In this work, the comprehensive structural dynamics codes including DYMORE and CAMRAD II are used to validate the higher harmonic control aeroacoustic rotor test (HART) II data in descending flight condition. A total of 16 finite elements along with 17 aerodynamic panels are used for the CAMRAD II analysis; whereas, in the DYMORE analysis, 10 finite elements with 31 equally-spaced aerodynamic panels are utilized. To improve the prediction capability of the DYMORE analysis, the finite state dynamic inflow model is upgraded with a free vortex wake model comprised of near shed wake and trailed tip vortices. The predicted results on aerodynamic loads and blade motions are correlated with the HART II measurement data for the baseline, minimum noise and minimum vibration cases. It is found that an improvement of solution, especially for blade vortex interaction airloads, is achieved with the free wake method employed in the DYMORE analysis. Overall, fair to good correlation is achieved for the test cases considered in this study.

This paper deals with the optimal design of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) with the analysis of prototype PMLSM. In the PMLSM, thrust ripple is one of the causes disturbing high-precision position control. Therefore, Response surface methodology (RSM), one of the optimization methods, is applied to obtain the shape decreasing thrust ripple of the prototype PMLSM. In the end, characteristic analysis of the PMLSM is performed by space harmonic method for shortening of a computation time, and final results is verified by finite element analysis.
In this paper, analysis of cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter in DTC-SVM (Direct Torque Control-Space Vector Modulation) based induction motor drive for FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) is presented. Cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter uses multiple series units of H-bridge power cells to achieve medium-voltage operation and low harmonic distortion. In FCEV, a fuel cell stack is used as the major source of electric power moreover the battery and/or ultra-capacitor is used to assist the fuel cell. These sources are suitable for utilizing in cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter. The drive control strategy is based on DTC-SVM technique. In this scheme, first, stator voltage vector is calculated and then realized by SVM method. Contribution of multilevel inverter to the DTC-SVM scheme is led to achieve high performance motor drive. Simulations are carried out in Matlab-Simulink. Five-level and nine-level inverters are applied in 3hp FCEV induction motor drive for analysis the multilevel inverter. Each H-bridge is implemented using one fuel cell and battery. Good dynamic control and low ripple in the torque and the flux as well as distortion decrease in voltage and current profiles, demonstrate the great performance of multilevel inverter in DTC-SVM induction motor drive for vehicle application.
LCL filters installed at converter outputs offer a higher harmonic attenuation than L filters. However, as a three order resonant circuit, it is difficult to stabilize and has a risk of oscillating with the power grid. Therefore, careful design is required to damp LCL resonance. Compared to a passive damping method, an active damping method is a more attractive solution for this problem, since it avoids extra power losses. In this paper, the damping capabilities of capacitor current, capacitor voltage, and grid-side current feedback methods, are analyzed under the discrete-time state-space model. Theoretical analysis shows that the grid-side current feedback method is more suitable for use in active power filters, because it can damp LCL resonance more effectively than the other two methods when the ratio of the resonance and the control frequency is between 0.225 and 0.325. Furthermore, since there is no need for extra sensors for additional states measurements, this method provides a cost-efficient solution. To support the theoretical analysis, the proposed method is tested on a 7-kVA single-phase shunt active power filter.
For the high power variable speed applications, the DCTLI(diode clamped three-level inverter) have been widely used. This paper describes the analysis of the neutral point current of the DCTLI and the improved space vector-based PWM strategy considering the switching frequency of power devices, that minimizes the fluctuation of the neutral point current in spite of high modulation index region and low power factor. It contributes to decrease the capacitance of dc-link capacitor bank and to increase the neutral point voltage controllable region. Especially, even if second (or even) order harmonic is induced in load current (at this situation, is was investigated that the general control method can not suppress the neutral point voltage variation), this PWM can provide effective control method to suppress the neutral point voltage variation. Various simulation results by means of Matlab/Simulation are presented to verify the proposed PWM.

For the accurate analysis of induction motors driven by PWM-type inverter, a time-stepping finite element method is presented in this paper. Since the PWM-type source voltage is not sinusoidal, the time harmonic method can not be used. Therefore, we used a time-stepping method, where the space harmonics due to the slot structure can be analyzed and each time-step size is determined from each increase of rotor position. As a numerical example, an induction motor of 20 Hp, 3 phase and 6 pole is analyzed. First, numerical results of the time-stepping finite element analysis are compared to those of conventional equivated circuit analysts. Next, the stator current characteristic obtained from PWM voltage source is compared to that from sinusoidal voltage source.
This paper deals with extraction of design parameters of Linear Switched Reluctance Motor (LSRM) based on force calculation using space harmonic analysis, 2D Finite Element Method (FEM) and experimental measurement. First, analytical solutions for flux density due to mover winding currents are derived in terms of magnetic vector potential and a 2D rectangular coordinate system, for the case when the mover is located at aligned and unaligned position. The analytical results are compared with those obtained from a 2D FEM Second, using Fourier series expansion, this paper predicts the force profile of LSRM analytically.
This paper presents a method for designing a high power motor that is applicable to electric vehicles. Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) type motor which has high efficiency and high durability is selected. To apply for the electric vehicles, a form, a tire and a wheel of vehicles are considered when calculating a motor performance. After calculating a motor performance, space harmonic analysis and FEA(Finite Element Analysis) is used for designing In-Wheel motor.

The development of modern high-energy magnet materials has allowed the replacement of field coils in many different types of electromagnetic energy conversion machines. As well, the linear synchronous motor has recently been proposed for linear motion with high efficiency and thrust. Thus, this paper presents an analytical solution for the high thrust and cost reduction of the Iron-Cored Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) considering magnetization arrays and geometry. Hence, the superior utilization points in each of the magnetization arrays are provided by the height ratio of the magnet/air-gap and magnet/winding coil, etc. In formulation, the space harmonic method in analytical solutions and the generalized 2-D tensor finite element analysis can be used to evaluate force components in magneto static devices including the magnetostrictive phenomenon.

This paper deals with the optimal design of a slotless type of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). Response surface methodology, one of the optimization methods, is used to consider multiple response of the PMLSM. That is, it is applied to obtain more average thrust and less thrust ripple than prototype PMLSM. To analyze quickly, characteristic analysis of the PMLSM is performed by space harmonic method and final results of optimized PMLSM are compare with those of prototype PMLSM through finite element analysis.
