modify a commercial speed sprayer for orchard environments into a robotic speed sprayer to evaluate the proposed RDS's usability and test three sensor configurations in terms of human performance. Furthermore, we propose a confidence error ellipsebased task performance measure to evaluate human performance. In addition, we present field experimental results describing how the sensor configurations affect human performance. We find that a combination of a semiautonomous line tracking device and a wide-angle camera is the most effective for spraying. Finally, we discuss how to improve the proposed RDS in terms of usability and obtain a more accurate measure of human performance.
To find the best combustion conditions in the heavy oil burner kinetic viscosity of heavy oil A, B and C at different temperature range, from 40 to 140$^{\circ}C$, and the droplet sizes of the heavy oils at different temperature and pump pressure were measured. And, combustion characteristics were investigated under the different conditions : two different heavy oil and three different oil temperature. At temperature of 70, 100, 130$^{\circ}C$ the kinetic viscosity of heavy oil A and B are 7.9, 5.7, 4.3 and 30.4, 13.7, 7.9cSt, respectively. The greatest and smallest viscosity were 7,455 cSt at C oil on 27$^{\circ}C$ and 4.26cSt at A oil on 140$^{\circ}C$. The magnitude of viscosity difference between at 100$^{\circ}C$ and 140$^{\circ}C$ under 6 cSt in cases of A and B oil, but more than 30cST on C oil. Of the droplet sizes, the biggest and smallest droplet size in A oil were 98$\mu\textrm{m}$ at oil temperature of 130$^{\circ}C$(4.3cSt), pump pressure of 1.57MPa and 72$\mu\textrm{m}$ at 70$^{\circ}C$(7.9cSt), 2.35MPa, respectively. It appeared that as spraying pressure increased the droplet size decreased, however, no distinct differences were found in the effects of kinetic viscosity on the droplet sizes of the test range. The best combustion performance was observed when droplet size, spraying pressure and oil temperature were 73$\mu\textrm{m}$, 2.35MPa and 70$^{\circ}C$ producing CO2 of 13.1%, CO of 13ppm and flue gas temperature of 250$^{\circ}C$ in A oil combustion For B oil, it was100$^{\circ}C$, 2.35MPa, 52$\mu\textrm{m}$, producing CO2 of 10ppm and flue gas temperature of 260$^{\circ}C$. In general, it appeared that better combustion results were observed in the smaller droplets produced burner condition.
PURPOSES : This study was conducted to derive the optimum mixing ratio of phosphorescent pigment for the development of phosphorescent line marking. METHODS: In this study, we utilized a literature review and case study methodology, to describe the domestic and foreign state of practice for the production and mixing of phosphorescent pigment for use in line marking. The optimal mixing ratio was derived by comparing the reduction in luminance over time for the various phosphorescent pigment mixing ratios identified in the literature. In addition, performance and construction characteristics were analyzed using field testing techniques. RESULTS : The results were as follows: 1) the results of the luminance performance standards tests showed that all of the phosphorescence test specimens satisfied the phosphorescent fire protection standard. As the phosphorescent pigment mixing ratio increased, the luminance value increased, 2) the luminance reduction rate was minimum at the mixing ratio of 50%. However, when compared to a mixing ratio 40%, a small difference was recorded, the luminance reduction rate from the mixing ratio of 40% is judged as being converged. Therefore, in view of the economic efficiency, it was determined that the optimal mixing ratio was 40%, 3) as a result of construction on the field, a mixing ratio of 40% was found to have a higher luminance value than the general line marking for up to three hours after sunset, 4) it was found that the phosphorescent line markings without glass beads spraying had a higher luminance value than the phosphorescent line markings with glass beads spraying. CONCLUSIONS : Through the results of the basic experiments of the line markings obtained by blending a phosphorescent pigment, the results could be applied to play an important role in the development of phosphorescent line marking paint technology and in establishing application planning for on-site construction characteristics.

Concrete undergoes various deterioration on surface. Impregnant with silicate is usually applied to concrete surface and forms insoluble hydrates, which can provide many engineering advantages. In the work, concrete impregnated with colloidal silicate is used for durability enhancement in surface and self-clearing performance is evaluated with photocatalyst-$TiO_2$ spraying. For the work, various tests are performed both for strength evaluation and durability evaluation such as absorption ratio, drying shrinkage, chloride penetration, sulfate resistance, and freezing/ thawing action. Furthermore, removal and self-clearing performance are evaluated with Acetaldehyde decomposition and Methylene blue decolorization. Through silicate impregnation and photocatalyst spraying, the impregnated concrete can have not only durability enhance but also self-clearing performance.

In this study, an electromagnetic pulse shielding effect was obtained by applying the arc metal spraying method to the ordinary concrete. For this study, to evaluate the electrical properties in the thickness of the metal sprayed coating, 8 types of metals(Cu, CuAl, CuNi, CuZn, Al, Zn, ZnAl, AlMg) were sprayed as coatings with a thickness of 100, 200 and 500㎛. The electrical conductivity on the surface was measured with a 4-pin probe, and an electromagnetic wave shielding effect test was performed according to KS. Based on the test results, 200 ㎛ was proposed as an optimal metal coating thickness for electromagnetic pulse shielding, and it was thermally sprayed on a 300×300×100mm concrete specimen to analyze the electromagnetic wave shielding performance. However, in the area of adhesion strength, the maximum was 1.11MPa, which was found to be less than 74% of the target performance.
