  • The contrast of a display is generally evaluated by using the ratio of the minimum luminance to the maximum luminance of the display. However, this contrast ratio is not matched with perceived contrast because it uses only physical characteristic of display without considering human perceptual characteristics. In this paper, the proposed contrast measure that considers perceptually discriminable brightness within the range of display brightness is suggested. First, the range between the minimum and maximum brightness of display in CIECAM02 color space is calculated to measure the length of perceived brightness for the display. Next, brightness ranges which are perceptually same at each brightness level are determined by applying Weber-Fechner ratio and then, the number of brightness values within each brightness range is counted. Finally, perceptually discriminable brightness is defined as the sum of ratio between the number of brightness values in each brightness range and the perceptual contrast length of the display. In the experiments, preference test using various displays with random brightness patches is performed to evaluate perceived contrast. As a result, the proposed measure is more consistent with human perception than the previous contrast measures.

  • Regional odontodysplasia is a relatively rare developmental anomaly of dental hard tissue with characteristic clinical, radiographic and histologic features. It requires a continuous and multidisciplinary approaches, and the aim of treatment for these patients should include aiding mastication, improving aesthetics, maintaining normal vertical dimension and space, allowing normal jaw growth and eruptional management of affected teeth. This report describes three cases of regional odontodysplasia with 2-5 years of follow-up. Conservative treatment is chosen to preserve the affected teeth as long as possible, and periodic radiographic and clinical examination was done. During this time, all teeth except one showed progressive development. An interesting finding observed in our cases was that each tooth even in the same person showed different degree of tooth development and eruption rate. Thus, we colcluded that the treatment plan for regional odontodysplasia should be conservative and individualized and based on the assessment of each tooth.

  • This study proposes a third-person virtual reality content production pipeline to provide users with a new experience and presence in a new virtual reality environment. For this purpose, we first create third-person virtual reality content, which includes a story, fun factors, and game characteristic. It consists of a tutorial scene in which a user can pre-learn the proposed interface suitable for a third person different from existing virtual reality content and a content scene that achieves its purpose by using game factors based on the background story. Next, we design an interface suitable for the third-person virtual reality content. This study proposes an interface in which users can interact with a virtual environment or object by using their hand. The proposed interface consists of three steps: character movement, virtual object selection with multiple selection, and 3D menu control using virtual space. Finally, through the survey experiment, third-person virtual reality content produced based on the proposed interface was confirmed to be easily controlled while ensuring high satisfaction.

  • The present study investigated the biological agents and environmental conditions of the habitats of the Kirengeshoma koreana, a class 2 endangered species class according to the South Korean Ministry of Environment (MOE), elucidated the structural characteristics of the forest stands in the habitats with the importance value and the diversity index, conducted comparative analysis of the factors, and explored their relationship with environmental factors. According to the results of direction analysis of natural habitats of the Kirengeshoma koreana, the direction was distributed to the north or the northeast, and the slope amounted to $15-40^{\circ}$, thus demonstrating that the slope has little effect. In addition, the results showed that the distribution of Kirengeshoma koreana populations dramatically increased starting in areas at least 600 m above the sea level and that the relative light intensity was 3.79% on an average. Most populations were native to gorges and crevices between rocks so that they mainly tended to inhabit areas that could see soil loss in times of precipitation. In addition, a considerable number of the populations were close to hiking trails as well, thus leading to concerns about their artificial destruction. The soil of layer a in the main growth space of the Kirengeshoma koreana was analyzed and turned out to be strongly acidic, measuring pH 4.45-4.89 (average: 4.68). All investigation sections were typical natural broad-leaved tree areas, and, judging from the fact that the Kirengeshoma koreana was most likely to appear in colonies of the Mongolian oak tree (Quercus mongolica Fisch. ex Ledeb.), the Mongolian oak tree seems to be the species of tree that has the greatest effect on the inhabitation of the Kirengeshoma koreana.

  • It is critical for Korea to make effective use of limited space as it has dense population and high traffic volume compared to its terrestrial area. To resolve this issue, diverse types of underground structures have increasingly been applied so far, and one of the most representative structures is double-deck tunnel. It has upper and lower roads separated by middle slab that shows dynamic behavior according to the vehicle and earthquake loads. In case of the characteristics of earthquake response, it is necessary to have exploratory study as it has high loads, complex working mechanism, and difficult theoretical approach. In order to understand the characteristics of earthquake response based on the supporting conditions of middle slab in double-deck tunnel, this study conducts indoor shaking table test with 3 test cases: (1) fix both brackets, (2) free and fix at each bracket and (3) free at both brackets for 2 seismic waves of artificial and Gyeongju earthquake. The result shows if the middle slab is free at both brackets, the acceleration response is reduced 41% for artificial earthquake and 60% for Gyeongju earthquake compared to the one with fix at both brackets.

