  • This paper investigates the energy efficiency of energy harvesting (EH) bidirectional cooperative sensor networks, in which the considered system model enables the uplink information transmission from the sensor (SN) to access point (AP) and the energy supply for the amplify-and-forward (AF) relay and SN using power-splitting (PS) or time-switching (TS) protocol. Considering the minimum EH activation constraint and quality of service (QoS) requirement, energy efficiency is maximized by jointly optimizing the resource division ratio and transmission power. To cope with the non-convexity of the optimizations, we propose the low complexity iterative algorithm based on fractional programming and alternative search method (FAS). The key idea of the proposed algorithm first transforms the objective function into the parameterized polynomial subtractive form. Then we decompose the optimization into two convex sub-problems, which can be solved by conventional convex programming. Simulation results validate that the proposed schemes have better output performance and the iterative algorithm has a fast convergence rate.

  • A numerical algorithm for plane stress and shell elasto-plasticity is presented in this paper. The proposed strain decomposition (SD) algorithm is an elastic predictor/plastic corrector algorithm, and in the context of operator splitting, is a return mapping algorithm. However, it differs significantly from other return mapping algorithms in that only the necessary response functions are used without invoking their gradients, and the stress increment is updated only at the end of the time step. This makes the proposed SD algorithm more suitable for materials with complex yield surfaces and will guard against error accumulation during the time step. Comparative analyses of structural systems using the proposed strain decomposition (SD) algorithm and the iterative radial return (IRR) algorithm are presented. The results demonstrate the accuracy and usefulness of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a generation method of regression classes for adaptation in the HM-Net (Hidden Markov Network) system. The MLLR (Maximum Likelihood Linear Regression) adaptation approach is applied to the HM-Net speech recognition system for expressing the characteristics of speaker effectively and the use of HM-Net in various tasks. For the state level sharing, the context domain state splitting of PDT-SSS (Phonetic Decision Tree-based Successive State Splitting) algorithm, which has the contextual and time domain clustering, is adopted. In each state of contextual domain, the desired phoneme classes are determined by splitting the context information (classes) including target speaker's speech data. The number of adaptation parameters, such as means and variances, is autonomously controlled by contextual domain state splitting of PDT-SSS, depending on the context information and the amount of adaptation utterances from a new speaker. The experiments are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method on the KLE (The center for Korean Language Engineering) 452 data and YNU (Yeungnam Dniv) 200 data. The experimental results show that the accuracies of phone, word, and sentence recognition system increased by 34∼37%, 9%, and 20%, respectively, Compared with performance according to the length of adaptation utterances, the performance are also significantly improved even in short adaptation utterances. Therefore, we can argue that the proposed regression class method is well applied to HM-Net speech recognition system employing MLLR speaker adaptation.

  • This paper considers a routing problem on a RPR(Resilient Packet Ring). The RPR is one of the ring-type data telecommunication network. Our major problem is to find an optimal routing algorithm for a given data traffic on the network under no splitting the traffic service, where the maximum load of a link is minimized. This paper characterizes the Minmax problem and develops two heuristic algorithms. By using the numerical comparison, we show that our heuristic algorithm is valuable for efficient routing the data traffic on a RPR.

  • A tetrahedral mesh generation scheme using 3-D operators has been presented. The proposed scheme employs new 3-D operators such as rearranging and modified finishing operators in addition to the previous trimming, wedging, digging, splitting and finishing operators. These new operators have been introduced in order to increase the stability of mesh generation process. Check processings with surrounded element edges and faces have also been optimized by employing a searching algorithm. Sample meshes are constructed to demonstrate the mesh generating capability of the proposed algorithm.

  • An unsupervised region based image segmentation algorithm implemented with a pyramid structure has been developed. Rather than depending on thraditional local splitting and merging of regions with a similarity test of region statistics, the algorithm identifies the homogenous and boundary regions at each level of pyramid, then the global parameters of esch class are estimated and updated with values of the homogenous regions represented at the level of the pyramid using the mixture distribution estimation. The image is then classified through the pyramid structure. Classification results obtained for both simulated and SPOT imagery are presented.

