Gears are produced through a variety of methods. In general, a metal piece is formed into the general shape of a gear through rough cuts. The gear then moves on to a more precise machine that removes more material. Grinders work via abrasion, rubbing a rough surface against a work piece at such high speeds that it literally scrapes unwanted material away from the item. Since the grinder is spinning so fast, the material is removed very quickly. This allows a grinder to remove a very small amount without taking any unwanted material with it. This study investigates the effect of grinding process parameters like grinding spindle speed and table transfer speed on the gear grade and grinding efficiency.

In this paper, experimental methods about the flow behavior of thin polymer film by various edge patterns in the spin coating process for stable cover layer coating of a blu-ray disc is described. The blu-ray disc, a next-generation optical disc format over 25GB, consists of a 1.1m thick substrate and a 0.1mm tick cover layer. Generally, cover layer on the blu-ray disc is made by the polymer spin coating process. However, it is hard to secure sufficient coating uniformity around the rim on the cover layer. In order to get the uniform thickness deviation and to minimize the bead around the rim, the edge of the disc substrate can be modified into various patterns, such as normal plain, trench, step and chamfer pattern, etc, around the rim on the disc and experimented with various parameters, such as surface tension, viscosity, coating time, temperature and rotation speed, etc. And the optimal shape of the rim was tried to get by 3 dimensional computer simulation of the polymer expulsion process.

In order to develop a new line injection system for spin draw yarn (FD SDY) fibers, the effect of various parameters in extrusion and melt line conditions on the dispersion and distribution of $TiO_2$ particles within FD PET fibers was investigated. As a result, the dispersibility of $TiO_2$ particles in a PET matrix is found to depend on the particle size and its surface characteristics. Surface modification of $TiO_2$ by dimethyl polysiloxane resulted in the improved dispersibility and affinity of $TiO_2$ particles in the PET matrix. Especially, residence time, mixing temperature, and mixing shear rate in the new line injection system under the SDY spinning process were very important parameters to minimize the agglomeration of $TiO_2$ particles. The FD SDY prepared by the new line injection system was superior to those using the polymerization process and the conventional masterbatch chip dosing process in the color-L and color-b values of the fibers.

A Blu-ray disc, which has a more than 25GB optical capacity, has been known as a promising next-generation optical disc format. It commonly has a 1.1 mm thick substrate and a 0.1 mm thick cover layer for beam transmitting and the protection of the reflecting surface. The cover layer is generally formed by the spin coating process. However, in conventional spin coating, small bumps are formed along the rim of the disc, which results in the fatal reading error. Numerical simulation of the thin film flow behaviors during spin coating with the commercial solver and optimal spinning conditions was obtained. Thickness distribution of the cover layer according to the variation of substrate's edge shape could be calculated as well. By modifying the shape of the substrate edge shape, the bumps along the disc rim could be minimized, and it was proved that the chamfered edge, around $5{\sim}10$ degree, is the simplest and most effective way to minimize the bumps.

Non-woven fabric is a textile product made by spinning thermoplastic polymers without manufacturing processes such as stretching, doubling, twisting, weaving, and knitting to form a sheet-shaped web in which fibers are tangled with each other, and then combining them by mechanical and physical methods. In addition, the non-woven fabric manufacturing process has various raw material choices, high productivity, so it is a textile manufacturing technology that can have various uses and increase added value. This study was conducted to control the shape and physical properties of products by improving the manufacturing method of melt-blown non-woven fabrics using process technology that easily changes the shape of non-woven fabrics and improves mechanical properties. In particular, it is considered that a non-woven fabric with a thin material shape and improved mechanical properties will be easily applied to a continuous secondary battery manufacturing industry such as roll to roll operation.
The europium doped yttrium oxide (Y2O3:Eu3+) thin film was formed on a Si substrate by the conventional spin-coating process followed by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) treatment. The spinning profiles such as rotation speed, acceleration and holding times were controlled during the spin-coating process for the best condition of the Y2O3:Eu3+ thin film. The RTA treatment was conducted for several temperature in order to crystallize the spin coated film. The Y2O3:Eu3+ thin film presented best performance in the conditions of 4000 rpm, 30 s and 10 s of rotation speed, acceleration time and holding time, respectively, at a fixed RTA temperature of 900 ℃.

With the aim of developing a smartphone-based point-of-care device that is small, inexpensive, and easy to handle by non-expert, we designed a fluorescence smartscope for counting particles and a DC motor-controlled particle positioning system. Our smartscope can count the number of fluorescent particles and fluorescently-stained white blood cells through a phone camera with an adaptor containing a LED, a ball lens and optical filters and an application running on a smartphone. The motor was controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth with an Android smartphone. We found that axial spinning of a helical microfluidic channel allows arrangement of particles having size similar to the white blood cells. The motor-controlled particle positioning system can minimize time-consuming manual processes and automate sample preparation process and thus, if integrated with the smartscope, it can be used for a point-of-care testing device based on a smartphone.
Regenerated composite fibers are prepared from solution(styela clava tunics /poly vinyl alchol) using N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide(NMMO)/water(87/13)(wt/wt) as a solvent by dry-wet spinning. The chemical cellulose (94%, ${\alpha}$-cellulose content) used for this study is extracted from styela clava tunics (SCT, Midduck), which are treated in chemical process and mechanical grinding. The structure and physical properties of regenerated composite fibers were investigated through IR-spetra, DSC, TGA and SEM. The optimal blend ratio of SCT/PVA for spinning solution was 70/30 and the total weight was 4% concentrations in NMMO/water solvent system. The fiber density, moisture contents and the degree of swelling were $1.5(g/cm^3)$ 10.2(%) and 365(%), respectively. The crystallinity index of composite fibers are decreased as the PVA contents increased. Thermal decomposition of composite fibers took place in two stages at around $250^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$. The best thermal stability was obtained with 30% PVA contents.

As a basic study for the development of pilot-scale distillation process of waste photoresist strippers from semiconductor industry, lab-scale experiments for the recovery of NMP (N-methy1-pyrrolidione) and BDG (Butyldiglycol) from waste photoresist strippers have been made using a spinning band vacuum distillation column. Purities of NMP and BDG obtained from the present experiments were higher than 99.5%. Furthermore, water content was less than 1000 ppm, color grade(APHA) less than 50, most metal contents except sodium less than 1 ppb. Those results indicate that NMP and BDG reclamed by distillation satisfy the their specifications required for the formulation of new photoresist strippers. Recovery rate of NMP and BDG was 96 and 53%, respectively, for type A, and 93 and 57%, respectively, for type B waste PR stripper solution.
Spatial distributions of alloying elements of an Fe-based amorphous ribbon with a nominal composition of $Fe_{75}C_{11}Si_2B_8Cr_4$ were analyzed through the atom probe tomography method. The amorphous ribbon was prepared through the melt spinning method. The macroscopic amorphous natures were confirmed using an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). Atom Probe (Cameca LEAP 3000X HR) analyses were carried out in pulsed voltage mode at a specimen base temperature of about 60 K, a pulse to base voltage ratio of 15 %, and a pulse frequency of 200 kHz. The target detection rate was set to 5 ions per 1000 pulses. Based on a statistical analyses of the data obtained from the volume of $59{\times}59{\times}33nm^3$, homogeneous distributions of alloying elements in nano-scales were concluded. Even with high carbon and strong carbide forming element contents, nano-scale segregation zones of alloying elements were not detected within the Fe-based amorphous ribbon. However, the existence of small sub-nanometer scale clusters due to short range ordering cannot be completely excluded.
