The attitude dynamics of KITSAT-1 are modeled including the gravity gradient stabilization method. We define the operation scenario during the initial attitude stabilization period by means of a magnetorquering control algorithm. The required constraints for the gravity gradient boom deployment are also examined. Attitude dynamics model and control laws are verified by analyzing in-orbit attitude sensor telemetry data.
In spite of a short history of only 30 years in space development, Korea has achieved outstanding space development capabilities, and became the $11^{th}$ member of the "Space Club" in 2013 by launching its own satellites with its own launch vehicle from a local space center. With the successful development and operation of more than 10 earth-orbiting satellites since 1999, Korea is now rapidly expanding its own aspirations to outer space exploration. Unlike earth-orbiting missions, planetary missions are more demanding of well-rounded technological capabilities, specifically trajectory design, analysis, and navigation. Because of the importance of relevant technologies, the Korean astronautical society devoted significant efforts to secure these basic technologies from the early 2000s. This paper revisits the numerous efforts conducted to date, specifically regarding flight dynamics and navigation technology, to prepare for future upcoming planetary missions in Korea. However, sustained efforts are still required to realize such challenging planetary missions, and efforts to date will significantly advance the relevant Korean technological capabilities.

In a standard Metropolis-type Monte Carlo simulation, the proposal distribution cannot be easily adapted to "local dynamics" of the target distribution. To overcome some of these difficulties, Duane et al. (1987) introduced the method of hybrid Monte Carlo(HMC) which combines the basic idea of molecular dynamics and the Metropolis acceptance-rejection rule to produce Monte Carlo samples from a given target distribution. In this paper, using the HMC within Gibbs sampler, an asymptotical estimate of the smoothing mean and a general solution to state space modeling in Bayesian framework is obtaineds obtained.

This paper describes the Flight Dynamics Automation (FDA) system for COMS Flight Dynamics System (FDS) and its test result in terms of the performance of the automation jobs. FDA controls the flight dynamics functions such as orbit determination, orbit prediction, event prediction, and fuel accounting. The designed FDA is independent from the specific characteristics which are defined by spacecraft manufacturer or specific satellite missions. Therefore, FDA could easily links its autonomous job control functions to any satellite mission control system with some interface modification. By adding autonomous system along with flight dynamics system, it decreases the operator's tedious and repeated jobs but increase the usability and reliability of the system. Therefore, FDA is used to improve the completeness of whole mission control system's quality. The FDA is applied to the real flight dynamics system of a geostationary satellite, COMS and the experimental test is performed. The experimental result shows the stability and reliability of the mission control operations through the automatic job control.
Lived space, i.e. space as we experience it in our mundane life, does not exist independently of material objects: it is defined, delimited and made sensible by them. Concrete spaces so manifest are not sterile and neutral homogeneous voids. Not only do they interact with material objects but also influence our feelings and behaviour, constituting emotionally charged fields. This field dynamics of space is readily observed in the phenomenon of place as well as in the etymology and usage of the word 'place'. Each space is pervaded by a particular mood or atmosphere in accordance with its size and shape as well as with the perceptual properties of its constituent objects. Moreover, within each space the atmosphere also changes depending on the location. Space then can be thought of as a nonhomogeneous field of emotional energy. The fact that one is attracted to some places and repulsed by others may be described as one's being subject to invisible forces of pulls and pushes, attractions and repulsions. Out spatial environment is therefore a field of forces of varying directions and magnitudes.

During the lunar mission, spacecraft are subject to various unexpected disturbance sources such as third body attraction, solar pressure and operating impulsive maneuver error. Therefore, efficient trajectory correction maneuver (TCM) strategy must be required to follow the designed mission trajectory. In the early days of space exploration, the mission trajectory has been designed by using patched conic approach based on two-body dynamics for the lunar mission. Thus the TCM based on two-body dynamics has been usually adopted. However, with the advanced in computing power, the mission trajectory based on three-body dynamics is attempted recently. Thus, these approaches based on two-body dynamics are essentially different from real environment and large amount of energy for the TCM is required. In this work, we study the trajectory correction maneuver based on three-body dynamics.

This paper discusses dynamic characteristics of a urea-SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. The urea flow rate to improve NOx conversion efficiency is generally determined by parameters such as catalyst temperature and space velocity. The urea-SCR system was tested in the various engine operating conditions governing the raw NOx emission levels, space velocity. and SCR catalyst temperature. These experiments include cold-transients to determine catalyst light-off temperature and urea flow rate transients. Likewise. ammonia storage dynamics was also investigated. The cold-transient results indicate the light-off temperature of the catalysts used in these experiments was $200-220^{\circ}C$. The ammonia storage and urea flow rate transients all indicate very slow dynamics (on the order of seconds) which presents control challenges for mobile applications. The results presented in this paper should provide an excellent starting point in developing a functional in-vehicle urea-SCR system.

Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO), also known as Danuri, was successfully launched on 4 Aug. from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station using a Space-X Falcon-9 rocket. Flight dynamics (FD) operational readiness was one of the critical parts to be checked before the flight. To demonstrate FD software's readiness and enhance the operator's contingency response capabilities, KPLO FD specialists planned, organized, and conducted four simulations and two rehearsals before the KPLO launch. For the efficiency and integrity of FD simulation and rehearsal, different sets of blind test data were prepared, including the simulated tracking measurements that incorporated dynamical model errors, maneuver execution errors, and other errors associated with a tracking system. This paper presents the simulation and rehearsal results with lessons learned for the KPLO FD operational readiness checkout. As a result, every functionality of FD operation systems is firmly secured based on the operation procedure with an enhancement of contingency operational response capability. After conducting several simulations and rehearsals, KPLO FD specialists were much more confident in the flight teams' ability to overcome the challenges in a realistic flight and FD software's reliability in flying the KPLO. Moreover, the results of this work will provide numerous insights to the FD experts willing to prepare deep space flight operations.
This paper discusses an optimal design of high space factor BLDC motor. Because of high space factor BLDC, Nonliear finite element method considering saturation of outer-rotor is used. For optimal design, a new niching genetic algorithm, namely "Restricted Competitions Selection" is used. This algorithm constructs an objective function using only the most important criteria and provides a designer with a set of solution rather than one solution. To verify its effectiveness, the new niching genetic algorithm is applied to an actual high space factor BLDC motor We show that a new designed high space factor BLDC motor is superior to the actual high space factor BLDC.
