Posterior Inference in Single-Index Models

  • A single-index model is useful in fields which employ multidimensional regression models. Many methods have been developed in parametric and nonparametric approaches. In this paper, posterior inference is considered and a wavelet series is thought of as a function approximated to a true function in the single-index model. The posterior inference needs a prior distribution for each parameter estimated. A prior distribution of each coefficient of the wavelet series is proposed as a hierarchical distribution. A direction $\beta$ is assumed with a unit vector and affects estimate of the true function. Because of the constraint of the direction, a transformation, a spherical polar coordinate $\theta$, of the direction is required. Since the posterior distribution of the direction is unknown, we apply a Metropolis-Hastings algorithm to generate random samples of the direction. Through a Monte Carlo simulation we investigate estimates of the true function and the direction.

다중 CCD를 이용한 부피 간섭계의 성능 개선 (The performance improvement of the volumetric interferometer with multi-CCDs)

  • The Volumetric Interferometer using two spherical wavefronts emitted from the ends of two single mode fibers has been suggested to measure 3-dimensional absolute coordinates. In this paper, we try to improve the performance of the volumetric interferometer using multi-CCDs. We get coordinates matching matrixes between CCDs and can obtain more information in the space with multi-CCDs. Also we find out the best arrangement of multi-CCDs by computer simulations. In the simulation we can know that it will be better to increase the distance between CCDs to improve performance. For the performance test, we do a repeatability test, a comparison test with 2-D stage and the self-calibration using artifact.

회전운동의 매개화를 이용한 로터 시스템 해석 (Analysis of Rotor Systems by Using Rotation Parametrizations)

  • This paper deals with the comparisons of methodologies to express finite rotations accounting for analysis of the rotor system. Researches have been made to predict a behavior of its rotational motion by introducing Euler angles which turned out to be lack in consistency and exactness of the analysis. To overcome this deficiency a new methodology is applied by using both spherical coordinate and quaternion in the rotor rotation and shows its superiority over choices of the Euler angle in terms of kinetic energy and rotation velocity. It is found through numerical examples that quaternion is a more useful and valid tool to derive the ideal numerical model of the rotor system.

동작인식을 이용한 탁구 스윙 분석 (Analysis of Table Tennis Swing using Action Recognition)

  • In this paper, we present an algorithm for the analysis of poses while playing table-tennis using action recognition. We use Kinect as the 3D sensor and 3D skeleton data provided by Kinect for further processing. We adopt a spherical coordinate system and feature selected using k-means clustering. We automatically detect the starting and ending frame and discriminate the action of table-tennis into two groups of forehand and backhand swing. Each swing is modeled using HMM(Hidden Markov Model) and we used a dataset composed of 200 sequences from two players. We can discriminate two types of table tennis swing in real-time. Also, it can provide analysis according to similarities found in good poses.

  • A smartphone has very limited input methods regardless of its various functions. In this respect, it is one alternative that sensor motion recognition can make intuitive and various user interface. In this paper, we recognize user's motion using acceleration sensor, magnetic field sensor, and gyro sensor in smartphone. We try to reduce sensing error by gradient descent algorithm because in single sensor it is hard to obtain correct data. And we apply vector quantization by conversion of rotation displacement to spherical coordinate system for elevated recognition rate and recognition of small motion. After vector quantization process, we recognize motion using HMM(Hidden Markov Model).

모드좌표와 절대절점좌표를 혼용한 동역학 해석기법에 관한 연구 (Study on the Dynamic Analysis Method using the Modal Coordinates and the Absolute Nodal Coordinates)

  • In this paper, the absolute nodal coordinate formulation was introduced to describe the large deformation problems. And also, the modal coordinates were employed to represent the small elastic deformation. A new hybrid formulation was developed to combine the modal coordinates and the absolute nodal coordinates. A spherical joint and the DOT1 constraint were developed to carry out the numerical simulation of mechanical systems with kinematic joints. A beam example was suggested to show the new formulation. The simulation results using the modal coordinates and the absolute nodal coordinates show a good agreement to the experiments.

  • 지진해일이 발생하여 먼 거리를 전파할 때 코리올리스 힘이 지진해일의 거동에 매우 큰 영향을 준다. 또한 지진해일은 파장에 비해 파고가 작은 장파이기 때문에 먼 거리를 이동하는 지진해일의 해석에는 코리올리스 효과가 반영된 선형 천수방정식을 사용하는 것이 적절하다. 본 연구에서는 구면좌표계에서 유한차분기법을 사용하여 지진해일의 거동을 모의하였다. 대상 지진해일은 1983년 동해 중부 지진해일이다. 관측된 결과를 본 연구에서의 모의 결과와 비교하였다.

  • Sampling rates become inconsistent when spatial data in spherical coordinate are re-sampled with respect latitudinal or longitudinal degree for mathematical processes such as Fourier Transfrom, and this results in the distrtions of the processed data in the wavenmber domain. This distortions are more evident in the polar regions. An example is presented to show such distortions during the recovery process of free-air gravity anomalies from ERSI radar atimeter data in Russian Arctic Barents Sea, and a method is present to minimize the distortion using Lambect Conformal Conic map projection.

  • There are many position fixing systems in the world from ancient times. But the principles are to compare the position to want to know with the known position already. The position finding system which is not restricted by weather condition and/or electronic apparatus has been sought. The best system is the GPS as far. But the system has the fatal faults as follows; 1. to depend on satellite's accuracy, 2. not to use underwater. This paper is to investigate theoretically position fixing and north finding by using free gyroscope. This paper introduce a position fixing and north finding method by measuring inclination of 2 free gyroscopes. And this system does not depend on the weather condition and underwater condition. What is more, it could use on the planets, if the gravity exits.

  • 본 논문에서는 직사각형 영상에서의 객체 좌표를 회전축과의 각도로 표현하는 방법을 적용한 자동화된 객체추적 알고리즘을 제안한다. 직사각형 영상을 구형으로 맵핑했을 때 객체의 정확한 좌표를 알아내기 위해 비례식을 사용하였다. 실제 영상이 구형 영상으로 맵핑되었을 때, 화면에 보이는 중앙점을 기반으로 실제 영상의 좌측상단 좌표를 구하였다. 앞서 구한 좌표를 이용하여 실제 영상의 좌측상단에서 객체의 이동 거리를 더하면 구형 영상에서 객체의 실제 좌표를 구할 수 있다. 제안한 방법을 통해서 관심 객체의 움직임을 효과적으로 추적하였다.