  • One of the important performance issues in large-scale RFID systems is to resolve collisions among responses from RFID tags. Considering two do facto anti-collision solutions, namely the binary-tree splitting algorithm and the Slotted-Aloha algorithm, we propose to use multi-packet reception (MPR) capability to enhance the RFID tag reading rate (i.e., throughput). MPR allows an RFID reader to receive multiple reponses transmitted by tags at the same time. We analyze the effect of MPR capability in the above anti-collision algorithms, which is also validated by simulation. The analysis and simulation results show that RFID reader antenna design and signal separation techniques play an important role in improving RFID system performance with MPR capability.

  • The lifting scheme has been found to be a flexible method for constructing scalar wavelets with desirable properties. In this paper, it is extended to the UDAR data compression. A newly developed data compression approach to approximate the UDAR surface with a series of non-overlapping triangles has been presented. Generally a Triangulated Irregular Networks (TIN) are the most common form of digital surface model that consists of elevation values with x, y coordinates that make up triangles. But over the years the TIN data representation has become an important research topic for many researchers due its large data size. Compression of TIN is needed for efficient management of large data and good surface visualization. This approach covers following steps: First, by using a Delaunay triangulation, an efficient algorithm is developed to generate TIN, which forms the terrain from an arbitrary set of data. A new interpolation wavelet filter for TIN has been applied in two steps, namely splitting and elevation. In the splitting step, a triangle has been divided into several sub-triangles and the elevation step has been used to 'modify' the point values (point coordinates for geometry) after the splitting. Then, this data set is compressed at the desired locations by using second generation wavelets. The quality of geographical surface representation after using proposed technique is compared with the original UDAR data. The results show that this method can be used for significant reduction of data set.

  • Terahertz (THz) communication is becoming a key technology for future 6G wireless networks because of its ultra-wide band. However, the implementation of THz communication systems confronts formidable challenges, notably beam splitting effects and high computational complexity associated with them. Our primary objective is to design a hybrid precoder that minimizes the Euclidean distance from the fully digital precoder. The analog precoding part adopts the delay-phase alternating minimization (DP-AltMin) algorithm, which divides the analog precoder into phase shifters and time delayers. This effectively addresses the beam splitting effects within THz communication by incorporating time delays. The traditional digital precoding solution, however, needs matrix inversion in THz massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems, resulting in significant computational complexity and complicating the design of the analog precoder. To address this issue, we exploit the characteristics of THz massive MIMO communication systems and construct the digital precoder as a product of scale factors and semi-unitary matrices. We utilize Schatten norm and Hölder's inequality to create semi-unitary matrices after initializing the scale factors depending on the power allocation. Finally, the analog precoder and digital precoder are alternately optimized to obtain the ultimate hybrid precoding scheme. Extensive numerical simulations have demonstrated that our proposed algorithm outperforms existing methods in mitigating the beam splitting issue, improving system performance, and exhibiting lower complexity. Furthermore, our approach exhibits a more favorable alignment with practical application requirements, underlying its practicality and efficiency.

  • In this paper, we carried out the study on speech recognition using the KM-Net topology design algorithm based on decision tree state-clustering to improve the performance of acoustic models in speech recognition. The Korean has many allophonic and grammatical rules compared to other languages, so we investigate the allophonic variations, which defined the Korean phonetics, and construct the phoneme question set for phonetic decision tree. The basic idea of the HM-Net topology design algorithm is that it has the basic structure of SSS (Successive State Splitting) algorithm and split again the states of the context-dependent acoustic models pre-constructed. That is, it have generated. the phonetic decision tree using the phoneme question sets each the state of models, and have iteratively trained the state sequence of the context-dependent acoustic models using the PDT-SSS (Phonetic Decision Tree-based SSS) algorithm. To verify the effectiveness of the above algorithm we carried out the speech recognition experiments for 452 words of center for Korean language Engineering (KLE452) and 200 sentences of air flight reservation task (YNU200). Experimental results show that the recognition accuracy has progressively improved according to the number of states variations after perform the splitting of states in the phoneme, word and continuous speech recognition experiments respectively. Through the experiments, we have got the average 71.5%, 99.2% of the phoneme, word recognition accuracy when the state number is 2,000, respectively and the average 91.6% of the continuous speech recognition accuracy when the state number is 800. Also we haute carried out the word recognition experiments using the HTK (HMM Too1kit) which is performed the state tying, compared to share the parameters of the HM-Net topology design algorithm. In word recognition experiments, the HM-Net topology design algorithm has an average of 4.0% higher recognition accuracy than the context-dependent acoustic models generated by the HTK implying the effectiveness of it.
