  • Several types of industrial byproducts are generated. With increased environmental awareness and its potential hazardous effects, the utilization of industrial byproducts in concrete has become an attractive alternative to their disposal. One such by-product is ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), which is a byproduct of the smelting process carried out in the iron and steel industry. The GGBS is very effective in the design and development of high-strength and high-performance concrete. This paper reviews the effect of GGBS on the workability, porosity, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and flexural strength of concrete.

  • In the case of time-series analysis, it is often more convenient to rely on the frequency domain than the time domain. Spectral density is the core of the frequency-domain analysis that describes autocorrelation structures in a time-series process. Possible ways to estimate spectral density are to compute a periodogram or to average the periodogram over some frequencies with (un)equal weights. This can be an attractive tool to measure the similarity between time-series processes. We employ the metrics based on a smoothed periodogram proposed by Park and Kim (2008) for the classification of different classes of time-series processes. We consider several lag windows with unequal weights instead of a modified Daniel's window used in Park and Kim (2008). We evaluate the performance under various simulation scenarios. Simulation results reveal that the metrics used in this study split the time series into the preassigned clusters better than do the raw-periodogram based ones proposed by Caiado et al. 2006. Our metrics are applied to an economic time-series dataset.

  • In the present study, we propose new type of a spinning disk reactor(SDR) with high performance and very convenient structure to make a large scale equipment from lab-scale than the conventional one. A split-disk experimental equipment, based on new type of spinning disk reactor, has been developed to generate an energy to break a bulk of injected gas into smaller gas bubble. Several cases of an experimental observation make it to confirm that a bulk of injecting gas could be continuously break into smaller bubbles. It shows the feasibility to make a scale-up of SDR by using the characteristic of Taylor-Proudman column in rotating flow. A theoretical study on single phase liquid flow is given to predict a liquid induced shear stress, which make the present study to be self-containment.

  • This study analyze the meaning and the characteristic of branded contents ad, one of the leading advertising methods. 10 experts who work for various advertising fields were inteviewed through semi-Structured Interview method and connected the keywords. First, branded contents advertisement can be split into two part, congenital branded contents ad and acquired branded contents ad. Congenital branded contents have a customer process, (Attention-Awareness-Interest-Compromise) and agency process (Combine-Seed-Continuous- Compromise). acquired branded contents ad also have a different customer process (Attention-Interest-Awareness-Compromise) and agency process (Seed-Rootage - Combine- Compromise). 'Combine' stage and 'Compromise' stage is the new features in the branded contents ad and 'awareness'stage also has a different meaning with previous theories.

  • This study focuses on the formation of input release lots in a semiconductor wafer fabrication facility. After the order-lot pegging process assigns lots in the fab to orders and calculates the required quantity of wafers for each product type to meet customers' orders, the decisions on the formation of input release lots should be made to minimize the production costs of the release lots. Since the number of lots being processed in the wafer fab directly is related to the productivity of the wafer fab, the input lot formation is crucial process to reduce the production costs as well as to improve the efficiency of the wafer fab. Here, the input lot formation occurs before every shift begins in the semiconductor wafer fab. When input quantities (of wafers) for product types are given from results of the order-lot pegging process, lots to be released into the wafer fab should be formed satisfying the lot size requirements. Here, the production cost of a homogeneous lot of the same type of product is less than that of a heterogeneous lot that will be split into the number of lots according to their product types after passing the branch point during the wafer fabrication process. Also, more production cost occurs if a lot becomes more heterogeneous. We developed a multi-dimensional dynamic programming algorithm for the input lot formation problem and showed how to apply the algorithm to solve the problem optimally with an example problem instance. It is necessary to reduce the number of states at each stage in the DP algorithm for practical use. Also, we can apply the proposed DP algorithm together with lot release rules such as CONWIP and UNIFORM.