  • Thin Spray-on Liners(TSLs) based on polymer materials have been considered as an alternative to shotcrete and wire mesh in relatively fair rock conditions, and used in mines since 1990s. Nevertheless, Few experimental studies on their mechanical properties necessary for the evaluation of their bearing capacities as a support member have been carried out. In this study, tensile and bond strengths of two kinds of TSLs with different material compositions were measured at the age of 7 days. In addition, two kinds of bending tests proposed by EFNARC (2008) to simulate representative failure mechanisms of TSLs were carried out on the same materials and curing age as in tension and pull-out tests. From the tests, tensile strength of a TSL is shown to increase as its content of polymer is higher. In contrast, its bond strength seems to be in inverse proportion to its polymer content. Especially, the TSL material in which a cementitious component is included with relatively smaller polymer content shows a faster hardening characteristic which results in higher resistance to de-bonding between a TSL and a substrate. As a result, it is shown that the performance of TSLs might be dependent upon its corresponding polymer content.

  • The relationships of environmental factors to the distribution patterns of the three species of ophiuroids, Ophiura kinbergi, O. sarsi and ). sarsi vadicola from Yellow Sea southeast seas and East Sea of Korea were studied to characterize their habitual niches. These three species chosen for study illustrated distinct niche and patterns according to their various preferences mainly for bottom water temperature, bottom water salinity and depth from seven environmental variables which were depth, bottom water temperature and salinity, density, bottom water oxygen content, grain size of the surface sediment, and sediment sorting coefficient. The results of habitat niche study mainly dealing with O. sarsi vadicola suggested that the optimum habitat rages were approximately 6$^{\circ}C$∼10$^{\circ}C$ in bottom temperature and 31%∼33.5% in bottom water salinity which also corresponded with the characteristic ranges of Yellow Sea Bottom Cold Water and higher probabilities of occurrence (more than 70%) were found in depth ranging from 100 to 200 m. In addition, the habitats of O. kinbergi and O. sarsi were compared with that of O. sarsi vadicola. Their ranges of habitat niches were found to have different niches in physical space of bottom water temperature, bottom water salinity and depth. Based on the distribution pattern of O. sarsi vadicola in the Yellow Sea, the ecological barrier which confined the distribution of benthic macro-invertebrates in southern Yellow Sea was determined to be the Yellow Sea Warm Current (approximately 34% < and 18$^{\circ}C$ in December) which occurs between 33$^{\circ}$ and 34$^{\circ}$N of southern Yellow Sea in winter time.

  • Williams syndrome (WS) is a rare congenital disorder which is caused by microdeletion of approximately 1.6 MBP from the long arm of chromosome 7 at 7q11.23. It is characterized by cardiovascular anomalies, elfin face and mental retardation. The most typical oral signs in patient with WS are hypodontia, reduced mesio-distal dimensions both in the primary and permanent teeth, macroglossia, excessive interdental spacing, enamel hypoplasia and enamel hypomineralization. The majority of children with WS have mild to moderate mental retardation, generalized anxiety disorder, hyperactivity disorder and sensitivity to sounds. The purpose of this presentation is to describe dental treatment for a child with WS. A 9-year-old boy diagnosed with WS had caries on his first permanent molars. Because of the poor cooperation, these teeth were filled temporarily with glass ionomer, and treatment under general anesthesia was planned. Under general anesthesia, caries treatment of first permanent molar and extraction of primary molar was successfully performed and there was no postoperative complications related to general anesthesia. Open bite, hypodontia, excessive dental space, enamel hypoplasia, enamel hypomineralization were observed which were characteristic in WS.

  • This study takes the identity and characteristics of public art in historical and cultural regions as the research object. Through the theoretical investigation and research on the public art of historical and cultural regions, six evaluation factors that shape spatial identity and characteristics were drawn: Environmental characteristics, public characteristics; Symbolic characteristics; Artistic characteristics;.Historical characteristics; Interactivity. The identity and characteristics of Taoxichuan public art in Jingdezhen was analyzed and evaluated. The results show that the " public art " of seven large chimneys is consistent with the historical structure of the industry. Among them, environmental, public characteristics, symbolic, artistic and historical characteristics of the Industria park have a high degree of preservation value and can be recognized as the historical landmark of the park. In the new public art, the artistic quality of public art, the environment, and the public characteristic of public art, are also at a moderate level, but it is comparatively weak. Public art recreated as an industrial heritage has formed an identity that can communicate spiritual sympathy to the public by forming a time-space communication between the public with historical relics and ceramic elements, and the new public art for local rehabilitation has given new artistic flavor to the city, but the new identity has not been shown.