  • With the development of 3D-based CAD (Computer Aided Design), attempts at freeform building design have expanded to small and medium-sized buildings in Korea. However, a standardized system for continuous utilization of shape data and BIM conversion process implemented with 3D-based NURBS is still immature. Without accurate review and management throughout the Freeform building project, interference between members occurs and the cost of the project increases. This is very detrimental to the project. To solve this problem, we proposed a continuous utilization process of 3D shape information based on BIM parameters. Our process includes algorithms such as Auto Split, Panel Optimization, Excel extraction based on shape information, BIM modeling through Adaptive Component, and BIM model utilization method using ID Code. The optimal cutting reference point was calculated and the optimal material specification was derived using the Panel Optimization algorithm. With the Adaptive Component design methodology, a BIM model conforming to the standard cross-section details and specifications was uniformly established. The automatic BIM conversion algorithm of shape data through Excel extraction created a BIM model without omission of data based on the optimized panel cutting reference point and cutting line. Finally, we analyzed how to use the BIM model built for automatic conversion. As a result of the analysis, in addition to the BIM utilization plan in the general construction stage such as visualization, interference review, quantity calculation, and construction simulation, an individual management plan for the unit panel was derived through ID data input. This study suggested an improvement process by linking the existing research on atypical panel optimization and the study of parameter-based BIM information management method. And it showed that it can solve the problems of existing Freeform building project.

  • Chilseongpul-i is a Korean shamanic myth in which the life story full of hardships of seven sons is told, until they will take up the sacredness of Chilseong god. The seven sons, who were born from Chilseongnim and his wife Okneobuin, are abandoned by their father, Chilseongnim. But sometime later they are born with new characters after going through a special growth process of suffering, dying, and rebirth. They finally recover the sacred position to save their mother. As considered by the analytical psychology, the fact that the seven sons became Chilseong gods shows an individuation process of the heroic mythology. The individuation process might be regarded as a symbol of Self-archetype of Koreans. Self-archetype functions as a healing which gets one's split heart and mind together. An imago dei of healers should be projected upon the seven gods by ancestors.

  • Biologist must have to do 2DGE biological experiment for Protein Search and Analysis. This experiment coming into being 2 dimensional image. 2DGE (2D Gel Electrophoresis : two dimensional gel electrophoresis) image is the most widely used method for isolating of the objective protein by comparative analysis of the protein spot pattern in the gel plane. The process of protein spot analysis, firstly segment protein spots that are spread in 2D gel plane by image processing and can find important protein spots through comparative analysis with protein pattern of contrast group. In the algorithm which detect protein spots, previous 2DGE image analysis is applies gaussian fitting, however recently Watersheds region based segmentation algorithm, which is based on morphological segmentation is applied. Watersheds has the benefit that segment rapidly needed field in big sized image, however has under-segmentation and over-segmentation of spot area when gray level is continuous. The drawback was somewhat solved by marker point institution, but needs the split and merge process. This paper introduces a novel marker search of protein spots by watersheds-based hierarchical threshold, which can resolve the problem of marker-driven watersheds.

  • This paper introduces a low-power compact ADC circuit for analog Convolutional filter for low-power neural network accelerator SOC. While convolutional neural network accelerators can speed up the learning and inference process, they have drawback of consuming excessive power and occupying large chip area due to large number of multiply-and-accumulate operators when implemented in complex digital circuits. To overcome these drawbacks, we implemented an analog convolutional filter that consists of an analog multiply-and-accumulate arithmetic circuit along with an ADC. This paper is focused on the design optimization of a low-power 8bit SAR ADC for the analog convolutional filter accelerator We demonstrate how to minimize the capacitor-array DAC, an important component of SAR ADC, which is three times smaller than the conventional circuit. The proposed ADC has been fabricated in CMOS 65nm process. It achieves an overall size of 1355.7㎛2, power consumption of 2.6㎼ at a frequency of 100MHz, SNDR of 44.19 dB, and ENOB of 7.04bit.
